Salvarse por los pelos

Antiguamente muchos marineros no sabían nadar. Era costumbre que se dejaran el pelo largo para que si caían a la mar los agarraran "por los pelos" para salvarlos. De aquí vienen el orígen de esta tan conocida expresión
