Plutón (mitología)

Para otros usos de este término, véase Plutón. Este artículo trata sobre el dios Plutón de la muerte en la mitología romana. Para el dios de la riqueza de la mitología griega, véase Pluto (dios). En la mitología romana, Plutón (en latín Pluto; en griego antiguo Πλούτων 'Plútôn') era el dios del inframundo. Su equivalente en la mitología griega era Hades, aunque Plutón era más benigno. En cuanto a la etimología del nombre se le confunde con el de Pluto (en griego antiguo Πλοῦτος Ploutos), el dios griego de las riquezas.
Plutón era hijo de Saturno y Ops, y esposo de Proserpina, a quien raptó para casarse con ella. La madre de Proserpina, Ceres, se afligió tanto que provocó el invierno.
Su palacio se ubica en mitad del Tártaro, donde como soberano vela por la administración de su estado y dicta sus inflexibles leyes. Sus súbditos, sombras ligeras y miserables, son tan numerosos como las olas del mar y las estrellas del firmamento: todo lo que la muerte cosecha sobre la Tierra vuelve a caer bajo el cetro de este dios, aumentando su riqueza o convirtiéndose en su presa. Los romanos pusieron a Plutón no sólo entre los doce grandes dioses sino también entre los ocho dioses elegidos, que eran los únicos que estaba permitido representar en oro, en plata y en marfil.

En Sicilia, los siracusanos le sacrificaban cada año dos toros negros cerca de la fuente de Ciane, donde la tradición situaba el rapto de Proserpina. En Roma, el 20 de junio, día de su fiesta, sólo abría el templo de Plutón. Se le sacrificaban animales de pelaje oscuro (ovejas o cerdos) y se dedicaba a su ira inflexible todos los condenados a muerte.

Sobre el monte Soracte, en Italia, Plutón compartía los honores de un templo común con Apolo. Así pues, los faliscos, habitantes del lugar, creían que debían honrar a la vez el calor subterráneo y el del astro del día.
Los habitantes del Lacio y de los alrededores de Crotona habían dedicado al rey de los infiernos el dos como un número infeliz. por la misma razón, los romanos le consagraron el segundo mes del año, y en él se designó el segundo día en concreto para ofrecerle sacrificios.
De todos los dioses, Plutón era el más despiadado y temido por los hombres, quienes lo califican de adamastos (‘inflexible’) o stygeros (‘terrible’). Se le temía por su fealdad y la dureza de sus rasgos. Si bien era inflexible, se consideraba que era el más justo de todos los dioses, pues a su reino acababa llegando cualquier ser mortal más tarde o más temprano, sin importar su clase, rango o lugar de procedencia.
Se le consideró más tarde como dios benefactor, dispensador de riquezas. Según Pausanias, Epiménides había hecho colocar su estatua en los templos de las Euménides y, contra la costumbre habitual, se le presentaba con una forma y actitud agradables.
A menudo se le representa con un casco de piel de perro regalado por los Cíclopes que le hace invisible y que nunca se quitaba. También se le solía representar con un cetro.
El atributo que suele aparecer ante él es el ciprés, cuyo follaje oscuro expresa melancolía y el dolor. Sus sacerdotes se hacían coronas y sembraban sus ropas en los sacrificios.

Representaciones[editar]
Se suele representar a Plutón con una espesa barba y un aire severo. A menudo lleva su casco, regalo de los Cíclopes y que tenía el poder de volverlo invisible. A veces, ciñe su frente con una corona de ébano, culantrillo o narciso. Cuando se sienta sobre su trono de ébano o azufre lleva en su mano derecha un cetro negro, una horca o una pica. A veces tiene llaves en sus manos, para indicar que las puertas de la vida se cierran para siempre para los que llegan en su reino.
Se le representa también en su carro tirado por cuatro caballos negros.

Plutocracia

Plutocracia (del griego πλουτοκρατία, ploutos 'riqueza' y kratos 'poder') es una síntesis crítica que se hace a la democracia, al sufragio universal y al parlamentarismo, pudiendo enunciarse como un sistema de gobierno en el que el poder lo ostentan quienes poseen las fuentes de riqueza.
La plutocracia, después de haber destruido el poder real por la fuerza bruta con disfraz de democracia, ha comprobado y reducido a la nada esta democracia. El dinero es el que habla, el que imprime, el que radia, el que reina, y los reyes, lo mismo que los jefes socialistas, tienen que acatar sus decretos y aún, por extraña paradoja, que suministrar los fondos para sus empresas y garantizar sus utilidades. Ya no se compra a la democracia: se la embauca.

