Se llama Cirio Pascual a la vela que se consagra y enciende en la Vigilia Pascual en la liturgia católica de la noche del Sábado Santo; y es signo de Cristo resucitado, y su luz.
El cirio es renovado precisamente en esta ceremonia, sustituyéndose el del año anterior. Su tamaño puede variar, aunque ha de ser mayor que el de resto de velas del templo. Suele tener pintada una cruz en uno de sus lados.

I AM currently (10/2/11 08:30) watching History Channel's Brad Meltzer's Decoded - "Statue of Liberty". They have exposed that "everybody involved in the statue was a Freemason". That's nothing new. They have shown that "the measurements involved in the statue and pedestal are divisible by 7 through numerology". Ok.
Everyone knows the global significance of the #7, yet few realize that it was based on "As above, so below", which is the main premise of the ancient practice of sacred geometry. The ancients easily recognized that there were 7 moving objects(74) in the heavens(74): Sun, Moon, & five "wandering stars" (planets). These can, of course, still be seen with the naked eye. 4 of these do not cast shadows(74) on Earth (Venus does). The ancients also recognized that the lunar month is 29 1/2 days and this is rounded off to 4 phases of the moon each being 7 days (one week), or to be more precise, 4 phases of ~7.4 days each. The lunar year + 7 day week + 4 days = 365 day solar year.

July 4, 1776 was certainly not the only example of Benjamin Franklin (and other Freemasons) using the GOD=7_4 Code nor was it the first. The birth of the United States of America on July 4 or 7/4 was certainly the BIGGEST example of this code since God Himself used it on Jesus'(74) actual birthday of 17/4/748 Roman Calendar (April 17, 6 BC) and the day Y'shua(74) was on the Cross(74) of 7/4/783 AUC (April 7, 30 AD). But I've discovered that when Franklin arrived in London in July 1757 with his son William, he chose to lodge at 7 Craven Street: a 4-story row-house. For Ben Franklin scholars, this is recognized as the home of the widow Margaret `Peggy' Stevenson and her daughter Mary known as Polly. Franklin would live with the Stevensons for the entire 16 years of his two successive stays in London. At age 51*, Franklin had been appointed to represent the colony of Pennsylvania and confront Thomas Penn and his brother Richard with a list of complaints from the Pennsylvania Assembly. Also, using the most elementary letter-number substitution or Simple English Gematria of A=1...Z=26, London=74, as does simple=74, English=74, and gematria=74. Los Juegos Píticos igualaban en importancia a los Olímpicos, y se celebraban también cada cuatro años, sin coincidir. El premio para los ganadores era la conora de laurel en lugar de la de olivo. El primer ganador de los certámenes musicales fue Crisotemis, el hombre que purificó a Apolo después de que este diera muerte a la serpiente Pitón. Otro ganador del que tenemos noticia fue Tamiris, amante de Jacinto, primer hombre que tuvo relaciones homosexuales y que permanece en el Tártaro por haber intentado competir con las Musas, quienes además le privaron de la vista.
El oráculo
Estaba situado en una cueva profunda con una estrecha entrada. En ella se situaba un gran trípode, en el que se sentaba la Pitia para recibir la inspiración divina que le dictaba las respuestas oraculares. El oráculo de Delfos fue el más famoso de la antigüedad. Su situación como centro del mundo, señalaba el ónfalos, le confirió un prestigio especial, de manera que muchos tesoros y botines de guerra fueron guardados allí, en pequeñas edificaciones.
El poder oracular de la gruta fue descubierto causalmente gracias a las cabras que abundaban en la zona, por lo que para los sacrifios a Apolo en Delfos se suelen utilizar estos animales. Es tradición que estas cabras quedaron atrapadas en la gruta por un terremoto y comenzaron a balar de una forma realmente extraña. Un pastor, que acudió a averiguar la razón de ese extraño fenómeno, que quedó igual de poseído que las cabras, y comenzó a precedir sucesos futuros. Todo el que se aproximaba a la gruta obtenía este extraño poder, y fue fama que procedía de Gea.
