Good afternoon to all my Brothers and Sisters in Christ.

Today I will be speaking of the Wisdom of God.  Many believe that if they are very intelligent, they don't need God.  They are talking about human wisdom.  There is a big difference between human wisdom and God's wisdom.  The Book of Proverbs of Solomon offers us wisdom and discipline.  God gave King Solomon wisdom to teach people how to behave.

Proverbs 1:1-7 NLT states the following...

The Purpose of Proverbs

1 "These are the proverbs of Solomon, David’s son, king of Israel.

Their purpose is to teach people wisdom and discipline,
to help them understand the insights of the wise.
Their purpose is to teach people to live disciplined and successful lives,
to help them do what is right, just, and fair.
These proverbs will give insight to the simple,
knowledge and discernment to the young.

Let the wise listen to these proverbs and become even wiser.
Let those with understanding receive guidance
by exploring the meaning in these proverbs and parables,
the words of the wise and their riddles.

Fear of the Lord is the foundation of true knowledge,
but fools despise wisdom and discipline."

The only way we can obtain wisdom is through diligent search and obedience to God.  And I am not talking about human intelligence that some people are so proud to have.  That intelligent counts for nothing to our Heavenly Father.  God's Word is an unending source of wisdom for those who study the Bible.  When we study the Bible and learn the importance of the great sacrifice of our Lord Jesus Christ, who died to give us salvation, we are so grateful.  One beautiful scripture is...

1Corinthians 1:18-31 NLT states the following...

The Wisdom of God

18 The message of the cross is foolish to those who are headed for destruction! But we who are being saved know it is the very power of God. 19 As the Scriptures say,

“I will destroy the wisdom of the wise
and discard the intelligence of the intelligent.”

20 So where does this leave the philosophers, the scholars, and the world’s brilliant debaters? God has made the wisdom of this world look foolish. 21 Since God in his wisdom saw to it that the world would never know him through human wisdom, he has used our foolish preaching to save those who believe. 22 It is foolish to the Jews, who ask for signs from heaven. And it is foolish to the Greeks, who seek human wisdom. 23 So when we preach that Christ was crucified, the Jews are offended and the Gentiles say it’s all nonsense.

24 But to those called by God to salvation, both Jews and Gentiles, Christ is the power of God and the wisdom of God. 25 This foolish plan of God is wiser than the wisest of human plans, and God’s weakness is stronger than the greatest of human strength.

26 Remember, dear brothers and sisters, that few of you were wise in the world’s eyes or powerful or wealthy when God called you. 27 Instead, God chose things the world considers foolish in order to shame those who think they are wise. And he chose things that are powerless to shame those who are powerful. 28 God chose things despised by the world, things counted as nothing at all, and used them to bring to nothing what the world considers important. 29 As a result, no one can ever boast in the presence of God.

30 God has united you with Christ Jesus. For our benefit God made him to be wisdom itself. Christ made us right with God; he made us pure and holy, and he freed us from sin. 31 Therefore, as the Scriptures say, “If you want to boast, boast only about the Lord.”

When we understand God's wisdom, we will be able to build our lives on firm foundation.

Matthew 7:24-27 NLT states the following...

Building on a Solid Foundation

24 “Anyone who listens to my teaching and follows it is wise, like a person who builds a house on solid rock. 25 Though the rain comes in torrents and the floodwaters rise and the winds beat against that house, it won’t collapse because it is built on bedrock. 26 But anyone who hears my teaching and doesn’t obey it is foolish, like a person who builds a house on sand. 27 When the rains and floods come and the winds beat against that house, it will collapse with a mighty crash.”

So now we understand that our obedience to worldly wisdom counts for nothing, if we want to have eternal life with our Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ our Savior and our Christian brothers and sisters.  Thank you Father for your unending love for us.

May God keep blessing you is my desire...

Hortencia
