DOES THE TIMELINE OF NOAH'S FLOOD POINT DIRECTLY TO 4/11/12?
This post is a continuation of the two posts that I have written in the past few days. These two posts are linked below:
In Luke 17:26, Jesus says, "As it was in the days of Noah, so shall it also be in the days of the coming of the Son of man." God chose to give us an entire one-year timeline of the Great Flood in Noah's day. He detailed different events and different timelines during the entire year of the Flood. We must ask ourselves, "Why?"
Gerry Almond has discovered the entire 120-year timeline of the building of the Ark and the Great Flood, points from the start of the Jewish nation in the last days, DIRECTLY TO DEC. 6-- 7, 2015, HANUKKAH EVE, THE SCHEDULED START DATE OF THE MILLENNIAL REIGN OF CHRIST, RIGHT TO THE VERY DAY!!! THIS IS THE 24TH DAY OF CHESVAN, A VERY, VERY BIBLICAL DAY OF THE YEAR. I will expound on this day in a post in the near future (if the Lord takes us past 11/11/11).
This discovery, plus the verse above, plus all of the detailed time spans in the story of Noah and the Great Flood, demands that all serious watchers closely examine and compare the timeline of Noah's Flood, with the timeline of today, of late 2011 and early 2012. Why this year? Because this is the very last year before the Great Tribulation will begin on Apr. 11, 2012. We are currently living in the lead-in days to the Great Tribulation. If Noah's timeline is a parallel to the last days, then 2011--2012 has to be the time to compare and examine the timing of certain events in Noah's time, and in our time.
Let's go directly to the question posed in the title of this email. Does the timeline of Noah's Flood point directly to Apr. 11, 2012? In Gen. 7:11, we read, concerning the start date of the Great Flood, "In the six hundredth year of Noah's life, in the 2nd month, the 17th day of the month, the same day of the month, the same day were all the fountains of the great deep broken up, and the windows of heaven were opened."
We attempted to identify the equivilent day this year that would represent the 17th day of the 2nd month (in the Jewish civil year) in our last post. Suffice it to say it is either, 11/11/11 (which I strongly lean towards), or 11/14/11, or some day in between. Can we expect a Floodlike event on the 17th day of the 2nd month? Will it be a Sudden Destruction, and simultaneous Rapture, event like the Great Flood? In the same verse above, we read that "the windows of heaven were opened". Does this signify an opening of heaven to accomodate the Rapture of the Bride, on the same day as the Sudden Destruction?
Six verses later, we read in Gen. 7:17, "And the flood was FORTY DAYS upon the earth; and the waters increased, and bare up the ark, and it was lift up above the earth." Does this mean our Rapture day is FORTY DAYS later, when "the ark is lifted above the earth", typifying the Rapture of the Bride being lifted off the face of the earth? Forty days from 11/11/11 takes us to a VERY FASCINATING AND BIBLICAL DATE of Chesvan 24, Hanukkah Eve, Dec. 20--21, 2011. (But I am saving that for another post, lest we take our eyes off 11/11/11, which still COULD be the day of the Sudden Destruction/Rapture).
Assuming that something very significant does take place from 11/11/11 to 11/14/11, (besides the Rapture) that represents a Floodlike event, or, at the very least, a starting event for World War III, then we can look for the culmination of World War III (the Sudden Destruction and the Rapture) around Dec. 20--21, 2011. For example, if the scheduled plans to have a vote in the Security Council of the United Nations, does take place on 11/11/11, this has all the potential to ignite World War III, which could culminate 40 days later at the Battle of Gog and Magog (Ezekiel 38--39). In conclusion, if we are in the parallel days of Noah, there seems to be a high probability for the Rapture/Sudden Destruction to take place between 11/11/11 and 11/14/11, or 40 days later, around Dec. 20--21, 2011.
