Eridanus es la sexta constelación más grande de las 88 constelaciones modernas. También es una de las 48 constelaciones de Ptolomeo.

En su extremo austral está la estrella de primera magnitud Achernar (α Eri). Achernar es una estrella muy peculiar porque es una de las estrellas más planas conocidas. Las observaciones indican que su radio es casi 50% más largo en el ecuador que en los polos. Esto se debe a que la estrella rota a gran velocidad.

Otra estrella bien conocida en Eridanus es Épsilon Eridani, que se ha hecho popular en la ciencia ficción porque está relativamente cerca y relativamente parecida al Sol. También se sabe que tiene al menos un planeta (ver planeta extrasolar), el cual es un gigante gaseoso, como Júpiter.

El rio Eridanus.

Eridanus se asocia con dos mitos griegos, ambos derivados de la forma de la constelación. A veces se consideraba a Eridanus como un río que fluía con las aguas de Acuario; en esos casos Aquarius miraba a Eridanus (lo que requería cambiar de ángulo y conexión de las estrellas de Acuario para que sus aguas fluyeran hacia Eridanus).

Eridanus se relacionaba sobre todo con el mito de Faetón, quien tomó el carro volador de Helios (el Sol), pero no tuvo la fuerza suficiente para controlarlo, y se fue en diferentes direcciones. El resultado es que a veces el carro se acerca mucho a la tierra, creando desiertos y quemando la piel de los humanos (un mito que explica la piel de los etíopes). Zeus intervino derribando a Faetón con un rayo. La constelación fue considerada originalmente como parte del camino atravesado por Faetón; después fue considerada como el río en que cayó. Los mitógrafos antiguos discutían si se trataba del río Po o del Nilo.

Jordan River
The name given by the Hebrews to the stream of evolving
life was of course the Jordan River, for they had named
their one great river with that designation of the stream
of evolution, taken from the sky charts of the earlier religious
systems. The spelling of this name Jordan was derived from the
name which the Greeks had given to it, the River Eridanus. And
that, going back a step, was derived from the original name it
ore in the Egyptian system, namely, the Iaru-Tana. Iaru is the
Egyptian source of the Greek hieros, and of the Hebrew Jeru
(in Jerusalem), both meaning “sacred,”“divine.” But Tana was
actually the name of the geographical lake out of which the great
Nile River (Spinal Cord) had its source, the celestial lake of sea of
source. It was localized in each country reformulating the archaic
religious tradition to suit its geography as the main river or lake
available on their map; in Egypt, the Nile, in Palestine the Jordan,
in Babylonian and Persia the Tigris-Euphrates, in India the Indus
or Ganges.The fish as symbol must then be thought of as the system
of organic material evolution that carries the nucleus of divine mind
forward to its goal of the consummation of natural life in its final
blossoming out into spiritual godhood. Whether discerned in its
full spiritual significance or not, enough of this purport clings to
the symbol in the primary motivations of Christianity to have been
embodied in a feature of priestly attire, the Bishop’s mitre, which is
shaped in the form of the fish’s mouth.
The evidence for this is found in the Latin name of ostincae, or
the tench’s mouth, the tench being a fresh-water European fish,
which, the dictionary says, was noted for its tenacity of life. The
door of life was figured in the shape of a fish- mouth at the western,
or feminine end of a church.
The zodiacal Pisces is the house of the birth of Saviors; Jesus,
Horus, Ioannes and other divine Avatars came as Ichthys, “fish” in
Greek. As has been seen, the fish’s bladder denoted the presence
of air in the water, and the stream of bubbles which one sees rising
from the fish’s mouth strengthens the suggestion as to the power
of the natural world to generate and bring to the surface the power
and function of mind (air) in the material conditions of physical
life, symboled by water.
Vividly, then, the fish as symbol holds before our minds the
idea that just as bubbles arise from the bottom of a pot of water
when heat is applied beneath, so when the fire of divine spirit, thr
oughincarnation,isbroughtdownunderthewateryelements in man’s
lower psychic nature, which are sense and emotion, the power of
thought, reason, intelligence and understanding is generated and
rises to the surface of consciousness exactly like the bubbles arising
from the fish’s mouth. Nature furnishes no end of these images of
the forms of divine truth, but it seems we are too dull, blind and
obtuse to discern them.
The fish symbol thus gives us the image of spirit-mind in
submergence, or the god power buried in matter. In spite of its
burial, however, it does not die, because it still can breathe under
the water. Several chapter titles of the Book of the Dead speak of
“giving air to the soul of Nu in the underworld.” Therefore ancient
constructions of enlightened fancy, finding analogues ubiquitously
in nature, pictured the god-soul in incarnation by the semenograph
of the great fish (sperm) transporting the divine unit of spirit
through, across or under the sea of life and landing it safely on that
“farther shore” of heavenly bliss and glory.
Here is the core of all the meaning that could ever be attached
to the Jonah-whale allegory. For,—do not doubt it—“Jonah,” along
with Joshua, Joses, Joash, Josiah, Jesse, Jehoash, Joram and others,
is the same Jesus—and therefore conclusively allegorical—as he
who live in the New Testament was also tossed on a ship in the
tempest, and, till aroused by the distressed sailors, was lying fast
asleep in the lower part, or “belly” of the ship.
This Jesus nature likewise lies long, all too long, asleep in the
“hold” of the human ship—these “Red Sea” bodies of ours—until
in the perils of the swirling tempests of our emotional and sensual
life, he is aroused and bestirs himself to take the tiller of our barque
in his hand of reason, conscience and his own divine impulsion,
and allays the virulence of the storm by the strength of his mind
and his will to righteousness.
The implications of the fish sign could be extended much further
and some of them would yield rich essence of meaning. Enough
has been presented here surely to indicate the graphic force of its
suggestiveness for any reflecting mind.
The central and cardinal significance is that of the analogue
in the natural world of the living presence in the watery confines
of the human body of the units of divine fiery essence of Godsoul
that can not be quenched even when submerged in the waters
of the sea of life. The fish should be a trenchant reminder and
assurance to us that even in the midst of the over flooding of our
higher spiritual genius by the lower appetencies and the glamors of
sense life, the fire of soul deep within us is unquenchable.
Not to be missed, also, is the emblemism of the mythic
creature, the mermaid. The sign of Pisces does represent the feet
of the human entity, as Aries, its neighbor the head. We have seen
that the Eridanus River of life, emanating from the mouth of the
Southern Fish, flowed right up to the foot of Orion. As the stellar
type of the Christ in man, the star, or constellation of Orion is
thus represented as standing in incarnation at the point where the
upsurging stream of evolution of matter and form pours at this feet
the forces and energies of the physical world, and it is for him to
gather them up and utilize them.
In this exertion and service he fulfills the purpose for which his
heavenly Father sent him out to stand on the border between spirit
and matter. So poetic imagery gave this creature of philosophical
fancy, the mermaid, to typify man as the dual creature he is,
combining the body of a natural animal with the soul of an
embryonic god, in sea imagery a human with the feet or tail of the
fish. It simply testifies with charming figure that the base of man’s
life is immersed in the sea.
I do not wish to add the confusion and therefore the following
will give you a clear understanding, the way I perceive what you
just read. The fish is the sperm or spermatozoa. The process is not as
spiritual process by its nature. It is a physical process on or about the
physical body. Bethlehem is the House of the Bread. It is no other
than the solar plexus in the human body or the lower stomach. All
fancy symbolism that embodies in your brain has people, events or
things are all parts of the physical body. They refer to the urine,
blood, secretion, permeation, hydrogen, nitrogen, carbon, oxygen;
all present in the lavatory of the body.
All those elements exist in your body and already transforms
your body from a limited physical into an unlimited immortal. No
need for prayer, meditation, initiation, suffering. The Kingdom of
the World is your hand. You have the fiduciary duty to yourself to
protect it at worst and to transform it at best.
However, there is a spiritual world. The spirit will like to hunt
you and take away from you this power. Don’t allow it! Don’t be
deceived! Remember the bible is not a story about people and events.
It’s the scientific book written in an Ancient language trying to
convey to you the operation of the anatomy of your body and the
power that you have within you. As you possess this power, you
also have the power to lose it.
Also remember that being selfish is not a bad thing.
If you start with the idea that you do this for all mankind, you
are already wrong from the beginning and mislead.

