These are the four creatures of Ezekiel 1:10 and Revelation 4:7 which also relate to the four Apostles, the seasons, the elements and the guardians of the four directions.

In churches, the four signs of the Zodiac often reoccur and are associated with ‘Judgment Day’ and the ‘End of Times’

Judgement Day.JPG
Jesus portrayed at the Last Judgment can often be found in the Tympanium above the entrance of churches and cathedrals. Notice, the lion (Leo) on the left, the bull on the right (Taurus), the angel on the left (Aquarius) and the eagle on the right ( Scorpio).

The four evangelists Luke, John, Mathew and Mark likewise have been associated with these four Zodiac signs as well:

Mark = Scropio (Eagle),          Luke = Taurus,                  John = Leo,              Matthew = Aquarius

Galactic Equator

On Earth, the River Nile was the reflection of this great river in the sky, in accordance with the Hermetic principle "as above, so below." Herschel's earliest ingenious research has demonstrated that all of the pyramids along the river Nile represent constellations along the Milky Way, not just Orion! There are more than 50 pyramids in total, and their true meaning can only be deciphered when one considers the whole of Egypt.

During a Great Celestial Conjunction, the Sun crosses that great river in the sky, the Milky Way. Egyptologists explain that the solar God Ra (and Horus) required a boat because they sailed the Heavens from sunrise in the East to sunset in the West. At night, Ra travelled the Netherworld to be reborn in the morning at sunrise. Egyptologists reject the idea that the Egyptians understood the Precession of the Equinoxes and that the Sun also sojourns along the zodiac in a 26,000 year journey corresponding with the Precession Cycle.

In the Book of the Gates, the travel of the Sun at night along with the deceased pharaoh into the Netherworld is described. The Sun enters the Netherworld in the first hour just after sunset to be reborn in the morning at sunrise after a twelve hour nocturnal journey. There are many parallels, however, with the precessional journey of the Sun along the twelve signs of the zodiac to be discovered in the Book of the Gates. The 12 hours in the Book of Gates are structured into four groups of three hours, denoting a cross in the face of the clock. In the 12th hour Nun raises the solar barque with the scarab beetle of the Sun God from the primeval waters (Milky Way?), this is the hour of the rebirth of the Sun.

During Ra's travel through all of the twelve signs of the zodiac in the precession cycle, he will be requiring a boat to twice cross that great river in the sky, the Milky Way! It is probably the only reason why the Egyptian deities required a Sun barque in the first place. Boats are used to cross waters, not skies, so it was used not for their nightly ecliptic travel from East to West through the Netherworld, but for their travels along the zodiac in the precession cycle. It is during this journey that the Sun would be required to cross the waters of the Milky Way at least twice. The Book of the Gates may therefore have been misinterpreted by Egyptologists as the nocturnal journey of the Sun simply because they reject the idea that the Egyptians understood Precession! Keep in mind that only twice per year on the equinox the day and night will be exactly 12 hours in length. It is therefore far more logical that the 12 hours in the Book of the Gates are in fact the 12 zodiacal Ages of the Precession Cycle.

Pharaohs in ancient Egypt were buried with their arms crossed holding Ankhs in their hands. This posture of the deceased pharaoh can be found on sarcophagus and in statues throughout Egypt. The Ankh represents a cross symbol.

Since the Greek inherited much of their wisdom from the Egyptians, it's more than reasonable to suspect that the gate or portal mentioned in the Book of the Gates through which the pharaoh enters the Netherworld is, in fact, the Gate of God that the Greek writer Macrobius writes about. The Gate of God was also called the Golden Gate, while the Gate of Men was called the Silver Gate. The very same Egyptian cross symbolism used by the pharaohs associated with the Golden and Silver gates of the soul (and the Sun) can still be recognized in the coat of arms of the Vatican, consisting of two crossed keys; one Golden, one Silver.

The Golden Gate is the ecliptic Milky Way crossing at the Scorpio-Sagittarius nexus on the zodiac while the Silver Gate is the Milky Way ecliptic crossing at the Gemini-Taurus nexus. The Silver Gate was represented by the horns of Isis and the associated bull Taurus.