Both of these dates, the 17th day of the 2nd month, and the 24th day of Chesvan, are VERY BIBLICAL DAYS OF THE YEAR FOR THE POTENTIAL SUDDEN DESTRUCTION/RAPTURE. If we are still here after 11/14/11, I will be writing much more on the Biblical day of the 24th day of Chesvan, and its prophetic implications. I believe these are the only two Biblical dates, with Rapture/Sudden Destruction implications, that we have left before Apr. 11, 2012. This does not mean that the Rapture still could not happen on an unknown mystery day, with no Biblical ties.
Let's proceed to the very last verse of Gen. 7, verse 24, which says, "And the waters prevailed upon the earth AN HUNDRED AND FIFTY DAYS." Gen. 8:3 says, "and AFTER THE END OF THE HUNDRED AND FIFTY DAYS THE WATERS WERE ABATED." This was the day that the waters began to recede, or go down. The turmoil was finally over at THE END OF ONE HUNDRED AND FIFTY DAYS. A NEW WORLD ORDER WAS ABOUT TO BEGIN.
There is no denying that after the Great Flood was over, a New World Order began. This is another parallel with the days of Noah to where we are at today in early November of 2011. We stand on the very precipice of a brand New World Order. We await the Planned Sudden Destruction of the New World Order elite. The waters of the Great Flood played havoc with the earth after the starting date of the 17th day of the 2nd month. There was tremendous chaos, and judgment, and turmoil, on the face of the whole earth for ONE HUNDRED AND FIFTY DAYS.
Does this not suggest to us that ONE HUNDRED AND FIFTY DAYS AFTER THE POTENTIAL STARTING DATE OF THE 17TH DAY OF THE 2ND MONTH IN OUR DAYS, THE JUDGMENT OF WORLD WAR 3 WILL COME TO AN END. If we are living in Noah's timeline in late 2011 and early 2012, (and that remains to be seen), we would have every reason to believe that the havoc, chaos, turmoil, and judgment of nuclear (the Great Sword of the 2nd Seal Judgment) World War 3 and its aftermath, will last for ONE HUNDRED AND FIFTY DAYS.
For those of you who believe that Oct. 14, 2011, is the 17th day of the 2nd month, ONE HUNDRED AND FIFTY DAYS LATER TAKES US TO EXACTLY APRIL 11, 2012. This may prove that Oct. 14th is the correct starting date because the evidence, in my opinion, is conclusive that Apr. 11, 2012, will be the day that Obama recovers from his mortal head wound, and the starting date of his 1260-day reign as the Antichrist.
However, I honestly believe that this is our second option, not our best one. I sincerely believe that the 17th day of the 2nd month is probably 11/11/11, the very occultic day that the occultic and Satanic New World Order elite are pointing towards. I do not believe it is just a coincidence that the vote on a new Palestinian state is scheduled for 11/11/11. I also do not believe that is just a coincidence that 11/11/11 and the very Biblical date of 12/20--21/11 are EXACTLY FORTY DAYS apart. I believe that 11/11/11 has all the potential to be a forty-day warning. It could be the Rapture/Sudden Destruction Day, which warns the world of nuclear World War III forty days later. Or, it could be our forty-day warning (the sign of Jonah), before the Rapture/Sudden Destruction on the 24th of Kislev. It is my opinion that the 24th day of Kislev is the Biblical day of the year for nuclear World War III.
God has judged the world twice, and He is getting ready to judge the world a third time with the Sudden Destruction and the Great Tribulation. The first judgment was in the days of Noah, with the Great Flood. The 2nd judgment came when God judged all of mankind and found all of us guilty. The judgment and wrath of God was poured out on his beloved Son, Jesus Christ, when His Son bore the sins of the whole world on the cross.
This second judgment of the whole world on the cross happened on FEAST OF PASSOVER, with the death of our blessed Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. The 1st judgment concluded ONE HUNDRED AND FIFTY DAYS AFTER THE GREAT FLOOD STARTED, ON THE 17TH DAY OF THE 2ND MONTH. CAN IT BE JUST A COINCIDENCE THAT ONE HUNDRED AND FIFTY DAYS AFTER 11/11/11(THE 17TH DAY OF THE 2ND MONTH) TAKES US TO FEAST OF PASSOVER ONCE AGAIN (THE DAY OF THE 2ND JUDGMENT WITH THE DEATH OF JESUS), APR. 7--8TH OF 2012)?