Aren’t there some striking parallels between the Jesus and Horus stories?
Hardly. For those unfamiliar with the Horus story, Horus is a character in Egyptian mythology, the son of the gods Isis and Osiris. There actually appear to be multiple deities named 'Horus', but the one who is the son of Isis and Osiris is the one the critics claim influenced the Jesus story.  For a quick and unbiased debunking of this story, go to any search engine and find a site on Egyptian mythology and read the Horus story for yourself (I've provided some links at the bottom of the page), or check the mythology section at your local library (go ahead, I dare you!). Acharya S's book "The Christ Conspiracy" is the apparent source of this list, but the author provides evidentiary footnotes for only nine of the claims, and those footnotes frequently disagree with her own claims!

Here are the claims of parallels between Jesus and Horus, with my responses:

1) Horus was born of the virgin Isis-Meri on December 25th in a cave/manger with his birth being announced by a star in the East and attended by three wise men.

Let’s take this one apart and deal with each separate issue:

Isis being a virgin is, at best, a "maybe", since there is evidence on both sides.  According to most scholars, Horus’ mother was not a virgin. She was married to Osiris, and there is no reason to suppose she was abstinent after marriage.  Horus was, per the story, miraculously conceived.  Seth had killed and dismembered Osiris, then Isis put her husband's dead body back together and had intercourse with it. In some versions, she used a hand-made phallus since she wasn't able to find that part of her husband.  So while it was a miraculous conception, it was not a virgin birth.  There are other versions of the story in which Horus' conception was non-sexual, but, since Isis was still married to Osiris, there's no reason to suppose that the authors of those stories intended for her to be a virgin.

However, there are a few university-level scholars who do argue that Isis was a virgin, and my criteria is to accept such scholars as evidence for the claim.  For example, it's argued by Bob Becking (Utrech University), Pieter Willem van der Horst  (Utrech University) and Karel van der Toorn (University of Amsterdam) in their book in their "Dictionary of Dieties and Demons in the Bible".

Sometime Christ-mythers respond by saying that since Mary and Joseph were married, shouldn't we then be concluding that Jesus wasn't virgin-born?  The difference is that the Bible clearly states that Mary and Joseph were abstinent until after Jesus' birth (Matthew 1:25).  We have no such declaration for Isis and Osiris.

Christ-mythers sometimes point to the inscription at Abydos, in which the word "hwn.t" is used to describe her.  "Hwn.t" can mean "virgin", but it can also mean "maiden" or "young woman".  It may imply virginity, but if it were used in the description of a woman who is married and/or has a child, then virginity wouldn't be assumed.  In the Abydos inscription, we see that Isis is the mother of Horus, so the logical assumption here is that, in this case, it's not calling her a virgin.  Yet Christ-mythers instead assume that it's calling her a "virgin mother".  To draw a comparison, suppose you were to see a girl who was twelve years old.  Would you assume she was a virgin?  Probably.  But suppose you were to see a twelve-year-old girl who had a baby.  Would you then conclude that she wasn't a virgin, or would you conclude that she was a virgin mother?  The former, obviously, but what Christ-mythers are doing here is the equivalent of the latter.

Horus was given three different birthdates in mythology, one of which does correspond to December 25th.  But since Jesus wasn't, per the evidence, born on 12/25, this isn't a parallel.  Also, there's no evidence that this date was applied to Horus in pre-Christian times.

"Meri" (technically "Mr-ee") is the egyptian word for "beloved" and was apparently applied to Isis prior to Jesus' time, as a title, not as part of her name.  But since there were probably thousands of women between Horus' time and Jesus' with a name or title that was a variation on "Mary", there's no real reason to suppose that Jesus' mother was named after Isis in particular.  Even if, hypothetically, the Gospel authors themselves fabricated Jesus' mother and decided to name her "Mary", it's far more likely that they named her after other women from around their time than it is that they named her after "Isis-Meri".

Horus was born in a swamp, not a cave/manger.  Acharya's footnotes for this point only make the claim that Jesus was born in a cave, and say nothing about Horus being born in one.

Horus' birth was not announced by a star in the east.  Some Christ-mythers claim that the "star in the east" is Sirius, but Sirius is not "in the east" in any sense.  No stars can reside exclusively in the east or west, due to the rotation of the Earth.

There were no “three wise men” at Horus’ birth, or at Jesus’ for that matter (the Bible never gives the number of wise men, and they showed up at Jesus’ home, not at the manger, probably when Jesus was a year or two old).

Acharya's source for the last two claims appears to be Massey, who says "the Star in the East that arose to announce the birth of the babe (Jesus) was Orion, which is therefore called the star of Horus. That was once the star of the three kings; for the 'three kings' is still a name of three stars in Orion's belt . . . "  Massey's apparently getting mixed up, and then the critics are misinterpreting it.  Orion is not a star, but a constellation, of which there are three stars in a row making up the belt of Orion.  However, there is no evidence that these three stars were called the "Three Kings" prior to Jesus' time, nor even prior to the 17th century, for that matter.