Plutonio - combustible nuclear
El plutonio es un elemento químico, con símbolo Pu y número atómico 94 que pertenece a la serie de los elementos actínidos. El Plutonio tiene 16 isótopos, todos ellos radiactivos. El elemento es un metal plateado y presenta 5 estructuras cristalinas diferentes.
Químicamente el plutonio es un material muy activo. Puede formar compuestos con todos los elementos no metálicos, excepto los gases nobles. El metal se disuelve en ácidos y reacciona con agua, aunque moderadamente en comparación con los ácidos.
Aunque se pueden encontrar trazas en la naturaleza, todos los isótopos de plutonio son de origen artificial.
Radiactividad del plutonio
El isótopo con mayor interés químico es el plutonio-239. Se forma en los reactores nucleares. Es fisionable pero puede capturar también neutrones para formar isótopos superiores de plutonio. El plutonio-239 se emplea como combustible nuclear en la producción de isótopos radiactivos para la investigación y como agente fisionable en armas nucleares.
El plutonio-238. Se utiliza en fuentes de calor para aplicaciones espaciales, generadores de calor termoeléctricos y se ha empleado en marcapasos cardiacos.
Una característica importante de muchos de los isótopos del plutonio es que presentan el fenómeno de la fisión espontánea, en el cual se puede dividir el núcleo de forma espontánea sin necesidad de ser bombardeado por ningún neutrón.
Origen del plutonio
El plutonio se produce cuando el combustible nuclear se quema en los reactores nucleares convencionales. El combustible irradiado procedente de los reactores nucleares está formado fundamentalmente por uranio (con un porcentaje del 96%, aproximadamente) y plutonio (con un porcentaje algo inferior al 1%).
El combustible gastado se puede gestionar de dos formas distintas en el largo plazo:
- Gestión de ciclo abierto. En el ciclo abierto se considera que el combustible gastado es un residuo radiactivo de alta actividad desde el momento de su descarga del reactor y se almacena de manera definitiva.
- Gestión de ciclo cerrado. El ciclo cerrado consiste en someter al combustible gastado a un proceso mecánico-químico, conocido como reelaboración o reproceso, que permite separar al uranio y plutonio que aun contienen productos de fisión y transuránicos. El uranio y plutonio recuperados se emplean para fabricar nuevo combustible y los productos de fisión y los transuránicos constituyen el residuo de alta actividad.
Función del plutonio en los reactores nucleares
A medida que se va generado plutonio en el interior del combustible de los reactores nucleares, este plutonio también se fisiona, colaborando con el uranio en la producción de energía. Durante el proceso, también se originan otros isótopos de plutonio; algunos son absorbentes de neutrones y otros son isotopos fisionables.
Dependiendo del tiempo de irradiación o del o grado de quemado a que se llegue la proporción de estos isótopos de plutonio en el combustible. A quemados reducidos la proporción de los isótopos fisibles es muy alta, mientras que a quemados altos esta proporción se reduce.
En los reactores comerciales, los elementos combustibles permanecen en el reactor largos tiempos hasta que la acumulación de productos de fisión y el consumo del material fisionable anulan su contribución al funcionamiento del reactor.
Gestión del plutonio recuperado en los reactores nucleares
En el combustible gastado quedan entre 7 y 8 kilogramos por tonelada de plutonio sin quemar. Este plutonio, recuperado en el reproceso, se puede usar para sustituir el uranio- 235 en el combustible nuclear, fabricando pastillas de óxido de uranio y óxido de plutonio mezclados, (combustible MOX).
El combustible MOX puede sustituir al combustible de uranio enriquecido en los reactores nucleares de agua ligera.
Peligrosidad del plutonio sobre la salud
El plutonio es radiactivo y tóxico. Pero aunque a veces se ha descrito en los medios como la sustancia más tóxica conocida por los humanos hay sustancias que los son mucho más. El radio de ocurrencia natural es alrededor de 200 veces más radiotóxico que el plutonio, y algunas toxinas orgánicas como la toxina botulínica son billones de veces más tóxicas que el plutonio.
El principal tipo de radiación que emite (radiación alfa) no atraviesa una hoja de papel, es decir, una fina capa de un material puede parar la radiación. No puede atravesar la piel.
Lo que hace realmente peligroso al plutonio es su radiotoxicidad. La radiación que emite (alfa) cuando se ha ingerido o inhalado, puede producir cáncer de pulmón o cánceres de otros tipos según donde esté depositado en el cuerpo. En cantidades considerablemente mayores pueden causar envenenamiento agudo por radiación y muerte si son ingeridos o inhalados.
El plutonio ha sido usado en explosivos durante un largo tiempo. En las pruebas atmosféricas de armas nucleares se han liberado grandes cantidades de plutonio que posteriormente caen y se depositan en el suelo.
No es probable que los seres humanos se vean expuestos al plutonio, pero a veces tiene lugar como resultado de escapes accidentales durante su uso, transporte o vertido.
Cuando se respira, el plutonio puede permanecer en los pulmones o moverse hasta los huesos u otros órganos. Generalmente permanece en el cuerpo durante mucho tiempo y expone a los tejidos del cuerpo continuamente a radiación. Después de unos pocos años esto podría resultar en el desarrollo de cáncer.
Lo que es más, el plutonio puede afectar la habilidad de resistir enfermedades y la radioactividad del plutonio puede causar fallo reproductivo.
Efectos ambientales del plutonio
El plutonio se encuentra presente de forma natural en cantidades muy pequeñas. Sin embargo, el plutonio tiene otras vías de entrada en el medio ambiente a través de escapes de reactores nucleares, plantas de producción de armas, e instalaciones de investigación. Especialmente en las pruebas de armas nucleares.
El plutonio puede entrar en las aguas superficiales por escapes accidentales y vertidos de desechos radioactivos. El suelo puede contaminarse con plutonio a través de la lluvia radiactiva durante las pruebas de armas nucleares. El plutonio se mueve lentamente hacia abajo en el suelo, hasta las aguas subterráneas.
Las plantas absorben bajos niveles de plutonio, pero estos niveles no son lo suficientemente altos como para provocar biomagnificación del plutonio en la cadena alimenticia, o acumulación en los cuerpos de animales.

