Normally I wouldn't start a thread like this, but it struck me as something that a lot of NR'ers might find interesting. So here we are!
For starters, last night I discovered that the town that I grew up in Connecticut for 9 years is located at the same latitude as Tom's hometown in Iowa...and then Mt. Shasta, and also Cheyenne Mountain (NORAD...) of all places. It's latitude 41 degrees, plus/minus a few sub degrees north and south. But it's all at 41 degrees north, which struck me as being pretty interesting. I mean, what are the odds that two of the towns we've lived in would be located on the same exact latitude...and then match up to Mt. Shasta and Cheyenne Mountain? What it means, I don't know, but it's interesting! 
I then was musing about latitude 33, (esoteric/freemasonic number) because I remembered that Columbia South Carolina was located there. I think I learned that via Goro Adachi's work a few years ago, and it was cited as being a "marker" of sorts. So for fun I pulled out my atlas of the world and looked up what is located at latitude 33:
Atlanta, Georgia - Illuminati sister city to Denver;
Phoenix, Arizona - Phoenix, more masonic/Illuminati nonsense;
Roswell, New Mexico - Self explanatory. 
Orange County, CA - Lived there for 10 years; in fact there's a cafe in downtown Laguna Beach called "Latitude 33";
Columbus Mississippi;
Columbia South Carolina;
And on a minor note, stuff like Birmingham, Alabama and the Salton Sea in California, (at 33.3 exactly). I was really surprised that Edwards Air Force Base in the CA desert didn't match up, but alas, that was at 34 degrees.
Anyway, struck me as being small, yet interesting enough to mention. Give some "food for thought" about the fact that the set up of this reality isn't by random chance as something might have you believe. Whether it's hyperdimensional, or by conscious physical design, I don't know. Related to all this is this thread:

...which covers the mathematical message/design of the moon, and also briefly gets into Goro's "time rivers" theory, regarding the mathematical message/design of the Nile, Mississippi and Amazon rivers. Speaking of Goro's "Time Rivers" theory, I have his book open in front of me and found the page where he correlates the Mississippi to key features of the Nile. In lining both rivers up side by side he discovered some interesting things. It would help to have the diagram that shows both rivers side by side, but you can still get the idea without it. Here's an excerpt from page 197-198, (bolded words my own emphasis):
Goro in "The Time Rivers" wrote:
"The Mississippi River's relevance to the Time River scheme can be demonstrated more dramatically by having it shown side by side with the Nile. This is done by aligning the Mississippi's beginning point (or more accurately the northernmost point) laterally with Giza/30 degree N.
What emerges from this arrangement is startling:
A. The most significant point on the Mississippi River is at latitude 37 degree N., where the river is joined by its principal tributary, the Ohio River. It divides the Mississippi into the 'upper Mississippi' and the 'lower Mississippi' and the town situated there is suggestively named 'Cairo'. Indeed, as Figure 12.3 reveals, 37 degrees N. happens to precisely correspond to the Great Bend's peak at 19.5 degrees!
B. About 220 km downstream from 'Cairo' we find Memphis, the largest city of Tennessee named after - yet again - an Egyptian city. (Memphis was the first capital of Egypt.) And this time the association is dramatically followed up by Memphis' latitude (35.14 degrees) corresponding to the Nile's 17.64 degree N - almost the exact latitude of the Atbara confluence (17.67 degrees N.)...
C. About 180 km further downstream the Mississippi is joined by the Arkansas River, and about 90 km further south it is joined by the southern border of Arkansas. The esoteric significance of the latter is initially intimated by its latitude, 33 degrees N. - "33" being a key Time-River, as well as Masonic, number. It is also hard to miss the 'Ark' in the name 'Ark-ansas' (its official abbreviation is 'Ark.') This is reinforced by the name of ht estate capital - 'Little Rock' - evoking the closely related 'heavenly stone' theme. Sure enough, we find that the latitude 33 degrees N. corresponds to the Nile's 15.5 degrees N., which is almost exactly Khartoum's latitude (15.6 degrees N.) where the 'Ark river' (Blue Nile) joins the main Nile!......
Interesting stuff. It definitely seems that latitude/longitude are a key component to revealing the "higher design" of things. I recommend Goro's Time Rivers book if you haven't already read it. http://www.goroadachi.com/timerivers/ It's not perfect, (no book is!) but it's worth a read. He noticed things that mainstream society and science don't want to see or acknowledge.
Oh yeah....just realized......the Salton Sea connection is pretty interesting, as it's this HUGE inland salt water lake of sorts that was accidentally formed through a mishap when damming up the Colorado River. But it would also match up to the Nile River stuff on the other side of the world.
Oh, and another thing....while compiling this post I experienced a pronounced ear muting. No ringing/tones accompanied it, just the low key muting. So, that says something I suppose. Something perked up when I began typing this.

