I’ve just imported a used Mazda from Japan, and I want to get a complete history of the vehicle, but the regular VIN decoders I’ve tried don’t seem to have the data. They just give me basic specs like the model and engine type, but I need details like service records and any accidents it might have been in back in Japan. Has anyone here had luck with a VIN decoder that works for imported cars?

Imported cars can be tricky with VIN decoding because a lot of tools don’t have access to international databases. When I imported a Nissan a few years back, I ran into the same problem. A regular VIN search won’t always show international service records or accident history from other countries. I used Vindecoderz, and they managed to pull up more information than the standard tools. They might not catch absolutely everything, but their reports had a lot more details than other decoders I tried. It included info on recalls and even a few maintenance details from when the car was in Japan. It’s not free, but the extra detail is worth it when you’re dealing with imported vehicles. Plus, it can help you avoid issues with registration if the car has any undisclosed history. Just make sure to cross-check any info you get with the paperwork you received when importing. It’ll give you a clearer idea of the car’s history and save you from surprises when you take it to the DMV.