The death and resurrection of Jesus took approximately 3 days. The faked death and faked resurrection of the Antichrist will also take the same amount of time, from Apr. 7th or Apr. 8th until Apr. 11, 2012. This is the ultimate attempt for the Anti-Christ, or false Christ, to imitate the real Christ. Not just to be killed and resurrected like Jesus, but to be killed and resurrected on the very same days of the year that Jesus died and was resurrected. The 2nd Judgment of Jesus on the cross for the sins of the world was on Feast of Passover. If we are about to head into Noah's timeline in our current days, then the evidence seems to show that God's next judgment of the world with nuclear World War 3, and the aftermath, has all the potential to culminate after 150 days on the very same day of the year, Feast of Passover, Apr. 7--8, 2012!
The judgment process was complete three days later upon the resurrection of Christ. I suppose one could say that once again, like in the days of Noah (at the culmination of 150 days) a New World Order began. The death and resurrection began a brand new dispensation, the dispensation of grace, which was in place 3 days after the death of Christ.
If Noah's timeline applies to us today, three days after the 150 days are over on Feast of Passover, Apr. 7--8, 2012, the New World Order will begin, the Great Tribulation will begin, and the 1260-day reign of the Antichrist will begin, on Apr. 11, 2012. What an amazing and complete parallel may be laid out for us!
What makes this potential timeline even more amazing is that from 11/11/11 to Apr. 11, 2012, is EXACTLY 153 DAYS. Because of the 153 fish caught by the disciples in the last chapter of John, this number has puzzed and fascinated Bible scholars for a long time. It has been thought to be a mystery number with end-time implications for a very long time. Could this 153-day gap, from 11/11/11, to Apr. 11, 2012, be the answer to the riddle of the Biblical number of 153? (I will write more about his mystery number of 153 in a near-future post, if there is time left before the Rapture).
So, if indeed the timeline of Noah's Flood applies to us today, in late 2011, and early 2012, then the answer, in my opinion, to the question in the title of this post, is an emphatic, and amazing "YES". The question, once again, is "DOES THE TIMELINE OF NOAH POINT DIRECTLY TO APR. 11, 2012?"
We may have to answer that question from Heaven, if the Rapture takes place from Nov. 11--14, 2011. If no Rapture, then we will have to see what transpires between Nov. 11--14th. Breathtaking times in which we live! Jesus said, "As in the days of Noah, so shall it also be in the days of the coming of the Son of man." We sure do not have long to wait to find if we are in the timeline of the Great Flood of Noah's time.

The Liberty Bell and America's Independence from God - plus - Bells Across America - DO NOT PARTICIPATE! Yom Kippur - DO PARTICIPATE!
