Según la Oficina del Censo de los Estados Unidos, la ciudad tenia un área total de 61.7 km² (23.8 mi²). 61.5 km² (23.8 mi²) era tierra y 0.2 km² (0.1 mi²) era agua (0.29%).

En la mitología griega, Pitón era una gran serpiente, hija de Gea, la madre Tierra, nacida del barro que quedó en la tierra después del gran diluvio. El monstruo vivía en una gruta cerca de Delfos, en el Monte Parnaso, y allí custodiaba el oráculo. El dios Apolo mató a Pitón, exigió el oráculo para sí y desde entonces fue conocido como Apolo Pitio. Se dice que el dios había fundado los Juegos Píticos para celebrar su victoria.
Delfos es una ciudad en el continente griego que se encuentra situada en el valle del Pleisto, junto al monte Parnaso. Originariamente recibió de nombre Pito, y se llamaba así aún en la época de la guerra de Troya. Después pasó a llamrse Pitón, como la serpiente de Gea, que aguardaba el antiguo oráculo de la diosa Temis. Se dice que, después de matar a la serpiente, Apolo fundó su oráculo en este lugar. Entonces tomó como primeros sacerdotes a navegantes cretenses, a los que apareció y guió en forma de delfín. Así los condujo al Golfo de Corintio y seguidamente los llevó al monte Parnaso.
Ellos dieron el nombre de Delfos a la ciudad, a petición de Apolo, que según la tradición les pidió que se dirigiera a él y lo venerasen bajo el nombre de "Apolo Delfino". El primer templo que se dedicó al dios fue construído con laurel, arbusto consagrado a Apolo (por causa de Dafne). El segundo habría sido construido con cera de abejas y plumas. El tercero fue enteramente hecho de bronce, pero un movimiento sísmico lo derribó. Finalmente los arquitectos Agamedes y Trofinio construyeron el templo definitivo.
Delfos fue desde el principio un importante centro cultural en el que se celebraron certámenes musicales y deportivos. Los Juegos Píticos igualaban en importancia a los Olímpicos, y se celebraban también cada cuatro años, sin coincidir. El premio para los ganadores era la conora de laurel en lugar de la de olivo. El primer ganador de los certámenes musicales fue Crisotemis, el hombre que purificó a Apolo después de que este diera muerte a la serpiente Pitón. Otro ganador del que tenemos noticia fue Tamiris, amante de Jacinto, primer hombre que tuvo relaciones homosexuales y que permanece en el Tártaro por haber intentado competir con las Musas, quienes además le privaron de la vista.
El oráculo
Estaba situado en una cueva profunda con una estrecha entrada. En ella se situaba un gran trípode, en el que se sentaba la Pitia para recibir la inspiración divina que le dictaba las respuestas oraculares. El oráculo de Delfos fue el más famoso de la antigüedad. Su situación como centro del mundo, señalaba el ónfalos, le confirió un prestigio especial, de manera que muchos tesoros y botines de guerra fueron guardados allí, en pequeñas edificaciones.
El poder oracular de la gruta fue descubierto causalmente gracias a las cabras que abundaban en la zona, por lo que para los sacrifios a Apolo en Delfos se suelen utilizar estos animales. Es tradición que estas cabras quedaron atrapadas en la gruta por un terremoto y comenzaron a balar de una forma realmente extraña. Un pastor, que acudió a averiguar la razón de ese extraño fenómeno, que quedó igual de poseído que las cabras, y comenzó a precedir sucesos futuros. Todo el que se aproximaba a la gruta obtenía este extraño poder, y fue fama que procedía de Gea.