I've seen some Christ-mythers claim that the three stars in Orion's belt "follow" the star Sirius across the sky at night, thus corresponding to the three wise men following the star in the east.  The problem is that stars move east to west, and Sirius is EAST of Orion's belt.  Thus they don't follow Sirius across the sky, but move AHEAD of it.

And even if there is a specific star called 'the star of Horus', there's no legend stating that it announced Horus' birth (as the critics are claiming) or that the three stars in Orion's belt attended Horus' birth in any way.

2) His earthly father was named "Seb" ("Joseph").

First of all, there is no parallel between the Egyptian name “Seb” and the Hebrew name “Joseph”, other than the fact that they’re common names. Also, Seb was Osiris’ father, not Horus’.

3) He was of royal descent.

This one’s true!  But it's not really a comparison to Jesus.  When followers speak of Jesus being of 'royal descent', they usually mean His being a descendent of King David, an earthly king.  Horus was, according to the myth, descended from heavenly royalty (as Jesus was), being the son of the main god.

4) At age 12, he was a child teacher in the Temple, and at 30, he was baptized, having disappeared for 18 years.

He never taught in any temple and was never baptized.  Also, Jesus didn't 'disappear' in the years between His teaching in the temple and baptism. He worked humbly as a carpenter.

5) Horus was baptized in the river Eridanus or Iarutana (Jordan) by "Anup the Baptizer" ("John the Baptist"), who was decapitated.

Again, Horus was never baptized. There is no “Anup the Baptizer” in the story.

6) He had 12 disciples, two of whom were his "witnesses" and were named "Anup" and "Aan" (the two "Johns").

Horus had four disciples (called ‘Heru-Shemsu’). There’s another reference to sixteen followers, and a group of followers called ‘mesnui’ (blacksmiths) who join Horus in battle, but are never numbered. But there’s no reference to twelve followers or any of them being named “Anup” or “Aan”.

7) He performed miracles, exorcised demons and raised El-Azarus ("El-Osiris"), from the dead.

He did perform miracles, but he never exorcised demons or raised his father from the dead. There is a version of the story in which Osiris is resurrected, but it happens prior to Horus' birth.  Also, Osiris is never referred to as ‘El-Azarus’ or ‘El-Osiris’ (clearly an attempt to make his name more closely resemble the Bible’s “Lazarus”).

8) Horus walked on water.

No, he did not.

9) His personal epithet was "Iusa," the "ever-becoming son" of "Ptah," the "Father." He was thus called "Holy Child."

Horus was never referred to as “Iusa” (nor was anyone in Egyptian history - the word does not exist) or “Holy Child”.

10) He delivered a "Sermon on the Mount" and his followers recounted the "Sayings of Iusa."

Horus never delivered such a sermon, and, as pointed out above, he was never referred to as “Iusa”.

11) Horus was transfigured on the Mount.

No, he was not.

12) He was crucified between two thieves, buried for three days in a tomb, and resurrected.

Horus was never crucified (crucifixion didn't exist until around 600 BC, long after the stories of Horus). There’s an unofficial story in which he dies and is cast in pieces into the water, then later fished out by a crocodile at Isis’ request. This unofficial story is the only one in which he dies at all.

As for resurrected, this one is at best a "maybe".  The source for this claim is the Metternich Stela (aka the Magical Stela), which dates to the 4th century B.C.  It describes Horus, while hiding in a marsh with his mother, Isis, being bitten by a poisonous scorpion.  Isis cries out for help.  In the Budge translation of the stela, it says "In answer to these words Thoth, turning to Isis and Nephthys, bade them to fear not, and to have no anxiety about Horus, "For," said he, "I have come from heaven to heal the child for his mother." He then pointed out that Horus was under protection as the Dweller in his Disk (Aten), the Great Dwarf, the Mighty Ram, the Great Hawk, the Holy Beetle, the Hidden Body, the Divine Bennu, etc., and proceeded to utter the great spell which restored Horus to life."  While this translation suggests a resurrection, the problem is that other sources disagree with it, saying that the stela claims that Horus was merely sickened, then cured.  Even Budge's translation says that Thoth came to "heal the child", and you don't heal a corpse.  The website of the Metropolitan Museum of Art (metmuseum.org), which is the museum where the stela is currently located, says the following about the inscription: "Isis speaks and recounts that while she and Horus were still hiding in the marshes, the child became ill. In her despair, she cried for help to the "Boat of Eternity" (the sun boat in which the god travels over the sky), and the sun disk stopped opposite her and did not move from his place. Thoth was sent from the sun boat to help Isis and cured Horus by reciting a catalogue of spells." (source).  Other sources also agree that the Stela says "sickened, then cured" rather than "killed, then resurrected", such as this one.

13) He was also the "Way, the Truth, the Light," "Messiah," "God’s Anointed Son," the "Son of Man," the "Good Shepherd," the "Lamb of God," the "Word made flesh," the "Word of Truth," etc.

The only titles Horus is given are “Great God”, “Chief of the Powers”, “Master of Heaven”, and “Avenger of His Father”. None of the above titles are in any Egyptian mythology.

14) He was "the Fisher" and was associated with the Fish ("Ichthys"), Lamb and Lion.

He was never referred to as “the fisher”, and there are no lamb or lion in any of the stories.  Acharya S.'s footnotes on this claim only show an association with fish (which is that Horus WAS a fish, unlike Jesus), with no evidence of his being called 'the fisher' or having any association with a lamb or lion.

15) He came to fulfill the Law.

There was no “law” he was supposed to fulfill.

16) Horus was called "the KRST," or "Anointed One."

He was never referred to by either of these titles.  "Krst", in Egyptian, means "burial", by the way.  It wasn't a title.

17) Like Jesus, "Horus was supposed to reign one thousand years."

No mention of this in Egyptian mythology.

The River Eridanus,

the French Eridan, the Italian Eridano, and the German Fluss Eridanus, is divided into the Northern and the Southern Stream; the former winding from the star Rigel of Orion to the paws of Cetus; the latter extending thence southwards, southeast, and finally southwest below the horizon of New York City, 2° beyond the lucida Achernar, near the junction of Phoenix, Tucana, Hydrus, and Horologium. Excepting Achernar, however, it has no star larger than a 3d‑magnitude, although it is the longest constellation in the sky, and Gould catalogues in it 293 naked-eye components.

Although the ancients popularly regarded it as of indefinite extent, in classical astronomy the further termination was at the star θ in 40°47′ of south declination; but modern astronomers have carried it to about 60°.

With the Greeks it usually was ὁ̔ Ποταμός, the River, adopted by the Latins as Amnis, Flumen, Fluvius, and specially as Padus and Eridanus; this last, as Ἐριδανός, having appeared for it with Aratos and Eratosthenes. Geographically the word is first found in Hesiod's Θεογονία for the Phasis1 in Asia, celebrated in classic history and mythology,

That rises deep and stately rowls along

into the Euxine Sea near the spot where the Argonauts secured the golden fleece.