Columbia is both the US and the dove (Columba) - the latter symbolizing peace - so the bird in the scene would easily signify 'American peace'. And this just happens to directly relate to the imperial dream of the 'neo-conservatives' in/around the Bush administration. (The neo-conservatives, closely affiliated with the PNAC think tank, include Vice Pres. Cheney, defense secretary Rumsfeld, his deputy Wolfowitz, and others like Perle, Bolton, Libby, Feith etc.) Calling it 'Pax Americana' (meaning American peace), it had been the dream of the neo-conservative hawks to create a global empire ruled by the US.
And they had been at it for a long time. The Pax Americana vision was already in existence by the time of the first Bush administration (41) in the early '90s. The 'neo-cons' tried to sell their radical idea to Bush Sr. but it was quickly rejected. They even tried to get Clinton's attention, unsuccessfully of course. It was not until George W. Bush's administration and 9/11 that the neo-cons were finally able to convince the White House and move ahead with the 'Pax Americana' plan.
So yes, those American-peace 'birds' - (false) doves - had been tapping on the White House window for a long time indeed.
As for the craziness ('dementia') reference, it fits right into this interpretation in that those neo-conservatives were indeed viewed as 'crazies' and not taken seriously (until George W. Bush came along).
And it is not a secret today that the neo-con Pax Americana agenda was actually the driving force behind the Iraq war - which began in the month of Mars (i.e. March) just several weeks after the disaster of Columbia (= dove/'American peace').
Now, let me also point out that the grid pattern in the scene made by the window/blind in front of the dove reinforces the relevance of Noah's dove (Columba). In Greek mythology, its version of Noah's ark, (the ark of Deukalion) comes to rest at Dodona or Delphi. We can infer that this landing site corresponds to Ararat where Noah's ark descended. And this is acknowledged geodetically - since both Dodona and Ararat sit on the same latitude, 39.5°N. (It's interesting to note that Dodona is also evoked by the name 'Donna', the lady in the above picture standing in front of the window.)
At any rate, the notion of a 'grid' becomes significant when we realize that Delphi (the other claimed landing site of Deukalion's ark) was thought to be the 'navel of the world' (geodetic center) marked by the 'navel stone', or omphalos. Traditional depictions of the omphalos show two doves (or eagles) perched upon the stone, and they are said to represent 'a net of meridians and parallels', i.e. the grid of the earth.
Further, the omphalos stone is often equated with the Egyptian 'Benben stone', traditionally the capstone placed at the apex of the pyramid or obelisk. Like the omphalos, the Benben stone is often thought to have come from heaven - i.e. a meteorite. Also being a form of 'seed', those 'foundation stones' may be easily related to Mars, since we already have strong evidence of ancient Martian rocks coming here with microbes, or 'seeds of life', carried inside... And this is of course a major theme of the West Wing episode.
In terms of Masonic symbology, the Benben stone (capstone) would definitely turn into the embodiment of the 'All-Seeing Eye' (as seen on the back of the US $1.00 bill).
 
In ancient Egyptian terminology this would be the 'Eye of Horus'. Since Mars was also viewed as a form of Horus ('Horus the Red'), we have here a confirmation of the foregoing 'rock from Mars' theory.
To get back to the political context, these days the 'All-Seeing Eye' is often viewed as a symbol of the 'New World Order' - a super-elite group allegedly scheming to control the whole planet. Of course, the 'Eye' of the pyramid isn't inherently an 'evil' symbol. For instance, in the Bible it is Jesus to whom the cornerstone or capstone ('that the builders rejected') is compared. So it is probably more accurate to say that the 'capstone Eye' is symbolic of a cosmic opportunity capable of producing either or both 'Christ' and 'Antichrist', so to speak.
The neo-conservative 'Pax Americana' is clearly a form of the New World Order - especially since the Bush family traditionally has a big role in NWO conspiracy theories.
So We've come full circle. We've come back to neo-conservatives. It's now quite evident that, through 'contextual transposition', Sorkin was primarily talking about the current US administration and its war.