Pero la fuerza de atracción que la gruta ejercía sobre todo aquel que se aproximaba era tal que muchos terminaban precipitándose por la grieta que el terremoto había dejado en la tierra, por lo que se designó una Pitonisa para emitir las profecías. En principio la Pitonisa era una mujer joven y virgen, pero se dieron varios casos de violación y finalmente eran mujeres mayores y poco atractivas las encargadas de emitir los oráculos.
Los consultantes tenían una entrevista con ella unos días antes del oráculo. Este hecho está perfectamete documentado en las noticias que dan los autores de la Antigüedad. El oráculo se celebraba un día al mes, el día siete, que se consideraba como fecha de nacimiento de Apolo. Los consultantes eran de todo tipo, de grandes reyes hasta gentes pobres.
La Pitia daba respuestas (el verdadero oráculo) que un sacerdote recogía y escribía en forma de verso. Después se le entregaba al consultante. En un primer momento, las sentencias de la Pitonisa se hacían en verso, pero a mucha gente le parecía extraño que siendo Apolo el dios de la música, tuvieran las predicciones tan mala calidad rítimica y melódica. Así que pronto la Pitonisa comenzó a predecir en prosa.
Las Excavaciones
En 1676 Jacques Spon (francés) y Geroge Wheler (inglés) llegaron al emplazamiento del santuario convertido en un poblado llamado en ese momento Castri. En su visita por el lugar se fijaron en muchas inscripciones en la iglesia de un monasterio que había sido construida justamente sobre los muros del antiguo gimnasio. En estas inscripciones leyeron la palabra Delphi. Lo mismo les ocurrió en algunas casas del poblado. En estos años no pasó de ser una noticia para los historiadores; no hubo excavaciones.
Pasados dos siglos, en 1840, un arqueólogo alemán llamado Karl Otfried Müller trabajó en esta zona y descubrió entre las casas del poblado una parte del gran muro poligonal del recinto del santuario.
El descubrimiento fue una llamada a seguir trabajando. Llegaron más arqueólogos franceses y alemanes, que fueron poco a poco descubriendo indicios y vestigios de la joya arqueológica que se escondía en aquel lugar. Pero la tarea era muy difícil, pues la presencia del poblado impedía hacer excavaciones en serio.
Empezaron entonces los tratos y los proyectos para trasladar a otro sitio todo el poblamiento de Castri, hasta que en 1881 hubo un acuerdo entre el gobierno griego y el gobierno francés (muy interesado en las excavaciones) para expropiar, trasladar y reconstruir el nuevo emplazamiento, la ciudad actual llamada Dhifis (Delfos). Comenzó una gran actividad arqueológica dirigida por el jefe de la Escuela Francesa de Arqueología de Atenas, Téophile Homolle.
Fueron apareciendo piezas restos de estatuas criselefantinas (es decir, estatuas que tenían la cara, las manos y los pies de marfil y el cabello de oro), piedras de edificios, columnas rotas, etc. Después vinieron las restauraciones llevadas a cabo por la Escuela Francesa de Arqueología, con las subvenciones del Ayuntamiento de Atenas y aportaciones particulares de ciudadanos griegos.
De esta forma vieron la restauración:
El Tesoro de los Atenienses que fue reconstruido pieza a pieza.
El Templo de Apolo, del que apenas se conserva algunas columnas.
El Estadio, que es el mejor conservado de la Antigüedad.
El Tholos o santuario de Atenea.
La fuente Castalia.
El ágora romana.
El altar de Quíos.
Varias columnas.
Muchas de las piezas fueron llevadas al museo de Delfos que, en la actualidad, es uno de los más ricos de Grecia: entre otras el famoso Auriga, de bronce, tamaño natural ofrendado por Polyzelos; la Esfinge de Naxos, los Mellizos de Argos y una copia romana del Ónfalos que era la piedra en forma de huevo que señalaba el centro u "ombligo del mundo" en Delfos y que fue encontrado durante las excavaciones hechas en el templo de Apolo.