The Silver Gate is also clearly depicted in the Narmer Palette (3100 BC) named after the Egyptian pharaoh. The Narmer Palette shows the celestial goddess bull Bat (Taurus) with her horns bent over pointing exactly to the place of the rebirth of the Sun, the Silver Gate. The two cow's heads on top of the palette also represent Bat. In-between the two cow goddesses a hieroglyph is depicted representing the rising of the Sun in between two mountains on the horizon. It's a hieroglyph that is very similar to the Akhet hieroglyph with the same significance.

Bat was the goddess of the Milky Way considered to be a pool of Bat's cow milk. Bat was also the goddess of the human soul, the "Ba" that incarnated into human life form. Since the soul incarnated into human life passing through the Silver Gate (crossing of Milky Way and ecliptic), it's not surprising that Bat was both the goddess of the Milky Way and the human soul. Ba is a derivative of Bat, whereas "Ka" represents the human light-body. "Mer" represents the light of the Egyptian light-body-soul complex, the "Mer-Ka-Ba." Bat was also called the "Ba of Two Faces." Egyptologists are in the dark about her name and don't seem to understand that she was called this way, because there are actually two portals both to and from the Netherworld for the Ba to descend into the physical plane (Silver Gate) and ascend from the physical plane (Golden Gate). Both Hathor, Isis and Bat are all cow goddesses and Egyptologists have often pointed out the similarities between these goddesses depicted with cow-horns suspecting that they may have the same origins...they all represent the Silver Gate.

At the bottom of the Narmar palette in-between the horns of the bull, the very same hieroglyph is depicted as the one shown between two Bat bulls on top of the palette. This Akhet-like hieroglyph symbolises the rising Sun on the horizon.

On the other side of the Narmer palette two identical men, hence suggesting twins are depicted. They are both looking over their shoulders to a particular square over the left man’s shoulder. We surmise that the twins represent Gemini which would make sense since the actual ecliptic Milky Way crossing of the Silver Gate occurs in 5° Gemini (sidereal zodiac) and the square could therefore be suggesting the Silver Gate.

The author Audrey of the website "Ancient Egypt" writes while referring to the Narmar Palette: "They present an overview of the astronomical event which occurred on September 21st in 4468BCE, when the Autumn (Fall) Equinox of the Sun was in conjunction with the Milky Way."

At the Autumnal Equinox, the Sun was indeed at the Milky Way, however at the Golden Gate. At the Vernal Equinox of 4468 BC, the Sun resided at the Silver Gate. The author (Audrey) does not seem to realise that this moment represented a Great Celestial Conjunction when the equinox axis (Vernal and Fall) aligned with the Galactic Equator and the Sun resided at the Gates of the Gods.

Instead, while interpreting the hieroglyphs of the 10 decapitated figures near the Solar Barque, he writes quote, "The full meaning of the hieroglyph can therefore be interpreted as 'the Sun at a sacred gateway, opening or portal'..."

While Hathor, Isis and Bat are all cow goddesses, Egyptologists have often pointed out the similarities between these goddesses depicted with cow-horns suspecting that they may have the same origins. . . .
We suggest that they all represent the Silver Gate.

There is an even older Egyptian goddess that later was associated with Isis and Hathor. Her name is Serket and she was the deification of the scorpion goddess who healed stings and bites. Eventually, Serket was associated with Isis and she was said to be just an aspect of Isis. Serket and Isis can therefore be regarded as the ‘Ba of Two Faces’. While Isis represents the Silver Gate at the Gemini-Taurus nexus, Serket is her counterpart and she represents the Golden Gate at the Scorpio-Sagittarius nexus. This is why she’s wearing the scorpion on her head while she joined Ra in his barque on his journey around the zodiac in a Great Year.

The sacred Egyptian scarab beetle is a metaphor for the Sun in the precession cycle whereas the dung ball represents the Sun. The scarab beetle rolls its dung ball with his hind legs backwards, symbolizing the backward motion of the Sun through the zodiac in the precession cycle. Since the scarab beetle has many similarities with a scorpion, we surmise that Serket and the scarab beetle both represent the Golden Gate in Egyptian mythology.