Tratando de racionalizar el calendario de Noe, en funcion a Sirio, considerando que el 3 de Febrero es el dia numero 34 (dia posterior al numero 33) es increible que el 15 de Agosto nos cae en forma numeral DIA NUMERO 194 (17 DE TISRI O 17 DEL SEPTIMO MES) al igual que Genesis 8:4. En el contexto a que en 1917 la LUNA LLENA DE AÑO NUEVO FUE EL 8 DE MARZO TAMBIEN ES INCREIBLE QUE EL 17 DE SEPTIEMBRE O 17 DEL SEPTIMO MES (ANTIGUA DENOMINACION) NOS CAE EN EL 194 LUGAR. Aparentemente el 3 de febrero es el PRIMER DIA DEL AÑO DE NOE. Otro detalle matematico es que el 13 de Agosto (dia numero 225=ciclo de Venus) nos cae, insisto desde el 3 de febrero, 15 de Tisri, osea en la FIESTA DE LOS TABERNACULOS. ¿PORQUE ROSH HASHANAH DE NOE EL 3 DE FEBRERO? |

Canis Major loyally follows its mythical master, Orion, across the southern skies of winter.
The brightest star in Canis Major also is the brightest in the entire night sky — brilliant Sirius, which is just 8.6 light-years away. That's only twice as far as our closest stellar neighbor. Because it is the brightest star of the Great Dog, Sirius is known as the Dog Star. Its first appearance in the dawn sky in August heralds the "dog days" of summer.
Sirius is actually a double star. The star that we see as Sirius is about 20 times brighter than the Sun. It is also hotter and more massive than the Sun. Its companion is known as Sirius B, and is nicknamed The Pup. It is a white dwarf -- the hot, dense core of a star that was once like Sirius itself. At the end of its life, the star blew its outer layers into space, leaving only the core. Sirius B is as massive as the Sun but less than one percent as bright. It shines simply because it's still hot.
Canis Major's second-brightest star is Adhara. It is well below Sirius, in one of the dog's legs. It is about 425 light-years away. It emits about a thousand times more visible light than Sirius does, so if it were moved to the same distance as Sirius, it would look about 200 times brighter than Sirius does.
Because the surface of Adhara is extremely hot, the star emits more ultraviolet energy than visible light. If our eyes were tuned to the ultraviolet, Adhara would outshine every other star in the night sky.
One interesting sight in Canis Major is a star cluster known as M41, which is about 2,300 light-years away. It's visible to the unaided eye as a faint smudge of light below Sirius. Binoculars or a small telescope reveal a swarm of several dozen stars.

El Mes de Kislev
De acuerdo con el Sefer Ietzirá, cada mes del año judío tiene una letra del alfabeto hebreo, un signo del zodíaco, una de las doce tribus de Israel, un sentido, y un órgano controlador del cuerpo que le corresponde.
Kislev es el noveno de los doce meses del calendario judío.
Es el mes de Januca, la única festividad que combina dos meses, comienza en el mes de kislev y continúa y concluye en tevet.
Su nombre deriva de la palabra hebrea "seguridad" y "confianza". Hay dos estados de fé, uno activo y otro pasivo, que se manifiestan en el mes de kislev (bitajón, confianza). El milagro de jánuca refleja la confianza activa de los Jashmonaim (Macabim) para levantarse y luchar contra el imperio helenista y su cultura. El sentido de "dormir" ligado a kislev refleja la fé pasiva de que la providencia de Di-s siempre proteje a Israel.
En la tradición jasídica, el día 19 de kislev es conocido como "el Año Nuevo del Jasidut", día de la liberación de la prisión y redención del rebe Shneur Zalman, autor del Tania, texto clásico de jasidut, discípulo del Maguid de Mezerich, el sucesor del Baal Shem Tov. Fue encarcelado por diseminar los más profundos misterios de la Torá y su liberación implica que es a través del canal espiritual de este día que se baja a este mundo la sabiduría interna del jasidut y el poder de integrar esta sabiduría a nuestra vida diaria. La base del sendero del jasidut es la confianza y la fé en la omnipresencia de Di-s y la omnipotencia de Su providencia Divina.

