
People in Colombia massively took to the streets Sunday to demand peace and the liberation of all hostages currently held by leftist rebel groups in their country.
People in white t-shirts join a national demonstration in all Colombian cities. There are no reliable figures yet, but it seems the protests that started at 10 AM already are already attended by hundreds of thousands, if not millions of people.
Colombia is celebrating its Independence Day today with a nationally organized Great National Concert in almost all municipalities. The protests were initiated after former hostage Ingrid Betancourt called for Colombia to demand the liberation of hostages held by the country’s leftist rebel groups at the same day.
