I am a first time tax filer, filed 2020 tax returns and accepted march 11, being waiting since. Today I called the customer service number, waited an hour in line to get connected to an agent only to hear they don’t have my information yet since I am a first time filer. The agent asked me to keep checking the where’s my refund app or else try making an appointment with an office near me.

And guess what, you cant make appointments online you have to call them, like you did to talk to an agent. And when tried that it says they’re busy for the day and asked me to call tomorrow.

I don’t understand for the love of god, why IRS don’t have dedicated phone lines per state basis. If you need something wait in line with the whole of America. And why they don’t have an option to book online appointment like you book a drivers license appointment.

For a developed country like USA this IRS infrastructure is third worldly.

So, did anyone of you make appointment with an office regarding your tax return? What was you experience? Can they help me since I am a first time filer?