Other authors identified our Eridanus with the fabled stream flowing into the ocean from northwestern Europe, — a stream that always has been a matter of discussion and speculation (indeed, Strabo [V.1.9] called it "the nowhere existing"), — or with Homer's Ocean Stream flowing around the earth, whence the early titles for these stars, Oceanus and the River of Ocean. They also have been associated with the famous little brook under the Acropolis; with the Ligurian Bodencus — the Padus of ancient, and the Po p216of modern, Italy [Diodorus, V.23.3], — famous in all classical times as the largest of that country's rivers, Vergil's Rex fluviorum [Georg. I.482]; with the Ebro of Spain [Pliny, N.H. XXXVII.31‑32]; with the Granicus of Alexander the Great; with the Rhenus and the Rhodanus, — our Rhine and Rhone; and with the modern Radaune, flowing into the Vistula at Danzig.

Some of these originals of our River, especially the Padus, were seats of the early amber trade, thus recalling the story of the Heliades, whose tears, shed at the death of their brother Phaëthon, turned into amber as they fell into "that stream of tears" on which that unfortunate was hurled by Jove after his disastrous attempt to drive the chariot of the sun. This was a favorite theme with poets, from Ovid, in the Metamorphoses [II.319 ff.], to Dean Milman, in Samor, and the foundation of the story that the river was transferred to the sky to console Apollo for the loss of his son.

But none of these comparatively northern streams suit the stellar position of our Eridanus, for it is a southern constellation, and it would seem that its earthly counterpart ought to be found in a corresponding quarter. In harmony with this, we know that Eratosthenes and the scholiasts on Germanicus and Hyginus said that it represented the Nile, the only noteworthy river that flows from the south to the north, as this is said to do when rising above the horizon. Thus it is Nilus in the Alfonsine Tables, the edition of 1521 saying, Stellatio fluvii id est Eridanus sive Gyon sive Nilus; Gyon2 coming from the statement in Genesis ii.13:

the name of the second river is Gihon: the same is it that compasseth the whole land of Cush;

this latter being misunderstood for the Nile country instead of the Asiatic Kush that was unquestionably intended by the sacred writer. La Lande cited Mulda, equivalent to another title for the stellar Eridanus, — Μέλας, Black, — and so again connected with Egypt, whose native name, Khem, has this same meaning, well describing the color of the fertile deposit that the Nile waters leave on the land. This became the Latin Melo, an early name for the Nile [Serv. ad Georg. IV.291], [Paul. ap. Fest.], as it also was for the constellation.

This allusion to the Nile recalls the ancient wide-spread brief that it and the Euphrates were but different portions of the same stream; and Brown, in his monograph The Eridanus, argues that we should identify the Euphrates with the sky figure. He finds his reasons in the fact that both are frequently alluded to, from very early days to the classical age, as The River, p217the Euphrates originally being Pura or Purat, the Water, as the Nile was, and even now is, Ioma or Iauma, the Sea; that they resemble each other as long and winding streams with two great branches; that each is connected with a Paradise — Eden and Heaven; that the adjoining constellations seems to be Euphratean in origin; and that each is in some way associated with the Nile, and each with the overthrow of the sun-god.

There is much in the Euphratean records alluding to a stellar stream that may be our Eridanus, — possibly the Milky Way, another sky river; yet it is to the former that the passage translated by Fox Talbot possibly refers:

Like the stars of heaven he shall shine; like the River of Night he shall flow;

and its title has been derived from the Akkadian Aria-dan, the Strong River. George Smith thinks that the heavenly Eridanus may have been the Euphratean Erib-me‑gali.

Its hither termination at the star Rigel gave it the title River of Orion, used by Hipparchos, Proclus, and others; and Landseer wrote:

the stars now constellated as Erydanus were originally known in different countries by the names of Nile, Nereus, and Ocean, or Neptune.

Riccioli cited for it Vardi, and a Moorish title, according to Bayer, was Guad, — the 1720 edition of the Uranometria has Guagi, — all these from the Arabic wādī, and reminding us of the Wādī al Kabīr, the Great River, the Spaniards' Guadalquivir; but the common designation among the Arabians was Al Nahr, the River, transcribed Nar and Nahar, — Chilmead's Alvahar; this Semitic word, occasionally written Nahal, also having been adduced as a derivation of the word Nile.

Assemani quoted Al Kaff Algeria from the Borgian globe for stars in the bend of the stream; but Ideler claimed these for Al Kaff al Jidhmah of Cetus.

Caesius thought our Eridanus the sky representative of the Jordan, or of the Red Sea, which the Israelites passed over as on dry land.

Old illuminated manuscripts added a venerable river-god lying on the surface of the stream, with urn, aquatic plants, and rows of stars; for all of which the Hyginus of 1488 substitutes the figure of a nude woman, with stars lining the lower bank. Bayer's illustration is quite artistic, with reeds and sedge on the margins. The monster Cetus often is depicted with his fore paws, or flippers, in the River.

α, 0.4, white.

Achernar is from Al Āḣir al Nahr, the End of the River, nearly its present position in the constellation, about 32° from the south pole; but the p218title was first given to the star now lettered θ, the farthest in the Stream known by Arabian astronomers. For α Bayer had Acharnar pro Acharnahar vel Acharnarim, and Enar; Caesius, Acarnar; Riccioli, Acarnaharim and Acharnaar; Scaliger, Acharnarin; Schickard, Achironnahri; while Achenar and Archarnar are still occasionally used.

This star is supposed to be one of Dante's Tre Fascelle, notwithstanding its invisibility from Italy.a

Chinese astronomers knew it as Shwuy Wei.

Ptolemy did not mention it, although he could have seen it from the latitude of Alexandria, 31°11′, — a fact, among others, which argues that his catalogue was not based upon original observations, but drawn from the now lost catalogue of Hipparchos, compiled at Rhodes, more than 5° further north, from which place Achernar was not visible.

It culminates on the 4th of December, due south of Baten Kaitos.

β, 2.9, topaz yellow.

Cursa, 3° to the northwest of Rigel in Orion, is the principal star in this constellation, seen from the latitude of New York City.

The word is from Al Kursiyy al Jauzah, the Chair, or Footstool, of the Central One, i.e. Orion, formed by βλ, and ψ Eridani with τº Orionis, and regarded as the support of his left foot; but in the earlier astronomy of the nomads it was one of Al Udḥā al Naʽām, the Ostrich's Nest, that some extended to ο1 and ο2.

The Century Cyclopedia gives Dhalim as an alternative title, undoubtedly from Al Ṭhalīm, the Ostrich; but, although used for β by several writers, this better belongs to θ.