[Updated 9/27/2010] I've personally received a number of very obvious signs lately, and these are related to this specific season and the arrival of judgment for the Lord's people, and also the bell. Yes, bells that ring. I'm interrupting the work of preparing two other urgent and important related writings because of what just came to my attention. Today, Friday September 17, 2010, is the 223nd anniversary of the signing of the US Constitution. It's final form was adopted by the Constitutional Convention in Philadelphia on Sept. 17, 1787, at Independence Hall. This will be celebrated across America with the ringing of bells. Web search "bells across america" The long version of what I've been working on is not ready for posting yet, but let me tell you - this is not a good thing! Don't participate. Ring no bell at this time! Some have scheduled the ringing for 4pm. I personally expect to be making intercessory prayer at that time. One of the signs came on Yom Teruah, this past Saturday morning. This was unplanned and unexpected, but I was led to go through my nearly full pocket change jar and roll the pennies. When I was done, I arranged them in pairs for easy counting at 2 rolls per dollar. I counted $11. That's 22 rolls! 22=11*2. I know what that signals. I've encountered it enough times to recognize it immediately. I had just been counting all the pennies and wrapping 50 per roll. When I was done wrapping, I knew I was done, with not one roll too many or too few, even though there were at least a few hundred more pennies left in the jar. When I counted $11 dollars in rolled pennies and saw the arrangement I had made with the 22 rolls it was obviously a sign. I didn't know the context of its interpretation until returning to blogging the next day. The post I had tried to write a few days earlier had to be rewritten. The Lord had something better in mind. The theme is going to match the post's number, number 22 in the Rochester, NY series. I had already noticed how the 21st post featured time-keeping. I had not planned it to correspond like this, but one of the meanings of 21 is "time." The theme matched the post's number! He has established a trend. As I reviewed what I'd written already, I reflected back on post 21 and what really needed to be the focus of the next one. It was the bells, by revelation insight. I'm going to include something later in this post of what I had written that could not yet be posted in that context. It's for this post! As I studied to learn more about bells, bell ringing and bell towers I began to understand about the sign of the 22 rolls of pennies and how the post #22 was to be a bell and bell tower post. Bells and pennies have a very similar brass composition. Bells for ringing are generally 80% copper and 20% tin. Pennies (USA), although changing through the years, were composed of 95% copper and 5% tin and zinc, from 1864 until 1943. Yesterday, Thursday, came another sign. I went to the barbershop for a haircut. I was going to go earlier than I did, but decided to wait so that lunch-time haircut folks wouldn't be inconvenienced. My schedule is flexible. When I did go, I usually walk the ten minutes it takes but decided instead to drive. Within a minute of my being there, the fellow in the barber's chair began to tell the barber he owned a foundry that made bells, and that he was a bell designer. Right. I've been intensely focused on bells for days and I walk in on that conversation. The odds? Absurd. It's another sign! He talked for a good half hour about the bells and his being on TV shows and interviewed for magazines and papers. I considered joining the conversation a few times but decided to keep quiet and just listen. A half-hour haircut? At least! When I got home I did some research to check up on the guy's story, his foundry, etc. He's legit. The number 22 (from the coin sign and the numbered post in the Rochester series) can be understood by expressing it as 11*2. "Eleven" signifies the flesh of man as grass and the flower of grass, frail and ephemeral - here today and gone tomorrow. "Two" signifies division. "Twenty-two" signifies the division, cutting or cutting off the flesh, as in the work of the cross in the life of the saint, resulting ultimately in the death of the flesh. As my dear brother Joseph Herrin observed, there's a reason why the 22" size is the most popular for grass-cutting machines. The sovereign Creator numbers His creation perfectly. This theme of 22 is a primary signification of the bell and bell tower, a symbolic and magickal element of Rochester, NY's Clock of Nations. It's also the theme of this season's judgment and the national bell ringing. Following New Zealand's Christchurch quake sign and, being in the midst of the celestial sign of Neptune, plus the penny rolls on Yom Teruah (Day of shouting and day of trumpets - trumpets are also typically made of brass, and have "bells" to project the sound), plus the encounter with the Bell man, (whose real claim to fame is the California Mission Bell project along El Camino Real) - on top of several other things, I have to tell you, I'm convinced we are in a critical season - right now. What I believe all this means is that, even beyond today's national bell ringing, the day of most critical importance is coming up in a couple days. The biblical account of bells focuses attention upon their use on Yom Kippur. On that day, the High Priest would go into the Most Holy Place and make atonement for Israel. 33) You shall make on its hem pomegranates of blue and purple and scarlet material, all around on its hem, and bells of gold between them all around:
34) a golden bell and a pomegranate, a golden bell and a pomegranate, all around on the hem of the robe.
35) It shall be on Aaron when he ministers; and its tinkling shall be heard when he enters and leaves the holy place before the LORD, so that he will not die.
36) You shall also make a plate of pure gold and shall engrave on it, like the engravings of a seal, 'Holy to the LORD.'
37) You shall fasten it on a blue cord, and it shall be on the turban; it shall be at the front of the turban.
38) It shall be on Aaron's forehead, and Aaron shall take away the iniquity of the holy things which the sons of Israel consecrate, with regard to all their holy gifts; and it shall always be on his forehead, that they may be accepted before the LORD.