Samaj significa "sostener" o "apoyar". La experiencia de sentirse apoyado corresponde a la fé y la confianza en la providencia Divina asociada con el mes de kislev como se describió arriba. Así lo encontramos expresado en los Salmos: "Di-s sostiene (somej) a todos los caídos y endereza a todos los encorvados"; "Aún cuando caiga no se lo dejará caer hasta el suelo, porque Di-s lo sostiene (ismaj) en sus manos".
La forma de la samaj es un círculo que representa la omnipresencia de Di-s y Su providencia que abarca o rodea . Según explica la cabalá y el jasidut el "gran círculo" de la luz Infinita de Di-s refleja Su "brazo derecho" que abraza (y soporta, desde abajo) la realidad toda con enorme e infinito amor, como está dicho: "Y desde abajo, los brazos del universo".
Mazal: "keshet", (sagitario, el arco)
El arco de kislev es el de los Macabim. Simboliza su confianza activa en Di-s para luchar contra el imperio y la cultura que entonces regían la tierra.
Aunque los Jashmonaim eran de la tribu de los Sacerdotes de Israel, el "arte" de la arquería es atribuido en la Biblia a la tribu de Benjamín en particular, la tribu del mes de kislev.
Los Cohanim (y Leviim) no son considerados como una de la tribus correspondientes a cada uno de los meses del año (de acuerdo con el Arizal). Como una manifestación "todo abarcadora" del alma judía, los Cohanim contienen y reflejan la fuente espiritual de cada una de las tribus. Esto es así especialmente con respecto a la tribu de Benjamín, ya que en su parte de la tierra de Israel estaba el Templo sagrado donde los Cohanim hacían su servicio. Por eso la relación entre estas dos tribus es similar a la del alma y el cuerpo. Los Cohanim libraron la guerra santa corporizada por el arco de Benjamín. El arco de guerra de kislev es realmente proyectado ("disparado") desde el arco (el arco iris, que en hebreo corresponden a la misma palabra keshet) de paz (entre Di-s y la Creación) del mes anterior Jeshvan, como se explicó antes). Los dos arcos (semicírculos) se unen para formar el círculo completo de la samaj de kislev.
Tribu: Benjamín
Como se mencionó, esta es la tribu más dotada en el arte del arco. En su porción está el Templo Sagrado de Jerusalem, como consta en la bendición de Moisés a esta tribu en el final de la Torá (que sigue directamente a la de las tribus de Cohen y Levi, de acuerdo con la relación que hay entre ellos según se explicó antes) y que es una profecía de la guerra de los Macabiim contra los griegos: "Para Benjamín dijo: el amado de Di-s, El morará seguro sobre él, El sobrevolará sobre él todo el día, y reposará entre sus hombros" (Deuteronomio 33:12). Vemos aquí explícitamente que Benjamín simboliza seguridad y descanso, el sentido del mes de kislev.
De todas la tribus de Israel, Benjamín fue el único que nació en la tierra de Israel, el lugar donde podemos experimentar en mayor medida la Divina providencia y la omnipresencia absoluta de Di-s. En la palabras del Zohar: "No hay ningún lugar libre de El".
Sentido: dormir (sheiná).
El sentido del sueño es la tranquilidad y el reposo que viene de la confianza y la seguridad en Di-s y Su Divina providencia, por eso encontramos en la bendición del final del libro de Levítico (26:5-6): "Y morarás seguro en tu tierra. Y daré paz en la tierra, y podrás acostarte sin temor…".
Como la palabra "sentido" (jush) es semejante a "rápido" (jish), el sentido de dormir implica la capacidad de dormir bien pero rápido (como está dicho de los grandes tzadikim quienes necesitaban muy porcas horas de sueño por día).
El verdadero talento de Benjamín de disparar directo a su objetivo depende de una suma tranquilidad interior del espíritu. Dispara y acierta casi dormido, Di-s lleva su flecha a su destino. Una persona tranquila tiene muy poca fricción y tensión interior. Este sentido implica la habilidad de liberar el stress, confiando en el sustento de Di-s.
El sentido de dormir también trae consigo el de soñar. De acuerdo con nuestra fé en la Divina providencia, manifestada especialmente en relación con la conección entre las porciones semanales de la Torá y el ciclo anual de los meses y sus eventos, todos los sueños de la Torá están contenidos en las porciones que se leen durante el mes de kislev.
Cuando se posee una confianza absoluta en Di-s, se sueñan buenos sueños sobre el futuro. Los buenos sueños en la noche reflejan buenos pensamientos durante el día, especialmente la actitud y conciencia optimista enseñada por el jasidismo (cuyo año nuevo es el 19 de kislev): "Piensa bien, y estará bien".
Miembro dominante: el abdomen (kevá).
La Kevá es una de las tres ofrendas que se nos ordena dar a los sacerdotes al sacrificar un animal casher. Enseñan nuestros sabios que estas tres ofrendas, "el brazo, las mejillas y el abdomen", aluden al acto de autosacrificio de Pinjás al matar a Zimrí (el príncipe de Shimón) y Kozbí (la princesa de Midián), con el cual salvó a los hijos de Israel de la plaga que se había desatado entre ellos. Allí la palabra keiva se refiere al útero de Kozbí.
Vemos así que la keva, que significa "abdomen en el sentido general, incluyendo la región entera del abdomen, tanto como estómago, intestino grueso o útero (también en la Torá significa estómago o útero). Este último se relaciona con la tribu de Benjamín, que en cabalá personifica el secreto del iesod femenino.
Es clara aquí la relación entre el abdomen (cuando está "lleno" y saciado) y el tranquilo estado de dormir (y explícito en las enseñanzas de nuestros sabios).
La palabra keva deriva de kav, que significa "medida". Se dice del gran sabio tanaíta rabi Janina ben Dosa: "El mundo entero se sostiene por el mérito de rabi Janina ben Dosa, aunque para rabi Janina ben Dosa es suficiente una medida (kav) de algarroba de viernes a viernes". Un abdomen tranquilo es el que conoce su propia medida. Este concepto aparecerá nuevamente con respecto al mes de shevat, su sentido (de comer y el gusto) y su controlador (el estómago o kurkavan, desde el esófago hasta el estómago).