The Chinese called β Yuh Tsing, the Golden Well.

γ1, 3, yellow.

Zaurac and Zaurak are from the Arabic Al Nā᾽ir al Zauraḳ, the Bright Star of the Boat; but Ideler applied this early designation to the star that now is α of our Phoenix.

With δεη, and others near, it made up the Chinese Tien Yuen, the Heavenly Park.

η, 3.7, pale yellow.

Azha is supposed to have been the Azḥā of Al Sufi, and the equivalent Ashiyane of the Persians, and was known by Kazwini as Al Udḥiyy, being p219chief among the stars of the Ostrich's Nest, which the word signifies. The other components were ζρ, and σ; but this last, the 17th of Ptolemy, is not now to be identified in the sky, although it may be one of the three stars ρ displaced by proper motion since Ptolemy's time.

Near η, towards τ, are some other stars — ε and π Ceti among them — which in early days were included in the Nest, but later were set apart by Al Sufi as Al Sadr al Ḳetus, the Breast of the Whale.

θ, Double, 3 and 5.25.

Achernar was the early name for this at the then recognized end of the stream, Halley saying of it, ultima fluminis in veteri catalogo, referring to Tycho's work, of which his own was a supplement. Various forms of its title are given under α, but Acamar, from the Alfonsine Tables, is peculiar to θ.

Ulug Beg called it Al Ṭhalīm, the Ostrich, but Hyde rendered this the Dam, as if blocking the flow of the stream to the south.

Bullialdus, in his edition of Chrysococca's work, had it Αὖλαξ,º the Furrow, equivalent to the sulcus used by Vergil to denote the track of a vessel, appropriate enough to a star situated in the Stream of Ocean; and Riccioli distinctly gave Sulcus for it in his Astronomia Reformata.

It is the solitary star visible from the latitude of New York City in early winter evenings, low down in the south, on the meridian with Menkar of the Whale; but Baily said that its brilliancy has probably lessened since Ptolemy's time, for the latter designated it by αi.e. of the 1st magnitude.

Between it and Fomalhaut lie many small stars, not mentioned by Ptolemy, that Hyde said were Al Zibāl; but Al Sufi had already called them Al Ri᾽āl, the Little Ostriches.

ικφ, and χ, of about the 4th magnitude, were another Tien Yuen of the Chinese, different from that marked by γ; ι and κ are the lowest in the constellation visible from the latitude of New York.

μ and ω, 4th‑magnitude stars lying westward of β, were Kew Yew in China; Reeves including under this title b and the stars of the Sceptre.

ο1, 4.1, clear white.

In early Arabia this was Al Baīḍ, the Egg, from its peculiar white color, as well as from its position near the Ostrich's Nest. Modern lists generally write it Beid.

Situla, the Urn, also has been used for it, although there is no apparent applicability here, and the title is universally recognized for κ Aquarii.

p220 ο2, Triple, 4, 9.1, and 10.8, orange and sky blue,

is the Keid of modern lists, Burritt's Kied, from Al Ḳaid, the Egg-shells, thrown out from the nest close by.

The Abbé Hell used it in the construction of his constellation Psalterium.

Its duplicity was discovered by Sir William Herschel in 1783, and in 1851 Otto Struve found the smaller star itself double and a binary of short period. The system is remarkable from its great proper motion of 4ʺ.1 annually. The two larger stars are 83ʺ apart, at a position angle of 108°, and the smaller 4ʺ apart, at an angle of 111°. The parallax by Elkin indicates a distance of twenty light years.

τ2, 4, yellow.

Angetenar of the Alfonsine Tables, now the common title, the Argentenar of Riccioli and Anchenetenar of Scaliger, is from Al Ḥināyat al Nahr, the Bend in the River, near which it lies; Ideler transcribing this as Al Anchat al Nahar. This is one of Bayer's nine stars of the same letter lying just above Fornax; he said of them, sibi mutuo succedentes novem.

See found, in 1897, a 14.9‑magnitude bluish star, about 52ʺ away, at a position angle of 128°.3.

mark another series of seven stars called in Bayer's text Beemim and Theemim. This last, used by Bode and now in current use, is perhaps the Arabic Al Tau᾽amān and the Jews' Tĕōmīm, the Twins, from the pairs υ1υ2, and υ3υ4. Grotius thought it derived either from the foregoing or from an Arabic term for two medicinal roots; but Ideler's suggestion that it is from the Hebrew Bamma᾽yim, In the Water, would seem more reasonable, although we have but few star-names from Judaea, and he intimated that it might be a distorted form of Al Ṭhalīm, the Ostrich. The Almagest of 1515 has Beemun; and the Standard Dictionary, The.eʽ.nim.

1 This is the modern Rion, or Rioni, the Fasch of the Turks; this last title being a general appellation in early Oriental geography for all rivers, perhaps from the Sanskrit Phas, Water, or Was, still seen in the German Wasser.

2 The word Sihor for the Nile, in our Authorized Version of Jeremiah ii.18, is Γηων in the Septuagint, Josephus also using it in his Ἰουδαϊκή Ἀρχαιολογία, or Jewish Antiquities, in referring to the Nile as one of the four great branches of the River of Paradise.

According to the Catholic Encyclopedia, the Feast of the Transfiguration of Christ is commemorated on August 6. That would put the sun in the middle of Leo. Why is this? Christ's shining face symbolizes the sun, and his garments the stars. Verse 6 doesn't say how he was transfigured. Figure 1 suggests that the Lamb of God was transfigured into the Lion of the tribe of Judah. I suppose that Matthew saw this was an exchange that belonged in the House of Libra. There is a hint in verse 1 that it wasn't in Libra when Jesus is said to have led them up a high mountain. There is a precedent: When Moses came down from the mountain, his face was also said to shine (Ex. 34:29). On that occasion, the mountain symbolized the summer solstice.

Zechariah Sitchin, in his book 'The Stairway to Heaven', on page 296 states: "Somewhere along the 'Line of Jerusalem', the central flight line that was anchored on Mount Ararat, the Spaceport itself had to be located. There too, the final beacon had to be located. "Mount Sinai, in the center of the desert."

It is here, we suggest, that the dividing line which we now call the Thirtieth Parallel (north) had come into play.

We know from Sumerian astronomical texts that the skies enveloping Earth, were so divided as to separate the northern 'way' (allotted to Enlil) from the southern 'way' (allotted to EA) with a wide central band considered the 'Way of Anu'. It is only natural to assume that a dividing line between the two rival brothers should also have been established AFTER the deluge when the settled Earth was divided into the Four Regions, and that, as in pre-Diluvial times, the Thirtieth Parallels (north and south) served as demarcation lines.