Pero la fuerza de atracción que la gruta ejercía sobre todo aquel que se aproximaba era tal que muchos terminaban precipitándose por la grieta que el terremoto había dejado en la tierra, por lo que se designó una Pitonisa para emitir las profecías. En principio la Pitonisa era una mujer joven y virgen, pero se dieron varios casos de violación y finalmente eran mujeres mayores y poco atractivas las encargadas de emitir los oráculos.
Los consultantes tenían una entrevista con ella unos días antes del oráculo. Este hecho está perfectamete documentado en las noticias que dan los autores de la Antigüedad. El oráculo se celebraba un día al mes, el día siete, que se consideraba como fecha de nacimiento de Apolo. Los consultantes eran de todo tipo, de grandes reyes hasta gentes pobres.
La Pitia daba respuestas (el verdadero oráculo) que un sacerdote recogía y escribía en forma de verso. Después se le entregaba al consultante. En un primer momento, las sentencias de la Pitonisa se hacían en verso, pero a mucha gente le parecía extraño que siendo Apolo el dios de la música, tuvieran las predicciones tan mala calidad rítimica y melódica. Así que pronto la Pitonisa comenzó a predecir en prosa.
Las Excavaciones
En 1676 Jacques Spon (francés) y Geroge Wheler (inglés) llegaron al emplazamiento del santuario convertido en un poblado llamado en ese momento Castri. En su visita por el lugar se fijaron en muchas inscripciones en la iglesia de un monasterio que había sido construida justamente sobre los muros del antiguo gimnasio. En estas inscripciones leyeron la palabra Delphi. Lo mismo les ocurrió en algunas casas del poblado. En estos años no pasó de ser una noticia para los historiadores; no hubo excavaciones.
Pasados dos siglos, en 1840, un arqueólogo alemán llamado Karl Otfried Müller trabajó en esta zona y descubrió entre las casas del poblado una parte del gran muro poligonal del recinto del santuario.
El descubrimiento fue una llamada a seguir trabajando. Llegaron más arqueólogos franceses y alemanes, que fueron poco a poco descubriendo indicios y vestigios de la joya arqueológica que se escondía en aquel lugar. Pero la tarea era muy difícil, pues la presencia del poblado impedía hacer excavaciones en serio.
Empezaron entonces los tratos y los proyectos para trasladar a otro sitio todo el poblamiento de Castri, hasta que en 1881 hubo un acuerdo entre el gobierno griego y el gobierno francés (muy interesado en las excavaciones) para expropiar, trasladar y reconstruir el nuevo emplazamiento, la ciudad actual llamada Dhifis (Delfos). Comenzó una gran actividad arqueológica dirigida por el jefe de la Escuela Francesa de Arqueología de Atenas, Téophile Homolle.
Fueron apareciendo piezas restos de estatuas criselefantinas (es decir, estatuas que tenían la cara, las manos y los pies de marfil y el cabello de oro), piedras de edificios, columnas rotas, etc. Después vinieron las restauraciones llevadas a cabo por la Escuela Francesa de Arqueología, con las subvenciones del Ayuntamiento de Atenas y aportaciones particulares de ciudadanos griegos.
De esta forma vieron la restauración:
El Tesoro de los Atenienses que fue reconstruido pieza a pieza.
El Templo de Apolo, del que apenas se conserva algunas columnas.
El Estadio, que es el mejor conservado de la Antigüedad.
El Tholos o santuario de Atenea.
La fuente Castalia.
El ágora romana.
El altar de Quíos.
Varias columnas.
Muchas de las piezas fueron llevadas al museo de Delfos que, en la actualidad, es uno de los más ricos de Grecia: entre otras el famoso Auriga, de bronce, tamaño natural ofrendado por Polyzelos; la Esfinge de Naxos, los Mellizos de Argos y una copia romana del Ónfalos que era la piedra en forma de huevo que señalaba el centro u "ombligo del mundo" en Delfos y que fue encontrado durante las excavaciones hechas en el templo de Apolo.