Exodus 28:33-38As the Lord may lead, fasting and prayer, very serious personal repentence and intercession may be called for in these days of awe. Yom Kippur is, by Karaite reckoning, September 19-20, sundown to sundown, Jerusalem time. Seek the Lord personally about specifics as to timing for you, of course. For those of you who work or have other obligations, some advance planning may be called for to free up your time and your families time from distractions. I'm convinced this is that urgent and that important. What I had written for the intended post 22 follows. It's about what today's "Bells Acroll America" celebrates, about Independence Hall, where the event took place. This is what the Liberty Bell in Independence Hall was about! Observe how the Liberty Bell points us towards Yom Kippur, the holy day on which the Yobel or Jubilee is proclaimed! Note the sign of it's cracking, and that it exists today in such a state.
The Liberty Bell and America's Independence from GodWhat we call the Liberty Bell was commissioned from the London firm of Lester and Pack in 1752. It was brought to Philadelphia and hung in the steeple of the Pennsylvania State House, aka Independence Hall. It first cracked when first rung in Philadelphia. An inscription on the bell excerpts Leviticus 25:10: " Proclaim LIBERTY throughout all the land unto all the inhabitants thereof." When the bell cracked, that was a sign! Here's more of the context of the bell's inscription. 8) And thou shalt number seven sabbaths of years unto thee, seven times seven years; and the space of the seven sabbaths of years shall be unto thee forty and nine years.
9) Then shalt thou cause the trumpet of the jubile to sound on the tenth day of the seventh month, in the day of atonement shall ye make the trumpet sound throughout all your land.
10) And ye shall hallow the fiftieth year, and proclaim liberty throughout all the land unto all the inhabitants thereof: it shall be a jubile unto you; and ye shall return every man unto his possession, and ye shall return every man unto his family.The passage of scripture declares the institution of the Yobel, the Jubilee, and the accounting of the appointed times. The Yobel was to be observed faithfully until such time as when it would find its ultimate fulfillment. Was honoring the Creator's times and purposes in the minds and hearts of those who commissioned the inscription on the bell? It must be seen that they rather mocked Him and His ordinances. God is not mocked, for long. When first rung in Philadelphia, the city of brotherly love, the bell cracked. It was a sign. Hijacking His appointed times and purposes will not stand, for long. The "liberty" sought is independence from the Creator, his authority and all institutions of purpose and time. Independence Hall with its clock and associated Liberty Bell are icons of proud Philadelphia and America itself. The well hidden secret testimony is about America's independence from the Creator. This is exactly counter to what you will hear in nearly every bell tower institution where the presumed god of our proud country's founders is named. The Liberty Bell is an Isis bell, the fertile womb of Mystery Babylon. It's a symbol of the "liberty" that is independence from God. The Liberty Bell and the clock on the bell tower of Independence Hall signal America's fertile founding as a rebel's paradise.  Featured on the back of the Federal Reserve's one hundred dollar note is the clock tower of Independence Hall in Philadelphia, PA. The Federal Reserve imprints their notes and coins with occult symbolism.  The great seal on the back of the one dollar note is famously adorned with occult symbolism. I've recently blogged about how coins have numeric features that make them particularly special when tossed into fountains. That Freemasonry and Luciferian illuminism is behind the imagery is well documented. The Independence Hall clock tower on the one hundred dollar note must be important. It was featured in the movie franchise "National Treasure" as a major plot device. The time displayed on the clock was a clue that had to be deciphered, concealed and revealed through the symbols of America and Freemasonry. When I consider the Independence Hall clock I perceive a clue that leads me to another kind of treasure! The clock on Independence Hall is a parable. Clocks serve to disassociate people from the natural ways that honor the Creator. Individuals and communities governed by clocks are disassociated, disconnected in their relationship with the Creator, thus operating independent of Him. The clock ... on Independence Hall - get it? The treasure here is insight into the truth behind what is meant by independence! When most people see the word in that context, what comes to mind is obviously, "independence from Britain." Independence Hall in Philadelphia is the very place where the Declaration of Independence was signed in 1776. That document begins, " When in the Course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another..." There can be no doubt that independence meant the establishment of a nation independent of the British Empire. Beyond that lies a greater truth, one to which the clock bears witness; one that is difficult for some to accept. The clock testifies of a community of men who have rebelled against the rule of the Creator by replacing His provision for the governance of their activity with another. This, my friend, is precisely what Independence Hall stands for. 1) Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God.
2) Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation.
3) For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power? do that which is good, and thou shalt have praise of the same:
4) For he is the minister of God to thee for good. But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain: for he is the minister of God, a revenger to execute wrath upon him that doeth evil.
5) Wherefore ye must needs be subject, not only for wrath, but also for conscience sake.
6) For for this cause pay ye tribute also: for they are God's ministers, attending continually upon this very thing.
7) Render therefore to all their dues: tribute to whom tribute is due; custom to whom custom; fear to whom fear; honour to whom honour.
Romans 13:1-7There is no provision in Romans 13 for saints to declare independence from the British Empire. King George III was the higher power, ordained of God. If you read the Declaration of Independence with humility, the inescapable conclusion is that rebellion against the rule of King George III was rebellion against the sovereign God's appointed regent, and therefore against God's authority and God Himself! The Declaration of Independence presumes through proud and lofty language to have a mandate for such action as was subsequently taken to secure such independence. " ... it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security." There was no such mandate, biblically, but only in the minds of lawless and rebellious men, most of them Freemasons, deceived and deceivers. According to Albert G. Mackey, on page 374 of the "Encyclopedia of Freemasonry, Part 1," you may read about the cornerstone for the State House (Later known as Independence Hall) being laid by Benjamin Franklin during his administration as Grand Master, with the Brethren of Philadelphia's St. John's Lodge, Libre B. I must emphasize the need to honestly read the witness of the clock on Independence Hall so we're not deceived. America runs on Babylon time, which is GMT. How is that independent from the British Empire? Understand about the Liberty Bell. These icons of America declare its independence from our Creator while declaring its idolatrous dependence upon the gods of Babylon. Consider this statement from usgovinfo.about.com. "No matter how much we argue about the details of its meaning today, in the opinion of many, the Constitution signed in Philadelphia on September 17, 1787 represents the greatest expression of statesmanship and compromise ever written. In just four hand-written pages, the Constitution gives us no less than the owners' manual to the greatest form of government the world has ever known." Constitution Day To that I say shame on us if we buy into that bold and wickedly foolish rejection of the Creator's authority and governance. Have you read Is Your God American? and been convicted by it? Those whose god is American are idolators. The time has come to repent of this and all idolatry. The time has come. El río Magdalena es la principal arteria fluvial de Colombia. Tiene una longitud de más de 1500 km, es navegable desde Honda hasta su desembocadura en el mar Caribe,[1] y su principal afluente es el río Cauca. Su cuenca ocupa el 24 % del territorio continental del país, en ella están 18 departamentos de Colombia (de diez de los cuales hace parte de los límites), vive el 80 % de la población y se produce el 85 % del PIB nacional.[2] Es considerado el río más importante de Colombia, pese a no ser el más largo ni el más caudaloso, en lo cual lo superan el Putumayo y el Caquetá respectivamente.
En su parte baja (norte) los indígenas lo llamaban Yuma (cuyo significado es ‘río amigo’).[3]
En su parte media lo llamaban Arli, y en su parte alta, Guacacayo o Huacayo.[4]
Los indios del sur del río Magdalena lo llamaban Huacacayo, según aparece en una escritura del 2 de septiembre de 1555 citada por Vicente Restrepo en su Estudio sobre las minas de oro y plata de Colombia.
También lo llamaban Caracolí.[5]
El 1 de abril de 1501, el conquistador español Rodrigo de Bastidas y sus hombres desembarcaron con sus naves en la desembocadura del río, Bocas de Ceniza. Como era costumbre en aquel tiempo, lo rebautizó en honor a un santo cristiano; en esa ocasión, María Magdalena: lo llamó Río Grande de la Magdalena.