Was it mere coincidence, or a deliberate compromise between the two brothers and their feuding descendants, that in each of the three regions given to Mankind, the sacred city was located on the Thirtieth Parallel?

The Sumerian texts state that "When Kingship is lowered from Heaven" after the Deluge, "Kingship was in Eridu."  Eridu was situation astride the Thirtieth Parallel as close to it as the marshy waters of the Persian Gulf permitted. While the administrative-secular center of Sumer shifted from time to time, Eridu remained a sacred city for all time.

The sanctity of the Thirtieth Parallel must be traced back to the Sacred Grid, when the divine measurers determined the location of the pyramids of Giza, also on the Thirtieth Parallel. Could the gods have given up this 'sanctity' or neutrality of the Thirtieth Parallel when it came to their most vital installation - The Spaceport - in their own Fourth Region, in the Sinai peninsula?

On page 76 of Sitchin's book 'The Wars of Gods and Men', he states: "In all these writings, be it long epic tales or two-line proverbs, in inscriptions mundane or divine, the same facts emerge as an unshakable tenet of the Sumerians and the peoples that followed them. In bygone days, the DIN.GIR - "The Righteous Ones of the Rocketships," the beings the Greeks began to call 'gods' - had come to Earth from their own planet. They chose southern Mesopotamia to be their home away from home. They called the land KI.EN.GIR - "Land of the Lord of the Rockets" (the Akkadian name, Shumer, meant "Land of the Guardians"), and they established there the first settlements on Earth.

The statement that the first to establish settlements on earth were astronauts from another planet was not lightly made by the Sumerians. In text after text, whenever the starting point was called, it was always this: 432,000 years before the Deluge, the DIN.GIR ("Righteous Ones of the Rocketships") came down to Earth from their own planet. The Sumerians considered it a twelfth member of our Solar System - a system made up of the Sun in the center, the Moon, all the nine planets we know of today, and one more large planet whose orbit lasts a 'Sar' (3,600 Earth years). This orbit, they wrote, takes the planet to a 'station' in the distant heavens, the brings it back to Earth's vicinity, crossing between Mars and Jupiter. It was in that position - as depicted ina 4,500 year old Sumerian drawing that the planet obtained its name NIBIRU ('Crossing') and its symbol, the Cross.

The leader of the astronauts who had come to Earth from Nibiru, we know from numerous ancient texts, was called E.A. ("Whose House Is Water"); after he had landed and established Eridu, the first Earth Station, he assumed the title EN.KI ("Lord of Earth").

A text that was discovered in the ruins of Sumer records his landing on Earth as a first-person report:

When I approached Earth

When I approached its green meadows,

I built my house in a pure place ...

The text then proceeds to describe Ea's efforts to build extraordinary waterworks in the marshlands at the head of the Persian Gulf. He surveyed the marshlands, cut canals for drainage and water control, built dykes, dug ditches, and built structures of bricks molded from the local clays. He joined the Tigris and Euphrates rivers by canals; and at the end of the marshlands he built his Water House, with a wharf and other facilities.

On page 87, we are told: As more Anunnaki landed on Earth - their number rose in time to 600 - some were assigned to the Lower World to help Enki mine the gold, others manned the ore ships; and the rest stayed with Enlil in Mesopotamia. There, additional settlements were established in accordance with a master plan laid out by Enlil, as part of a complete organizational plan of action and clear-cut procedures.

       According to the calendar of 12 months with 30 days each, utilized by Noah, this 150 day period consisted of 5 months. This is established in Gen. 8:3b, which states: "and after the end of the one hundred and fifty days the waters were abated." If we add these 5 months to the second month mentioned in 7:11, we come to the seventh month.

       From the 17th day of the 2nd month, to the 17th of the 7th month is exactly 5 months, in the 12 month, 30-day calendar. The Hebrew word for the "tops" of the mountains in verse 5: "rosh" [H7218]2 in the context of Noah's calendar, is also rendered "Dog-star" in Job 38:13 and 15, in reference to the star Sirius, in The Revised English Bible.3 The ancients many times used the mountain ranges set against their horizon, as a reference point to orient themselves regarding the seasonal positions of the stars, Sun and Moon in their cycles. Archaeo-Astronomy notes a rich history of this practice in ancient cultures of the world and this could be very early evidence, perhaps even of the origins of this practice with the Biblical Patriarchs. This would also have associated the only star that provides a 365.25-day calendar, that also happens to be the brightest star in the heavens, with the highest mountain peaks where the Ark came to rest. If this is evidence of Noah's wisdom regarding the recognition of the Sirius or Sothic Calendar as it became known in ancient Egypt, it gives us an initial glimpse that the Biblical Patriarchs kept both of these calendars at the same time, as part of their harmonized luni-solar year. This also agrees with the Creator's purpose for the celestial lights stated in Genesis 1:14-17, to shed light upon the earth, in relation to the timekeeping of weeks, days and years. The luni-solar harmony based on the phi ratio [1.618...] which contains 618 lunations in every 50-year Jubilee cycle, exhibits the divine signature of the Creator's handiwork, as the "Source of life" throughout all levels of His Creation. This is why we also find the phi ratio or the divine proportion, so ubiquitously in all levels of the Kingdoms of Life in Nature. The phi ratio is the master pattern of all growth life on earth, as various life forms progress through succeeding geometric stages of life development.  
      This is God's way of illustrating His Intelligent Design of Creation. We find common elements of this temporal harmony in the 50-year Jubilee, preserved in the Old Testament Law, coinciding with the 50-year cycle of "Sirius A" with "Sirius B,," the White Dwarf companion of the Dog-star. The beauty and precision of the original pattern of the Creator's divine design of the heavens was clearly corrupted in Babylonian Astrology, witnessed in how the Babylonians later employed with their partial zodiac of normal stars, with elements of their sidereal year. Their normal stars were a group of 31 stars that appear in early cuneiform texts as reference points for planetary positions in Babylonian divinatory Astrology. Added to what we have found here in Genesis 8:5, in reference to the middle-east's highest mountain peaks, rosh [H7218] also occurs in the Biblical context of the summit of the ziggurat or Tower of Babel [Gen. 11:4], and the "cheif cornerstone" [Ps. 118:22, Eph. 2:20].
       The blueprint of Noah's 360-day calendar was carried forward with the builders of the Tower of Babel, not in the original sense of spreading the message of mankind's Coming Redeemer, written in the celestial gospel, but in an idolatrous sense which began to mix in their idolatrous practices of Astrology with the original Astronomy of these Patriarchs, not honoring the true God. This is a major reason that they incurred God's judgement of the confusion of tongues at Babel, because this early attempt at a one-world government motivated by Nimrod, outside of Godly standards and opposed to Godly purposes, just had too much of an advantage going for it. Thus God took action to prevent it. You would think these people would learn that ultimately, it does not pay to oppose the Creator and His divine purpose, it only shows the extent to which "the god of this world has blinded the minds of them which believe not," [II Cor. 4:4]. Still, we find that many aspects of the original truth in the celestial gospel, were carried forward in a mathematical and geometric context, found in these Babylonian, Mexican and Egyptian temple-towers or "step pyramids," like the one found at Saqqara in ancient Egypt, built according to a septenary pattern. Below is an example of the Mayan Pyramids, like Quetzalcoatl's Pyramid, that incorporated a model regulated on the dimensions of the Earth, even as the Great Pyramid of Gizeh. 



