Lucien Khan arranged these 60 digits of the pattern in a circle, as shown in illustration below:

The zeros align with the 4 cardinal points on a compass.
The fives align with the 8 other points of the 12 points on a clock.
Except for the zeros, the number directly opposite each number adds to 10.
Lucien postulates that ancient knowledge of these relationships contributed to the development of our modern use of 60 minutes in an hour, and presentation of numbers on the face of the clock.
I found too that any group of four numbers that are 90 degrees from each other (15 away from each other in the circle) sum to 20, except again for the zeros. As an example, use 1, 7, 9 and 3, which appear one to the right of each of the compass points.
Additionally, every group of five numbers that define the points of the 12 pentagons on the circle also create a pattern. Four of the pentagons have even-numbered last digits of 0, 2, 4, 6, and 8. The remaining eight pentagons have odd-numbered last digits of 1, 3, 5, 7 and 9.
Another interesting pattern yet was observed by Lucien Khan: The 216th number is this sequence is 619220451666590135228675387863297874269396512. The sum of all the digits in that number add up to 216, as well. He notes that it is believed that the secret or hidden name of God contains 216 characters. The height of the Statue of Liberty is 111′-1″ from bottom of foot to top of head. The 7 rays on the crown and the 11 points of the base star echo the proportions of the Great Pyramid’s 7:11 height to base proportion. Troyes is the former capital of Champagne and is a perfect short trip visit from Paris. At just an hour and a half by train it can be a day trip but a couple of days and an overnight stay would be better because there’s so much to see and do in this lovely, vibrant city.
A town that is shaped like a Champagne cork in Champagne?
Troyes is an ancient city, once a Roman town with a direct road from Milan and onwards to Boulogne-sur-Mer on the Opal Coast in the north of France – the route for the invasion of Britain. Later the rich and powerful Counts of Champagne built a palace in Troyes and it was a prosperous place that attracted merchants from all over Europe. The counts fortified their town and though at that time Champagne didn’t even exist, the walls took the form of a Champagne cork.
Following a huge fire in 1524 that destroyed many of the ancient buildings that were constructed from wood, new brick buildings were erected and many of them remain to this day. Indeed the inhabitants of Troyes lived in these buildings pretty much as they had been for hundreds of years right up until the 1950s. It was a decade when the town council went on a bit of a renovation rampage to improve conditions since many of the old buildings had no bathrooms and poor hygiene conditions.
Fortunately they didn’t destroy too much and visiting Troyes is like stepping back in time. Every street seems to have its quota of half-timbered houses and there are cobbled streets and tiny alleyways that create a mesmerising maze in the centre of the old town of Troyes. In the little ruelle des Chats (Cats Alley) you’ll see it is so narrow that the houses lean in and touch via a central gutter at the top and cats could cross from houses on both sides of the roads. At the side of the office of the Mutuelle Societe at 111 rue Emile Zola you can enter a gate and at the back you’ll discover a stunning renaissance house looking exactly as it did when it was built. At the Cour du Mortier d’or, the ancient timber frames still bear the workman’s trademarks.
Everywhere you go here you’ll discover traces of history from hundreds of years ago, quaint, quirky and irresistibly charming…

Chris and Penny at Regina University's Math Central (Canada) show how we can use any circle to construct on it a hexagon and an equilateral triangle. Joining three pairs of points then reveals a line and its golden section point as follows:
On any circle (centre O), construct the 6 equally spaced points A, B, C, D, E and F on its circumference without altering your compasses, so they are the same distance apart as the radius of the circle. ABCDEF forms a regular hexagon.
Choose every other point to make an equilateral triangle ACE.
On two of the sides of that triangle (AE and AC), mark their mid-points P and Q by joining the centre O to two of the unused points of the hexagon (F and B).
The line PQ is then extended to meet the circle at point R. Q is the golden section point of the line PR.
Q is a gold point of PR The proof of this is left to you because it is a nice exercise either using coordinate geometry and the equation of the circle and the line PQ to find their point of intersection or else using plane geometry to find the lengths PR and QR.
The diagram on the left has many golden sections and yet contains only equilateral triangles. Can you make your own design based on this principle?

Modelled on the Roman Pantheon, the tiny church of Santa Maria della Maddalena, or simply La Maddalena, is a Venetian mystery. Perhaps its most notable feature are the masonic symbols above the door. The all-seeing eye inside an interlocking circle and triangle is one of the symbols of freemasonry and both the church’s architect and patron were freemasons. The mystery is amplified by the fact that the church is almost always closed to visitors – so much so that I’ve never seen the inside.
The 18th-century neoclassical edifice we see today is the work of Venetian architect Tommaso Temanza who entirely rebuilt an earlier church using a circular plan inspired by the Pantheon in Rome. The Roman Pantheon itself, one of the best preserved buildings of the antiquity, is a special design echoed by the much later symbols of freemasonry. It incorporates a circular wall plan and a rectangular portico while its circular dome has an eye-like opening in the centre of the roof called an oculus.
La Maddalena’s site, owned by the patrician Balbo (or Baffo) family, had a church as early as the 13th century. There is some evidence of the family’s association with the Knights Templar. In the 18th century, Venice had an influential fraternity of freemasons whose members also included the famous adventurer Giacomo Casanova. The owners of the old religious site who were also affiliated to the freemasonry contracted Temanza, also a member of the fraternity, to build a masonic church in Venice.
Judging by the symbol of the all-seeing eye above La Maddalena’s entrance and its Latin inscription attributed to Solomon: Sapientia edificavit sibi domum (“Wisdom has built a home for itself”), Temanza was also a dabbler in the same undercurrent of esoteric freemasonry as Mozart. The architect is buried inside the church and his headstone is apparently decorated with a line and set of compasses, the most common symbol of the freemasons whose members would see themselves as ‘builders’.
It is also no surprise that this peculiar small masonic church is dedicated to Mary Magdalene. Despite being the first witness to Christ’s resurrection, she is more commonly remembered as a reformed prostitute. This mysterious figure, sometimes rejected by the church, was instead beloved by the freemasonry whose members considered her a symbol of wisdom and the struggle against the obscurantism of the church. With her church in Venice almost never open to visitors, this struggle is apparently real.