Revolución de Chuquisaca

La Revolución de Chuquisaca fue el levantamiento popular ocurrido el 25 de mayo de 1809 en la ciudad de Chuquisaca, perteneciente al Virreinato del Río de la Plata. La Real Audiencia de Charcas, con el apoyo del claustro universitario y sectores independentistas, destituyeron al gobernador y formaron una junta de gobierno.
El movimiento, fiel en principio al rey Fernando VII de España, fue justificado por las sospechas de que el gobierno planeaba entregar el país a la infanta Carlota Joaquina de Borbón, pero desde los comienzos sirvió de marco para el accionar de los sectores independentistas que propagaron la rebelión a La Paz, donde se constituiría la Junta Tuitiva. Reprimido violentamente este último y más radical levantamiento, el movimiento de Chuquisaca fue finalmente deshecho.
Para la historiografía independentista hispanoamericana este acontecimiento suele ser conocido como el Primer Grito Libertario de América.[1]
Antecedentes[editar]
Invasión francesa a España[editar]
El 18 de octubre de 1807, las tropas francesas al mando del general Junot entraron a España, aliada del Primer Imperio francés. Napoleón Bonaparte tenía como objetivo primario ocupar el Reino de Portugal que se resistía a implementar el Bloqueo Continental contra Gran Bretaña.
El 27 de octubre de 1807 el ministro Manuel Godoy firmó el tratado de Fontainebleau, por el que España comprometía su apoyo al ataque. No obstante, las fuerzas de Junot fueron tomando el control efectivo de ciudades y puntos estratégicos del país, lo que movió a la casa real a retirarse a Aranjuez (Madrid) y planear su emigración a América, siguiendo la estrategia de la corte portuguesa que tras la entrada de los franceses a su país, el 23 de noviembre de 1807, se había trasladado a Brasil.
Al conocerse el rumor, el 17 de marzo de 1808 se produjo el Motín de Aranjuez, que forzó la renuncia de Godoy y la abdicación de Carlos IV en su hijo Fernando VII. Ante los sucesos, el 23 de marzo los franceses ocuparon Madrid y Napoleón ordenó el traslado a Bayona a la familia real.
El 2 de mayo se produjo en Madrid un levantamiento de la población sangrientamente reprimido, mientras que el 6 de mayo, en los sucesos conocidos como las Abdicaciones de Bayona, Fernando reconoció a su padre como rey legítimo, por lo que — dado que éste había cedido sus derechos a Napoleón — la corona recaía en el emperador, quien designó a su hermano José Bonaparte como el rey de España e Indias.
Juntas de Gobierno en España[editar]
Ni el renunciamiento ni el abyecto servilismo que demostró Fernando fueron suficientes para mover a la población a aceptar el cambio dinástico. El 25 de mayo se constituyó la primera junta de gobierno en Oviedo, Asturias, y con diferencias de días surgieron otras, provinciales o locales, en Murcia, Villena, Valencia, León, Santander, La Coruña, Segovia, Valladolid, Logroño, etc.[2]
El 27 de mayo de 1808, Sevilla creó su propia junta con el nombre de Junta Suprema de España e Indias, que pretendía — al igual que las restantes — gobernar en nombre de Fernando VII y preservar sus derechos al trono, política que la llevó a declarar la guerra a Napoleón el 17 de junio.[3]
En esas circunstancias, en 1809, primero en Chuquisaca, y luego en muchas otras ciudades americanas bajo el dominio del Imperio español, detonó una crisis política a causa de la crisis institucional en la metrópoli y de las tensiones revolucionarias que venían madurando en las sociedades coloniales.