Era invierno(Aqui NUESTRO SEÑOR esta HACIENDO REFERENCIA A JANUKAH EN JUAN 10 :22 INTERRELACIONADO CON EL 22 DE DICIEMBRE (DICIEMBRE RELACIONADO CON EL DECIMO COMO NOVIEMBRE CON EL NOVENO Y ASI SUCESIVAMENTE)
10:23 y Jesús andaba en el templo por el pórtico de Salomón.
10:24 Y le rodearon los judíos y le dijeron: ¿Hasta cuándo nos turbarás el alma? Si tú eres el Cristo, dínoslo abiertamente.
    10:25 Jesús les respondió: Os lo he dicho, y no creéis; las obras que yo hago en nombre de mi Padre, ellas dan testimonio de mí;

Scorpio is the eighth Sign of the Zodiac. After Libra's intellectual exploration of other people, Scorpio's interest is in discovering other people's emotions and how they respond to the world around them. Scorpio is the Sign of Sex and Death, the beginning and ending of things, and they explore these ideas from an emotional standpoint. People born under this Sign are investigative and probing, often strongly intuitive and penetrating. As the eighth Sign, Scorpio also rules the eighth House: the House of Sex.

    The Sign In Depth

The Astrological Symbol of Scorpio is the Scorpion. Like the mythical Scorpion, people born under this Sign tend to be strong-willed and wary of being controlled by others. At times they can be self-destructive, like the Scorpion who kills itself rather than letting someone else kill it. They are very determined, and once they've made up their minds they are unlikely to change them. They tend to be stubborn, refusing to give up when others have long since gotten bored and abandoned a project, and getting things done when no one else thought it possible. In this way, Scorpio exemplifies the Fixed Quality assigned to it. They are one of the Power Signs (the others being Taurus, Leo and Aquarius). Scorpios tend to have their own agenda, and work intensely to achieve their desires. People who wish to change a Scorpio's mind often have trouble because they can never be sure what their motivation is; Scorpios are too complex and sometimes secretive to be understood easily. Within the Zodiac, Scorpio is opposite Taurus, the Sign of Possessions. While both Signs can be possessive, Taurus is concerned with personal property and Scorpio tends to be about community resources and group investments. They are very resourceful and self-confident.

Scorpio is ruled by the Planets Mars and Pluto. In ancient Roman mythology, Mars (and his Greek equivalent, Ares) was the God of War, and ancient astrologers assigned both Aries and Scorpio to this Planet. Pluto (and his Greek equivalent, Hades) was the God of the Underworld, and when the Planet Pluto was discovered early in the 20th Century astrologers assigned Scorpio to this Planet. Under Mars' influence, Scorpio is the behind-the-scenes tactician while Aries is on the front lines. Scorpio's modern ruler, Pluto, represents Death and Endings; it's the Sign of rebirth and regeneration. When the Scorpion loses its tail, it regenerates a new stinger, and Scorpios can be reborn the same way after they suffer losses. In addition, Pluto is a strong Planet. It teaches a valuable lesson: while Scorpio has a tendency to be possessive, Pluto pulls things away.

The Element associated with Scorpio is Water. Water Signs are emotional: they tend to respond to the world through emotion, rather than physical action, practicality, or intellect. Scorpio's motto could be "still water runs deep." They may repress their emotions, but underneath they are lusty and perceptive. At times, though, Scorpio's water can be stagnant, depending on whether they use their energy in a positive or negative way. They may be vengeful or vindictive and unable to get past personal slights. Scorpios are motivated and loyal, but they are often misunderstood and people may see them as dictatorial or sarcastic. If they have an ulterior motive, they can be overbearing, but in a subtle, sly, or manipulative way. Scorpios are both mystical and scientific, a combination that makes them very aware of what is happening around them; they are a Sign of great depth. If they aren't careful, though, their passionate nature may lead them into self-indulgence or compulsion.