¿COMO ES EL CALENDARIO HEBREO EN FUNCION A LA PRECESION DE LOS EQUINOCCIOS?
Tratando de racionalizar el calendario de Noe, en funcion a Sirio, considerando que el 3 de Febrero es el dia numero 34 (dia posterior al numero 33) es increible que el 15 de Agosto nos cae en forma numeral DIA NUMERO 194 (17 DE TISRI O 17 DEL SEPTIMO MES) al igual que Genesis 8:4. En el contexto a que en 1917 la LUNA LLENA DE AÑO NUEVO FUE EL 8 DE MARZO TAMBIEN ES INCREIBLE QUE EL 17 DE SEPTIEMBRE O 17 DEL SEPTIMO MES (ANTIGUA DENOMINACION) NOS CAE EN EL 194 LUGAR O 227 DESDE EL 3 DE FEBRERO. Aparentemente el 3 de febrero es el PRIMER DIA DEL AÑO DE NOE. Otro detalle matematico es que el 13 de Agosto (dia numero 225=ciclo de Venus) nos cae, insisto desde el 3 de febrero, 15 de Tisri, osea en la FIESTA DE LOS TABERNACULOS. Desde el 3 de febrero hasta el equinoccio de primavera, 21 de marzo, tenemos 47 dias e incluso desde el 21 de junio, solsticio de verano, hasta el 6 de agosto, bomba de hiroshima en funcion a la salida heliaca de sirio, tambien tenemos 47 dias. Primitivamente la salida heliaca de SIRIO ERA EN EL SOLSTICIO DE VERANO, osea el 21 de junio. Otro detalle matematico es que desde el 1 de enero hasta el 17 de septiembre tenemos 260 dias=227+33. El numero de oro 161+33=194 e incluso insisto 194+33=227. CONCRETAMENTE 161+33X2=227. ES IRREFUTABLE EN ESTE CONTEXTO EL NEXO 15 DE AGOSTO CON EL CALENDARIO DE NOE DISEÑADO EN FUNCION A SIRIO.