The Moon, our nightlight, can be viewed most nights -- and some days -- no wonder it has been a focus of exploration for over 50 years. In fact, it has been 50 years since President John F. Kennedy gave his "Decision to go to the Moon Speech" as part of his address to congress titled: "Special Message to the Congress on Urgent National Needs." This speech announced the national goal of landing a man on the Moon and returning him safely to Earth within the decade.
And go we did. Before we could send a man to the lunar surface various preparatory missions came first, such as the Ranger, Surveyor, Lunar Orbiter, Gemini and early Apollo missions. (Surveyor 1 was the first American soft landing on the Moon 45 years ago this year.) It wasn't until near the end of that decade did a man (Neil Armstrong, 20 July 1969) set foot on our nearest neighbor, and oh what a step.
"That's one small step for a man, one giant leap for mankind."
Since then a total of 12 men have walked on the Moon, and missions to the Moon, such as the current Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter, expand our knowledge of our satellite. Soon GRAIL will take to the skies, and once arriving at the Moon it will measure the Moon's gravity field with twin spacecraft flying in tandem.

Speaking of St Michael, there is only one item of stained glass in the church, in the east window of the South (Templar) chapel; I don't know when it dates from. I presume this is St Michael, slaying a dragon.  It could be St George, who also killed a dragon, but St Michael seems more likely, as he's the saint to whom the church is dedicated.

Isaac Newton believed that the prophecies of Daniel and St. John the Revelator were in fact a single prophetic work separated by time.”THE Apocalypse of John is written in the same style and language with the Prophecies of Daniel, and hath the same relation to them which they have to one another, so that all of them together make but one complete Prophecy; and in like manner it consists of two parts, an introductory Prophecy, and an Interpretation thereof. The Prophecy is distinguished into seven successive parts, by the opening of the seven seals of the book which Daniel was commanded to seal up: and hence it is called the Apocalypse or Revelation of Jesus Christ…. these Prophecies of Daniel and John should not be understood till the time of the end: but then some should prophesy out of them in an afflicted and mournful state for a long time, and that but darkly, so as to convert but few. But in the very end, the Prophecy should be so far interpreted as to convince many…” Isaac Newton, Observations upon the Prophecies of Daniel, and the Apocalypse of St. John (1733)The time-distance correlation (In Temple at the Center of Time) works with statute miles for years BC and nautical miles for years AD. A “mirroring in distances” already exist between Patmos, where St. John wrote “Revelation” 539 n miles from the temple and Babylon where Daniel wrote his prophecies, 539 s miles from the temple, (Babylon fell in 539 BC). However, because Newton postulated that the prophecy of Daniel was the introduction to a later interpretation by the Revelation of St. John, the distances of each prophet from the temple are combined using nautical miles only. Numerous findings of nautical miles equaling years of events pertaining to the temple of Jerusalem in the present era, AD show that nautical miles should be used in this combined calculation for discerning the future mapped out in these two prophetic books. This distance is 1008 nm.  In the entire New Testament, the only word that equals ‘1008’ is found in Revelation 16:16: “Armageddon” ????????? ! What is more, the coming year, 2016 is also indicated. It functions using the dimensions of the Great Pyramid in which Isaac Newton established the “sacred cubit” at 25.20 inches in his work : “A DISSERTATION upon the Sacred Cubit of the Jews and the Cubits of the several Nations; from the Dimensions of the greatest Egyptian Pyramid”.   Using the Revelation key of 1512, (the word Apocalypse equaling 1512 in Greek) the Great Pyramid dimensions and prophetic year, 2016 are determined.The biblical sacred cubit is seen especially in the Great Pyramid’s perimeter measurement, 3024 feet ( 36288 inches) at 25.20 x 1440 & also one fourth its perimeter, (9072 inches) at 25.20 inches x 360. 1512 / 2 = Pyramid side in feet 756 (756 x 3.3333333333333… = 2520) 1512 x 6 = Pyramid side in inches 9072 (9072 = “Greek gematria for “the Kingdom of Heaven” 2888 x PI) 1512 / PI = Pyramid height in feet 481 1512 x 2 = Pyramid perimeter in feet 3024 Using round figures, the sum of the radii of both the Earth and Moon (in miles) is 3960 + 1080 = 5040. 1512 x 3.33.. = 5040 1512 + 2016 + 1512 = 5040 5040 is the perimeter of the Temple mount in feet… 2016 equals the raised platform within the Temple mount in feet. …the difference between these two measurements repeats the perimeter of the Great Pyramid, 3024. The number 1008, interacts with the dimensions of the Great Pyramid and 1512 “Revelation” showing an “end-time” signature year (2016).