The myth of the Phoenix is strongly associated with the Sign of Scorpio. The Phoenix is regenerated from the ashes of its death, and it rises into the sky, reborn. The most highly evolved Scorpios aspire to be the Phoenix or Eagle, rising above the ordinary world and into something extraordinary. Suspicion and jealousy can pull them down, but passion and awareness can help them rise above this.

In their leisure time, Scorpios enjoy competition and challenge. They aren't satisfied with moving along at half speed or lowering their abilities to allow people with lesser skills to beat them. They enjoy difficult pursuits that challenge them to excel, and they refuse to settle for being anything less than the best. In love relationships, Scorpio is caring, devoted, and possessive.

Scorpio rules the reproductive organs. People born under Scorpio may be more susceptible to infections and fevers than people of other Signs. Scorpio's colors are powerful and strident, like Scorpions: black and red.

The great strength of the Scorpio-born is in their determination to see things through to the end. They refuse to allow boredom to turn them away from projects, and they are committed to accomplishing what they set out to do. Their passion and strength makes them one of the most powerful characters of the Zodiac.

    San Andreas

Tracing the path of Carnival Splendor from beginning to end (Nov 7-11, 2010) puts the final nail in the coffin as far as legitimizing the ominous scenario.

It went from the Port of Long Beach, right where people saw the "Mystery Missile", to the Port of San Diego...

Join the dots literally and we get the bearing ~41.6 degrees from due south, which is azimuth 138.4 deg., precisely matching the angle (= azimuth = grid based on horizon) of the brightest star of the Phoenix constellation rising below the horizon at the moment of sunset on November 8 (i.e. the time of the Mystery Missile).

Extend the line in the opposite direction and it pinpoints with chilling precision... San Francisco - our "phoenix city"!

And here comes the really ominous part...

The Scorpion, the Eagle and the Phoenix

    posted by Lynn Hayes

Since we are in a time of heavy Scorpio influence right now I thought it would be appropriate to spend a few days delving into the mystery of this sign. Scorpio is a multidimensional sign with both an ancient ruler (Mars) and a modern ruler (Pluto). The ancient rulers of the multidimensional signs tend to show where we can get stuck in stereotypes, and the modern rulers show the transformational pathway.

Scorpio has not just two symbols but three: the Scorpion, the Eagle and the Phoenix. Scorpio fearlessly delves into the darker emotions of the human psyche; like the Scorpion, the Scorpio personality prefers to crawl low to the ground, hiding in hidden corners and is prepared to sting and destroy if threatened in any way. This illustrates the Mars factor of the earth-bound nature of Scorpio: the aggressive intensity of rage and self-protection. The Eagle shares with the scorpion the ability to strike at a moment’s notice, but where the Scorpion’s journey is low to the ground the Eagle soars above the earth, proud and free. The Eagle has a probing eye that sees what others miss and like the Mars warrior, is very aware of the subtle dynamics of power.

The Phoenix is the transformational symbol of Scorpio. Like the Eagle, in ancient times the Phoenix was a symbol of the Sun that was said to live for 500 years. At the end of its life it built a funeral pyre and burned in the flames, only to regenerate its progeny from those very flames. The Scorpio nature cannot run from the destruction of the fire of its emotional intensity, but within that fire is the secret of immortality and resurrection. Scorpio is a water sign but Mars bestows the essence of fire as well and with it the courage to enter the fire and become transformed.

Deb Houlding has an excellent article on Scorpio in this month’s Mountain Astrologer which is also on her website. I was particularly interested in the analysis Deb did of the scorpion and eagle connection:

If, as the Egyptians thought, scorpions represent initiation into the sacred mysteries, we can consider the sign’s other related creature, the eagle, as a higher expression of Scorpio power. Many ancient astrologers, including Ibn Ezra [Arabic astrologer] , recognised eagle symbolism as valid to this sign, since the biblical prophet Ezekiel described a vision, believed to be drawn from Babylonian astrology and representative of the ‘fixed cross of matter’:

As for the likeness of their faces, they four had the face of a man [Aquarius], and the face of a lion [Leo], on the right side: and they four had the face of an ox [Taurus] on the left side; they four also had the face of an eagle [Scorpio]. (Ezekiel 1 verse 10).