       According to H.G. Wood: "the ziggurat of Jupiter Belus at Babylon had an ideal basis in the number 360. He describes a 7-staged pyramid in which each of the six upper stages is 360 inches shorter than the one next below it: the base side was 3,600 inches, and the total height of the structure was 3,600 inches. Wood therefore concludes that: the entire system of ancient Babylonian metrology appears to have been derived from 360 x 360 x 100 or, 12,960,000."4

       This numerical total (12,960,000) happens to be half the length of solar years in the precession of the equinoxes showing the precessional basis of timekeeping as an ancient temporal standard related to Noah's calendar. This perfect template of the cosmic order is based on the beauty of the precessional pattern, as seen in the sun’s trajectory through it’s annual course, where it "dwells" in each of the 12 houses of the zodiac for one month. The Sun moves in its circuit at a rate of 12 miles per second or 43,200 miles per hour (1/3 of 1,296,000) carrying its train of planets in our solar system, and shedding its light upon the earth within the boundary lines of the tropic of Cancer and Capricorn. As the Sun illuminates the earth for twelve hours each day; (43,200 seconds), and since there are 86,400 seconds in each 24-hour day, we find the earth moving through 1,296,000 seconds of arc every 24 hours. It is also interesting to note that the diameter of the sun is 86,400 miles, thus the time it takes for the sun’s light to cover the space of the earth’s surface relates to it’s own diameter. We can find the consistency of this divine rule of light, or the Creator’s DNA, at every level of the temporal and physical order, marking & dividing the seasons, days and years [Gen. 1:14-18]. Also, this shows that the builders of the Great Pyramid were intimately aware of this divine standard, since they modeled the earth’s northern hemisphere on a [1/43,200] scale, upon which the Pyramid represents the exact dimensions of the Earth, long before they were rediscovered by modern science. When we divide the sun’s orbital speed of 43,200 mph, by the 12 houses of the ecliptic, we get 3600, or the number of arc-minutes in a solar day. This matches the 36 decans of the zodiac’s 360 degrees, the same celestial and numeric standard manifested at increasing powers of 10, showing the Creator's signature of Symmetry throughout His Creation. The sun’s orbital speed; of 43,200 mph, is also 10% of half of its circumference in miles (864,000 miles or 2/3 of 12,960,000). This is undeniably the signature of the divine Hand of the Creator, or the Great Geometer as the Pythagoreans called Him, exhibiting the dominion of His divine measure of Light, His own essence ruling over all kingdoms of terrestrial and temporal life. [John 1:3-4]

       These mathematical principles survived in the Astronomy of ancient Mesopotamia which formed the basis of their advanced practices in celestial science, but with the adulteration of their practices in Astrology over time, they wandered further away from their true origins. As the floodwaters continued to abate so that the peaks or tops of the mountains were visible, on the first day of the tenth month, this according to Bullinger, was the only recorded flood date that is not a sabbath.
      In ancient Egypt where the Sothic Calendar was based on the star Sirius, coordinated the first day of the sidereal year in harmony with the first day of the lunar year and the New Years Day of the solar year, that also marked the annual flooding of the Nile. But due to the 365-day Egyptian Civil Year losing a day every 4 years (365 x 4=1460 days) against the 365.25-day Sirius calendar (1461 days), it actually took 1461 years for the Egyptian Civil Year to return in synch with the Sirius cycle's realignment on New Year's Day. Here we can see a year-day relation between the 1461 days of the Sirius calendar and the 1461 years it took the Egyptian civil calendar to realign with Sirius on New Year's Day. There are Biblical prophecy precedents for this day-year correspondence [Num. 14:34, Ezek. 4:4-6] which relate directly to the 40-year cycle, which itself contains 14,610 days, (1461 x 10). We have pointed out the significance of this 40-year generational cycle previously relating to Noah's period in building the Ark (40 x 3 = 120) along with the correlations to Moses leading the Children of Israel through the wilderness for 40 years, during the third 40 year segment of his own life of 120 years. We have also recognized the relation of this 120-year period (120 x 3 = 360) to Noah's Calendar. Again, this is evidence of the Creator's consistent pattern of symmetrical Intelligent Design throughout multiple levels of Creation, that collectively become an undeniable and overwhelming cascade of truth, exhibiting His Divine Omniscience. This is far beyond man's ability to fully comprehend, we can only point to its perfection and give honor and glory where its due, to the Only One capable of putting it All together-The Almighty God.

      There were similar calendrical observances in ancient Babylon. Lets take time to closely inspect one of these rituals in ancient Babylon and note some of the important parallels between the mythology of ancient Egypt and Babylon, and the Biblical record. The creation myth in ancient Babylon was called the Enuma elish. It records the victory of their god Marduk, over the chaos of the underworld and his subsequent ordering of the Babylonian cosmos. Their ritual for the New Year occurred at the equinox either in the spring or the fall. This ceremony at the entering of the New Year was called akitu and it lasted 11 days, which is interesting in light of the fact that there is an 11-day gap between their 354-day lunar year and the 365-day solar year, which would have harmonized the luni-solar cycle, ushering the New Year. This 11-day gap expanded to 7 months over the 19-year lunar saros, and 235 full moons of the Metonic Cycle. According to E.C. Krupp:

    "In the first three days of the ceremony, Marduk was symbolically confined in what texts call 'the Mountain.' For three days Marduk remains in the underworld, a realm of chaos and the dead. The term "Mountain" also refers to the tall, multi-leveled temple-towers (or ziggurats) the Mesopotamians built of clay bricks on the flat flood plain of the Tigris and Euphrates rivers. It is possible that this point in the ceremony was connected in some way with the ziggurat. On the Fourth day of the akitu, the Enuma elish was repeated, and this activity, accompanied perhaps by others, brought Marduk back to life and allowed him to emerge from the Mountain, or the underworld...Marduk's emergence from the mountain at the equinox and New Year, in any case, represents the creation of the world order. Krupp continues his statment: "By staging this myth in ritual terms at the turning point of the seasons and the year, the Babylonians recognized their cyclic nature of the world. The end of each year is a reentry into the time before the creation of the world. The previous world must break down before it is refabricated, and that is why Marduk is imprisoned and slain in the Mountain."5  [emphasis mine]

