• Medium (worsted) weight yarn: 3 oz (210 yds, 84g) each purple, green, yellow
• Size G/6/4mm crochet hook or size needed to obtain gauge
• Tapestry needle
• 24 (12mm) cream wooden beads

Instructions

Motif A (make 10)
Rnd 1 (RS): Thread purple through 1 bead; ch 2, 6 sc around half of strand that encloses bead, 6 sc around other half of strand; join in first sc. Fasten off. (12 sc)
Rnd 2: Join yellow in same sc as joining; ch 1, sc in same sc and in next sc; 3 dc next sc; [sc in next 2 sc, 3 dc in next sc] 3 times; join in first sc. Fasten off.
Rnd 3: Join green in 2nd dc of any 3-dc group; ch 3 (counts as a dc), 4 dc in same dc -- beg corner made; dc in next 4 sts, [5 dc in next dc -- corner made; dc in next 4 sts] 3 times; join in 3rd ch of beg ch-3. Fasten off.
Rnd 4: Join purple in 3rd dc of any corner; ch 1, 3 sc in same ch as joining; sc in next 8 dc; *[3 sc in next dc; sc in next 8 dc] 3 times; join in first sc.
Fasten off and weave in ends.

Motif B (make 8)
Rnd 1 (RS): Thread purple through 1 bead; ch 2, 6 sc around half of strand that encloses bead, 6 sc around other half of strand; join in first sc. Fasten off. (12 sc)
Rnd 2: Join green in same sc as joining; ch 1, sc in same sc and in next sc; 3 dc next sc; [sc in next 2 sc, 3 dc in next sc] 3 times; join in first sc. Fasten off.
Rnd 3: Join yellow in 2nd dc of any 3-dc group; ch 3 (counts as a dc), 4 dc in same dc -- beg corner made; dc in next 4 sts, [5 dc in next dc -- corner made; dc in next 4 sts] 3 times; join in 3rd ch of beg ch-3. Fasten off.

Assembly
Referring to photo for placement of Motifs, join Motifs in 3 rows of 3 Motifs each for front and back. To join Motifs, hold 2 Motifs with RS tog; with tapestry needle and purple, sew with overcast st through back lps only of each sc across 1 side. Join rem Motifs in same manner, being sure all 4-corner junctions are secure.

Border
Hold 1 front or back piece with RS facing you; join purple in 2nd sc in upper right-hand corner; ch 1, 3 sc in same sc; [sc in each sc to 2nd sc of next corner; 3 sc in 2nd sc] 3 times; sc in each sc to first sc; join in first sc. Fasten off.
Rep on rem piece.

Strap & Gusset
Row 1 (RS): With green, ch 7; sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each rem ch, turn.
Row 2: Ch 1, sc in each sc, turn.
Rep row 2 until piece measures about 62 inches or desired length. At end of last row, do not turn.
Fasten off and weave in ends.

Flower
Make 6.
Rnd 1 (RS): Thread purple through 1 bead; ch 2, 6 sc around half of strand that encloses bead, 6 sc around other half of strand; join in first sc. Change to yellow by drawing lp through; cut purple.
Rnd 2: Ch 1, [sl st in next sc, ch 1] 11 times; join in joining sl st. Fasten off, leaving an 8-inch end for sewing.

Finishing
Step 1: With tapestry needle and green, sew ends of Strap and Gusset tog, forming circle.
Step 2: Pin Strap and Gusset to 3 sides only of front or back piece. With green, sc through both pieces at same time, beg at 1 side and ending at end of 3rd side. Fasten off. Work joining of rem piece in same manner, being sure WS of squares are tog and working joining on outside of piece.

With purple, sc around inside edge of top opening of bag and Strap. Rep around outside edge of bag and Strap