Saint John’s book of the Apocalypse (Revelation 4, v7) also alludes to the vision, of which Fred Gettings, in The Secret Zodiac, writes:

The eagle of St John is the eagle of Scorpio, which sign (alone of all the twelve) has two images, the eagle the symbol of the redeemed and spiritualized Scorpionic nature, the scorpion its fallen, unredeemed and earth-bound nature. [2]

Transcendence from the crawling scorpion to the soaring eagle, still predatory, still conveying the essence of patience and penetration, but capable of flight and height, brings together the theme of destruction and renewal as a story of evolution.

With five planets still in Scorpio for the next week, we are all facing the call to explore the inner recesses of our psyches and see where we need to face the fire and rise again.

    Scorpius

Map of The Constellation of Scorpius
Please hover over any star to get more information
Scorpius is a constellation in the southern hemisphere, located near the centre of the Milky Way galaxy. It was one of the constellations introduced by the Greek astronomer Ptolemy in the 2nd century. Scorpius represents the scorpion that stung and killed Orion, the mythical hunter who boasted that he could kill any wild animal. The Earth sent the scorpion to kill Orion after hearing what he had said. In another version of the Greek tale, it was the goddess Artemis who sent the scorpion after Orion had tried to ravish her. Even today, it is said that Orion flees under the horizon whenever Scorpius rises in the sky. The two constellations are placed opposite each other. The Sumerians also identified the constellation with the scorpion, or Gir-tab. Scorpius is depicted with its tail and sting poised in the air, ready to strike.

The constellation Scorpius occupies an area of 497 square degrees and contains ten stars with known planets. It can be seen at latitudes between +40° and -90° and is best visible at 9 p.m. during the month of July. Astronomically, the Sun lingers in Scorpius only for a week, from November 23 to November 30, but most astrologers consider it to be in the sign of Scorpio from October 23 to November 23. In sidereal astrology, the Sun passes through Scorpio from November 16 to December 16.

Scorpius contains a number of bright stars, most of which are members of the Scorpius-Centaurus Association, the closest stellar association to our solar system.

The brightest star in the constellation is [7516] alpha Scorpii, or Antares ("like Mars"), named for its reddish-orange colour, which resembles that of the planet Mars. Antares is a red supergiant with a radius about 800 times that of the Sun. It is classified as a variable star; its apparent magnitude varies between 0.9 and 1.8. It has a hot blue companion star about 2.9 arcseconds away.

Antares is the 16th brightest star in the sky. It is approximately 600 light-years distant from Earth. It is also of the brightest stars near the ecliptic, the Sun’s apparent path in the sky. The only other first magnitude stars on the ecliptic are [7931] Aldebaran (alpha Tauri), [8774] Spica (alpha Virginis) and [4806] Regulus (alpha Leonis).

Antares is significant in many different cultures. In Arab tradition, it was said to be the star of the warrior poet Antarah ibn Shaddad. Arabs also used to call the star Kalb al Akrab ("the scorpion's hart"), a translation of the ancient Greek name for the star, Kardia Scorpiou, as well as the Latin, Cor Scorpii.

In Egyptian tradition, the light of Antares played an important part in the ceremonies performed in the temples. Ancient Persians called the star Satevis and considered it to be one of the four "royal stars." Antares was also important in the religion of Stregheria, a pagan, pre-Christian religion in Italy in which the star was believed to be a fallen angel and guardian of the western gate. In ancient India, Antares was known as Jyeshtha.

[7517] lambda Scorpii, the second brightest star in Scorpius, is also called Shaula ("the sting"). It is located at the end of the scorpion’s tail, marking the sting. Shaula is a multiple star, composed of a B-type subgiant, which is itself a triple star, and two fainter companions. The primary star is classified as a Beta Cephei variable, a star that shows changes in luminosity because of pulsations on its surface. Shaula is approximately 700 light-years distant.