       This scenario is most likely recalled in a cylinder seal from the Akkadian period [2360-2180 BC.] shown below. Here the Babylonian sun-god Shemesh (with a saw in his hand)appears at dawn, marked between the mountain peaks on the horizon.6 The idea of this equinox sunrise at New Years is conveyed by the two-faced figure at the far right, an early representation of the Roman god Janus, whose two faces facing in opposite directions, symbolize one view of the going out of the year just passed, while the other face greets the coming New Year. The ancient Chaldeans actually attribute their astronomical knowledge to Noah, who was also known by the name Janus/Oannes, as the inventor of Astronomy. In these traditions Noah became a "two faced" diety since he could look both backwards and forwards via his astronomical expertise, and the truth that he and his family were the only ones who lived on the other side of the great flood.. This depicts how the Biblical Patriarchs themselves were diefied by the ancient heathen cultures of the middle east because Janus, as a corrupted form of Noah, was seen as a solar diety, like Shemesh. The Chaldean "Epic of Gilgamesh" is only one example of this traditional corruption, as witnessed in the Akkadian cylinder seal below. 
     



        

       The parallels of this myth in its agreement with what Christ endured are too close to be explained away as coincidence, especially since Noah was also seen as a forerunner of Christ our Savior. The Mythographers have just got the order reversed. They say that the myths came before the story as it is recorded in the New Testament, which is true, but their myths do not precede the witness of the stars that predate written human language, when the Creator recorded His celestial gospel, telling of the coming redeemer, on the fourth day of the Creation Week. The three days that Marduk spent in the realm of the dead, within the World-Mountain, represent the seven-leveled ziggurat rising above the chaotic flooded plains of the fertile crescent, mirroring the three days and three nights that Jesus spent in the heart of the earth [Matt. 12:40]. This fulfilled the legal definition of death, in the Law of the Old Testament, part of Jesus work as the passover lamb to fulfill every jot and tittle of the Old Covenant Law, which no other man could ever do, because Jesus is the only one qualified to die for the sins of humanity as a perfect sacrifice, a lamb of the first year, without spot or blemish. Jesus also conquered death when he was brought back from the dead, arising at the start of the fourth day. Jesus' resurrection most certainly ushered in a New World, throwing down and refabricating Satan's fallen kosmos, and world order of darkness which was handed over to him when Adam fell. It is noteworthy that Jesus was born on Tishri 1 of 3 BC, our September 11th, the equivalent of New Years Day on Israel's calendar, the anniversary of Creation, and he was crucified during the Passover on our April 28th, 28 AD. Both these dates are very near the equinox, his birth in the fall month of Tishri, the seventh and holiest month on the calendar of Israel, and his sacrifice in the spring month of Nisan.
       The idea that the end of each year is a reentry into the time before the creation of the world, mirrors the disruption of the First Heavens & Earth that resulted from Lucifer's revolt and original sin, which left that world destroyed by the floods of II Pet. 3:6, aligning with the Gen. 1:2 record. This cosmology has been fully elucidated in our article on The Creator's Temporal Order, under the The Intelligent Designer section of our Try-God website. This period of chaotic floods is common to both Egyptian and Babylonian myths, not to mention many others, and is characterized by the world-mountain that rises above the chaos of the flood-waters, which threw time into disorder. It was the corruption of our Hero's journey written in the stars, but recast in the Astrology of the world monomyth of these ancient heathens, that diluted the original truth with foreign admixtures. Yet for those with eyes to see and ears to hear, the truth cannot be covered, as we find it still shining through these ancient idolatrous veneers. The parallels of this record along with what we have already seen regarding the New Year observances in ancient Egypt, provide strong support for our thesis, that the major elements originally preserved in the celestial narrative of the promised coming redeemer, Jesus Christ, are mirrored in important aspects of these ancient myths. This explains why these tenets of the world monomyth, as Joseph Campbell called it, are so consistent the world over, in cultures separated in time and space. The Hero's journey, which is the master theme of all good stories, the record of the struggle of the protagonist against the antagonist, was first embodied in the story of the ages, written in the stars, and preserved as an archetypal memory at the deepest foundations of human history. Man has historically linked these observances with his temporal conception and calendrical practices, as a key aspect of his cultural world order, or the cosmology of his day. Thus our recognition of the tenets of Noah's calendar provide great keys to our understanding of the cosmology of the Biblical Patriarchs, which Noah preserved after the flood.

    Genesis 8:13-14
    And it came to pass in the six hundredth and first year, in the first month, the first day of the month, waters were dried up from off the earth: and Noah removed the covering of the ark, and looked, and behold, the face of the ground was dry. 14 And in the second month, on the seven and twentieth day of the month, was the earth dried.

       In verse 13 above, "the first month, the first day of the month" is not only recognized here for the drying of the flood waters, but also coincides with the birth of Christ on Tishri 1, millennia later in  3 BC, New Years Day in Israel, also known as Rosh Hashannah, the anniversary of Creation, in Hebrew tradition. Tishri became the 7th month after the change that the Lord directed Moses to undertake in the marking of the Passover [Exod. 12:2,14ff], fulfilled by Jesus, the lamb of God. This denotes a change in the calendar of the Biblical Patriarchs Administration, preserved under Noah, transitioning to the Old Testament Law Administration under Moses, and it also officially recognizes the start of the Jubilee cycle in Israel [Levi. 25:8]. Once Jesus fulfilled every "jot and tittle" of the Mosaic Law, the Law ended and we are no longer under its myriad dictates, which were too heavy a burden for mortal man to bear. Thus we are commanded by the Apostle Paul in Colossians to:

    Colossians 2:16-17
    Let no man judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of a holyday, or of the New Moon, or of the sabbath days: which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ.

    Ruth tiene otra conexión más con Shavuot, y es que ella se convirtió en ancestro del Rey David, quien nació en Shavuot, y murió en Shavuot.

    En Shavuot es costumbre decorar la sinagoga con ramas y flores. Esto es porque el Monte Sinai floreció el día en que se entregó la Torá. La Biblia también asocia a Shavuot con la cosecha de trigo y frutas, y marca el momento en que se traían los primeros frutos al Sagrado Templo, como una expresión de gracias (ver Éxodo 23:16, 34:22 y Números 28:26).

    Considerando entonces la importancia de la fecha 2012 en el calendario maya, se ha descubierto que ese año específicamente apunta a un periodo de tiempo cuando el Sol del Solsticio de diciembre se alinea con y surge fuera del telón de la grieta oscura, el "Canal Galáctico de Nacimiento” en la protuberancia central.

     

    Es como si el Sol realmente estuviera naciendo nuevamente del Útero Galáctico.
