La Vía Lactea hacia Santiago de Compostela.

Las personas que hacen el camino de Santiago suelen dirigirse desde el Este hacia el Oeste, y el momento del año en el que una persona puede ver la Vía Láctea en vertical sobre el horizonte (señalando a Santiago de Compostela) es a las 10 de la noche a principios de Diciembre. La constelación más perceptible en la franja "lechosa" (Láctea) es la del Cisne, que también se llama la Cruz del Norte. (En la image, la O naranja significa "Oeste")..

Se le llama "del Norte" no porque esté al norte o la veamos hacia el norte (pues en esa latitud y hora se ve hacia el oeste) sino porque está en el hemisferio Norte de la esfera Celeste y por eso sólo es visible desde el hemisferio norte del planeta Tierra. 
 
También se le llama "del Norte" para distinguirla de la Cruz del Sur (muy parecida a la típica cruz cristiana) que no vemos desde el hemisferio norte pero que hace 2000 años sí se veía desde Jerusalén a las 11 de la noche mirando hacia el sur, que es justo la dirección hacia la que está Belén respecto a Jerusalén. La Cruz del Sur pudo ser la famosa "estrella de Belén", y Belén es otro lugar de peregrinación.

Estando en Galicia o caminando hacia Santiago de Compostela, la franja de la Vía Láctea aparece justo encima de las coronillas (en nuestro cénit) hacia la 1 de la tarde desde 20 de enero al 20 de febrero, y también desde el 25 de junio hasta el 25 de julio. Dado que ocurre a la 1 de la tarde, la luz del Sol vela nuestra visión y no podemos ver la Vía Láctea, pero podemos saber que estando en GALICIA a esa hora y día estamos justo debajo de la Vía Láctea.
 
La constelación del Cisne, también llamada Cruz del Norte, es una de las que está en plena franja de la Vía Láctea, y aparece sobre nuestras coronillas hacia las 13 horas entre el 20 enero y 20 de febrero. Una cruz como corona.
 
Y en la siguiente imagen, el punto en el que confluyen los meridianos representa el punto del Firmamento al que señala una línea que parte del Centro de la Tierra PASANDO POR GALICIA a las 13 horas entre el 20 de enero y 20 de febrero. En ese punto está el centro de la constelación del Cisne, la Cruz del Norte. 
 
Es una adecuada Firma del Firmamento (el Camino de las Estrellas) para quien llegue a Santiago de Compostela a la 1 de la tarde entre el 20 de enero y el 20 de febrero.