[7522]-[7553] beta Scorpii, also known as Graffias ("claws") and Acrab ("scorpion"), is another multiple star system. The Chinese called it the Fourth Star of the Room. Acrab appears as a binary star composed of two hot, B-class stars that are suspected spectroscopic binaries themselves.

[7520] delta Scorpii, or Dschubba ("forehead") marks the middle of the scorpion’s head. It is also known as Dzuba, Iclarcrau and Iclarkrav. It is a multiple star with a hot class B star for the primary component. It lies about 402 light-years from Earth.

[7518] theta Scorpii is a yellow giant star approximately 270 light-years distant, whose luminosity is 960 times that of the Sun. It is also known by its Sumerian names Girtab ("the scorpion") and Sargas, whose meaning has been lost.

[7535] nu Scorpii or Jabbah ("forehead") has at least four components, split into two groups. The brighter pair consists of B class subgiants and the fainter pair is composed of B class main sequence dwarfs. The star system lies approximately 437 light-years from Earth. It is the light of nu Scorpii that illuminates the large reflection nebula IC 4592, also located in Scorpius.

[7545] xi Scorpii has at least five components, split into two groups lying 4.67 arcminutes away from each other. The brighter group contains two yellow-white F-type stars – a subgiant and a dwarf – and a fainter companion. The fainter group consists of two K-type stars.

[7525] pi Scorpii, another multiple star system, is composed of a contact binary star of the Beta Lyrae type and a fainter, more distant companion. Both components of the contact binary are hot blue-white dwarfs. Pi Scorpii is approximately 459 light-years distant.

[7528] mu-1 Scorpii is another example of an eclipsing binary star of the Beta Lyrae type. Both components are blue-white stars; one is a subgiant and the other a dwarf. The system is about 822 light-years away from Earth.

[7526] sigma Scorpii is also known as Al Niyat ("the arteries"), a name it shares with [7524] tau Scorpii. It is another multiple star, 735 light-years distant. Its primary component is a blue-white giant classified as a Beta Cephei variable. [7524] tau Scorpii is a blue-white dwarf, approximately 430 light-years distant.

[7523] upsilon Scorpii, or Lesath ("bite of a poisonous animal"), is another hot B-class star, a subgiant, in the constellation. It is approximately 520 light-years distant and has luminosity 12,300 times that of the Sun.

Scorpius also contains several notable deep sky objects. The Butterfly Cluster, or Messier 6 (NGC 6405) is an open cluster of stars that form a shape similar to that of a butterfly. The brightest star in the cluster is BM Scorpii, an orange supergiant, while most of the other bright members are hot, blue B-type stars.

The Ptolemy Cluster, named after the Greek astronomer, is also known as Messier 7 or NGC 6475. It is an open cluster visible to the naked eye, located near the scorpion's sting. It contains about 80 stars.

Messier 4 (NGC 6121) is a globular cluster easily found and observed even in very small telescopes. It lies 1.3 degrees away from [7516] Antares. The cluster is approximately 7,200 light-years distant. It is one of the closest globular clusters to Earth.

Messier 80 (NGC 6093) is another globular cluster in Scorpius. It can be found halfway between [7516] alpha and [7522]-[7553] beta Scorpii. It is one of the densest globular clusters in the Milky Way, containing several hundred thousand stars. Messier 80 lies 32,600 light-years from Earth.

NGC 6231 is an open cluster that can be seen near zeta Scorpii. [7544] zeta-1 Scorpii (HR 6262) belongs to the cluster and is the hottest star in it. NGC 6231 is believed to be only 3.2 million years old. It belongs to the Scorpius OB Association of very young stars. The cluster is approaching us at the speed of 22 kilometres per second.

Scorpius belongs to the Zodiac family of constellations, along with Leo, Virgo, Libra, Sagittarius, Capricornus, Aquarius, Pisces, Aries, Taurus, Gemini and Cancer.

Constellations directly bordering Scorpius are Sagittarius, Ophiuchus, Libra, Lupus, Norma, Ara and Corona Australis.
