Good afternoon to all...

Today I will be writing on something we all need in order to live a life pleasing to God.

The cure for evil desires is humility. In Proverbs 16:16-20 NLT it states the following...

^16 "How much better to get wisdom than gold,
and good judgment than silver!

¹⁷The path of the virtuous leads away from evil;
whoever follows that path is safe.

¹⁸Pride goes before destruction,
and haughtiness before a fall.

¹⁹Better to live humbly with the poor
than to share plunder with the proud.

20 Those who listen to instruction will prosper;
    those who trust the Lord will be joyful."  

and it also states in

in 1Peter 5:5-7 the following:
5 "In the same way, you who are younger must accept the authority of the elders. And all of you, dress yourselves in humility as you relate to one another, for
“God opposes the proud
    but gives grace to the humble.”
6 So humble yourselves under the mighty power of God, and at the right time he will lift you up in honor. 7 Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you."

Pride makes us self-centered and leads us to conclude that we deserve all we can see, touch, etc.  It creates greedy appetites and that is bad.  However, we can be released from our self-centered desires by humbling ourselves before God and realizing that all we really need is the approval of God our Father.  When we are baptized, we receive the Holy Spirit. And when we are guided by the Holy Spirit, we can see that this world's seductive attractions are only  cheap substitutes for what God our Father has to offer. After seeing what we were desiring, we realize that we were blinded by our evil desires.