The Origin of Columbia
Today I would like to discuss the Goddess and how it is associated with the capitol of America - the District of Columbia. There will be plenty of background information, but I will try to maintain emphasis on the most recent aspect of the goddess as Columbia.
To begin...
Wikipedia: "Though he never set foot in what became the United States, Columbus is often viewed as a hero because of his pivotal role in U.S. history."
Columbus was fortunate enough to have a very symbolic name.
It would later be used to a great extent in America for it's many meanings and aspects, and slight historical significance. In fact Columbia would become the name of a new Goddess for a New World (NWO?).
Almost from the moment the New World was discovered, it was seen in mythological terms as an exotic goddess, an Indian Queen dressed in feathers and furs ridding an exotic beast like an armadillo and armed with a tomahawk.
The Catholic south adapted the idea of the Goddess of the New World into the ever-expanding hagiology of the Catholic Church.
The Virgin of Guadalupe allowed the archetype to become personal, a connection to the land and its ancestors, while joining a larger universalist vision inside the Church. In the largely Protestant north, things went quite differently.
The 17th century’s Indian Goddess became a tamer Indian Princess, modeled on the archetypal story of Pocahontas...
As the 18th century passed, and America grew more developed and its people more educated, the Indian princess gained a touch of Greek elegance.
"By the late 1790s," folk-art historian Nancy Jo Fox comments, "it was not clear whether a feathered Indian Princess had changed into a Greek goddess or whether a Greek goddess had placed feathers or plumes in her hair."

Her Many Other Names
Most Female/Virgin/Goddess symbolism comes from the constellation Virgo.
The Virgin, Virgo was impregnated by God on the Spring Equinox as the Sun passed into Virgo on March 21st. Nine months later the Son of God is born on the Winter Solstice.
God's sun/son is born or rather re-born every year after the Sun stops on the Tropic of Capricorn for 2 days and on the third day rises from death and is re-incarnated into the world. It then proceeds to come back towards the Northern Hemisphere as the "light of the world."
The New World Virgin Goddess Columbia was just a new manifestation of the ancient consort and virgin mother of god.
Depicted in Christianity as the Virgin Mary, Columbia was created out of Virginia and Maryland. To the Masons, the Square is the female aspect.
Washington's original plan for D.C. was a large square with the future Washington Monument (male symbol, compass) at the center.
In Egypt the trinity consists of Isis, Osiris, and Horus the son. Isis can be seen as the ultimate female deity.
Isis may be the oldest deity in Egypt, and certainly the oldest to survive the ages in much the same form. She may also be the most important, for although the other gods were worshipped widely, Isis was worshipped almost universally by all Egyptians. The major goddess of the Egyptian pantheon, she had many of the same attributes of other mother-goddesses found all over the world.

Isis was as powerful, if not more powerful, than Osiris and Ra.
Isis was also known as Sopdet, consort of Sah. Sopdet (Spdt, Sepedet) is Sothis in greek. In 'The Lamentations of Isis and Nephthys for Osiris', Isis calls herself Sopdet. Sopdet was also connected to the goddess Satet at Abu (Elephantine).

Attributes of the Goddess
The Goddess can be represented in many different ways.
As Venus she is depicted as, or on a clam shell. She is often depicted as a 5 pointed star, or wearing a pentacle as a crown. There's the Triple Goddess of the 3 phases of the moon. The flag of the District of Columbia has 3 five-pointed stars on it.
As the star Sirius she is the Blazing Star and represents water and the color blue, the Spirit of Wisdom and the Brightly Radiating One or Shinning One.
The sycamore specifically was regarded as a manifestation of the goddesses Nut, Isis and Hathor, who was even given the title, "Lady of the Sycamore." Also as the virgin Columbian Flower with it's 5-Petals.
As Innana, Isis, Athena and Minerva she is often depicted with an Owl.
But perhaps the most attributes come when in the form of Columbia.
She is most often shown with an eagle, broken chains and pottery, a cornucopia, images of George Washington, a laurel wreath, a liberty pole and cap, a liberty tree, an olive branch, a rattlesnake, a shield and a stone tablet.
The statue of Columbia that used to stand behind the speaker's chair in the House of Representatives is a fine example. In this one we see the Eagle, and on the other side a snake coiled around a Greek column.