El Magdalena es un río nacional que nace al suroeste de Colombia, en la cordillera de los Andes, específicamente en el eje central del macizo colombiano. Atraviesa el país por su occidente de sur a norte, discurriendo a lo largo de unos 1.540 km entre las cordilleras Oriental y Central de los Andes colombianos, conformando un valle que a su vez es un corredor vial y que llega al litoral del mar Caribe.
El Magdalena nace en la laguna de la Magdalena en el Páramo de las Papas, al sur del Parque Nacional Natural Puracé en el límite entre los departamentos del Cauca y el Huila.
Navegable unos 990 km, entre Honda (Tolima) pasando por Magangué y culminando en Barranquilla, el río es la principal ruta fluvial de Colombia. Río arriba, luego de los rápidos de Honda, es navegable otros 240 km, aproximadamente hasta el municipio de Girardot lo que es conocido como el valle del Magdalena Medio.
En su desembocadura en el mar Caribe, conocida como Bocas de Ceniza a 7,5 km de Barranquilla se construyó una de las más grandes obras de ingeniería del país. La desembocadura fue modificada y extendida hacia el mar por medio tajamares que permiten mantener un calado necesario para el ingreso de buques de gran tamaño. Esto debido a que el río deposita 500.000 m³ de sedimento por trimestre.
El río posee una cuenca de unos 250.000 km², la cual en su parte media (Magdalena Medio), es la gran reserva de hidrocarburos del país.
El afluente principal del Río Magdalena es el río Cauca, pero tiene innumerables afluentes a lo largo y ancho de su recorrido que aportan un buen caudal de aguas.
El río Magdalena, gracias a su posición geográfica que corta las poderosas ramas andinas del norte de Sudamérica, fue desde tiempos precolombinos ruta de incursión hacia el interior de lo que hoy es Colombia y seguramente hacia el sur de la misma como Ecuador. Las culturas caribes, por ejemplo, penetraron muy probablemente por el río, así como otras culturas influyentes venidas del norte y Mesoamérica.
De la misma manera, los conquistadores españoles que llegaron a lo que hoy es Colombia a principios del siglo XVI usaron el río para adentrarse al interior de un país agreste y de un relieve difícil. El descubrimiento por parte de los colonizadores se le atribuye a Rodrigo de Bastidas en el año 1501.
En tiempo de la Colonia española el río no fue menos importante. Este fue la única vía por la que la capital colonial, Santa Fe de Bogotá, se comunicaba con el importante puerto de Cartagena de Indias y por ende con Europa.
Las luchas de independencia no descuidaron el río. Los ejércitos patriotas y reales navegaron por el río en la búsqueda del dominio absoluto y político de la Colonia que rompía sus yugos. En la obra El general en su laberinto del escritor colombiano Gabriel García Márquez se puede ver una excelente descripción de lo que significaba el río para el tiempo y sus gentes.
El advenimiento de los ferrocarriles, la construcción de carreteras que dominaron el difícil relieve andino y la aviación, hicieron que el río perdiera su dominio absoluto sobre el discurrir nacional en cuestiones de transporte e intercambio. Pero la época moderna no pudo hacer perder la importancia que tiene el río más grande de la geografía nacional.
Los comienzos del desarrollo industrial en Colombia a principios del s. XX afectaron lógicamente el ambiente con problemas como la contaminación y la deforestación. De ello el río Magdalena es un termómetro preciso y sensible.
Las épocas de intensa lluvia en Colombia han traído como consecuencias el desbordamiento del río que reclama el espacio perdido y hace pagar los precios de deforestaciones sin medida. Aún no existen en Colombia proyectos de magnitud que velen radicalmente por la protección del medio ambiente y la preservación de los recursos naturales. La riqueza en fauna y flora a lo largo de un río que recorre regiones tan diversas y equidistantes, es amplia e interesante, pero la contaminación y la deforestación ha hecho perder muchas especies asociadas al río.