Mother Earth, Primeval Waters, Constellations and Aliens?

Virgin Mary
The name Mary could have some significance to it's connection with the sea, the Abyss, or the water of life which brings fertility to the land in the form of rain or annual floods.
Usual English form of Maria, which was the Latin form of the New Testament Greek names Μαριαμ (Mariam) or Μαρια (Maria) (the spellings are interchangeable), which were from the Hebrew name מִרְיָם (Miryam). The meaning is not known for certain, but there are several theories including "sea of bitterness."

Isis = Sirius, Osiris = Orion
(The goddess star Sirius) In the ancient Vedas this star was known as the Chieftain's star; in other Hindu writings, it is referred to as Sukra, the Rain God, or Rain Star. The Dog is also described as "he who awakens the gods of the air, and summons them to their office of bringing the rain."

This star was the most important of the stars to the ancient Egyptians, and the heliacal rising of this star came at the time of inundation and the start of the Egyptian New Year.
She marked the Summer solstice
As a goddess of the inundation, Sothis was a goddess of fertility.
She also was linked to the pharaoh and his journey in the afterlife. It is interesting to note that Sirius is associated with the flood season. Located just below the Dog Star there exists a constellation called Argo, the Ship.
Near the Cannis Major constellation is the Columb or Dove constellation, depicted with a twig in it's mouth.

The Dogon and Sirius
The Dogon are an ethnic group located mainly in the administrative districts of Bandiagara and Douentza in Mali, West Africa. Dogon religion is defined primarily through the worship of the ancestors and the spirits... They were called the 'Nommo.'
The Dogon are famous for their astronomical knowledge taught through oral tradition... referencing the star system, Sirius.
As the story goes... in the late 1930s, four Dogon priests shared their most important secret tradition with two French anthropologists, Marcel Griaule and Germain Dieterlen after they had spent an apprenticeship of fifteen years living with the tribe. These were secret myths about the star Sirius, which is 8.6 light years from the Earth.
The Dogon priests said that Sirius had a companion star that was invisible to the human eye.
They also stated that the star moved in a 50-year elliptical orbit around Sirius, that it was small and incredibly heavy, and that it rotated on its axis. The Dogons calendar is quite non-traditional in that its fifty year cycle is based neither on the Earth's rotation around the Sun (as is our Julian calendar) nor the cycles of the Moon (a lunar calendar).
Instead, the Dogon culture centers around the rotation cycle Sirius B which encircles the primary star Sirius A every 49.9 - or 50 years...
Since 1844, astronomers had suspected that Sirius A had a companion star. This was in part determined when it was observed that the path of the star wobbled. In 1862 Alvan Clark discovered the second star making Sirius a binary star system (two stars).
The Dogon also claimed that a third star Emme Ya - sorghum female - exists in the Sirius system.
It is described by the Dogan as,
"the seat of the female souls of living or future beings."
The Nommo
Author Robert Temple describes the Nommo as amphibious beings sent to Earth from the Sirius star system for the benefit of humankind.
They look like Merfolk; Mermaids and Mermen. They called the Nommo 'Masters of the Water', 'The Monitors', 'The Teachers or Instructors', 'Saviors', and 'Spiritual Guardians'.
The Dogon elder, Ogotemelli, describes Nommo as having the upper part as a man and the lower portion as snake; or as having a ram's head with serpent body.
As The Dog Star
As the major star of the "Big Dog" constellation, Sirius is often called the "Dog Star."
The name "Sirius" comes from the Latin Si-rius, from Greek Seirios, "glowing" or "scorcher." The Arabic word Al Shi'ra resembles the Greek, Roman, and Egyptian names suggesting a common origin in Sanskrit, in which the name Surya, the Sun God, simply means the "shining one."
It was thought that Sirius actually added to earth's heat because it was so bright.
This has been used to describe the origin of the phrase "dog days of summer." |