La fiesta de la Transfiguración del Señor se venía celebrando desde muy antiguo en ... y enemigo del cristianismo, y cuya noticia llegó a Roma el 6 de agosto.
Y se transfiguró delante de ellos: su rostro se puso brillante como el sol y sus vestidos se volvieron blancos como la luz. En esto, se les aparecieron Moisés y ...
3. Y sus vestidos se volvieron resplandecientes, muy blancos, como la nieve, tanto que ningún lavador en la tierra los puede hacer tan blancos.

Era el hijo único del matrimonio compuesto por William Sturt Taylor, un contratista en construcción y Mona Stewart Taylor, una escritora de cuentos infantiles que residían en un suburbio de Sydney llamado Lidcombe. Los Sturt descendían del explorador Charles Sturt, uno de los primeros exploradores del continente australiano.

En 1963 realizó su interpretación más recordada, como protagonista de Los pájaros, de Alfred Hitchcock, en la que compartía protagonismo con la actriz Tippi Hedren. En ese mismo año también trabajaría junto con Jane Fonda en la película Un domingo en Nueva York. En 1965 protagonizaría la película El soñador rebelde de Jack Cardiff; esta película era una biografía del dramaturgo irlandés Sean O'Casey, y tenía que haber sido dirigida por John Ford, pero por problemas de salud no la pudo realizar.
En 1967 protagonizaría Intriga en el gran hotel, de Richard Quine, haciendo el papel de Peter McDermot, que años más tarde haría James Brolin en la famosa serie de televisión Hotel. También en 1967 interpretó Chuka, película del veterano director Gordon Douglas, producida por el propio Taylor, en la que el actor interpretó a Chuka, un rápido pistolero que sacrificaría su vida por amor.
El estrellato que no pudo recuperar en el cine, se lo daría la televisión durante los años ochenta, en que protagonizó una serie sobre la Guerra fría titulada Mascarada. Desde entonces apareció en importantes series como estrella invitada y en algún cameo cinematográfico. En 1985 protagonizó, con Britt Ekland, una película rodada en España: Marbella, un golpe de cinco estrellas, donde participaron Fernando Fernán Gómez y Paco Rabal.

November 9, 1985 was a very special day. It was the first time Charles and Diana arrived in the USA together. In my opinion their arrival at the airport was meant as a reference to the iconic images of JFK and Jackie arriving at Lovefield, Dallas.
The JFK post was also about a key moment in terms of the color codes used by the elite. For the very first person to welcome them was the lady dressed in blue Celeste and black, providing an exact match with Diana's red and white.
The actual meeting of these two persons, coming from opposite directions, yielded the color code.
With this in mind, have a look at the intro of the 1977 movie Saturday Night Fever; it's the song "Staying Alive".
So it's about Staying Alive during the Saturday Night Fever...Right at the beginning there is a blatant clue, a trigger:
He compares his red shoes with the black ones in the shop....So we must be alert for the black/red (just like his own clothing) and shop windows...
At 0.18 there is the next trigger, the lady in the blue Celeste coat:
On that moment the shot moves from his feet upward. In the next sequence (0.18-0.24) a dark-haired lady appears dressed just like Travolta in black and red:
Next (at 0.36), it's the first time Travolta focusses on a woman, coming from the opposite direction. Her sweater is white and Celeste blue!
So, just like the arrival of Charles and Diana at the airport, this is a matching color code caused by the meeting of two persons coming from opposite directions.
The next sequence is about John Travolta buying and eating a pizza. This was probably included to show some time had passed until the next trigger at 1.31:
It's the same lady in the Celeste blue coat and the white bag again!
Now compare this sequence (1.31-1.34) with the sequence after the first trigger (0.18-0.24):
The same lady in black/red clothing appears in about the same setting!
It was shot on exactly the same location with almost the same actors involved. However, it's not a loop, for in the second sequence Travolta looks up a bit. I'd like to make two gif's of these two scenes to show the similarities, but Gifsoup.com has been loading terribly slow lately. To me it looks like with these two sequences they maybe tried to symbolizea time loop: although the time moved on, almost identical events returned to happen.
At 1.35 there is another hint, the focus on the swaying paint can:

The next clue is at 1.46. We're reminded of a shop window, just like at the very beginning of this movie. So what would be the message if you follow-up on this "shop window" clue?
From 1.51 on it's getting more intense: triggers and hints synchronize.
The hint: he focusses on a girl (for the second time after the color code match)
The trigger: the very same lady with the b/w/r bag and blue Celeste coat walks next to her...
Clues all over now: she shows the world her bag: "Yes, it's the same bag, it's me, the same person!"
The scene changes dramatically when Travolta approaches the dark haired lady: it's not even the same street! Blatant error!
Why?
But wait a minute: it's the same actress again in this shot, now walking in the opposite way!
A meeting in the opposite direction = going back in time...
This gentleman is holding a blue Celeste coat in his hands as well...So let's keep an eye on him as well.
Then, the original setting returns. Look at the old lady in grey and the man in the brown leather coat: time has passed...
But wait a minute: it's the same actress again in this shot as well! (See her bag...)
WHY would they have inserted the scene with Travolta approaching the second lady within this street sequence in such a crappy, blatant way?
The answer must be within the hints, within the triggers: black/red, shop windows, blue Celeste coats.
Okay, now have a good look at this shop window: black/white/red...We're getting closer and closer...
It's the French flag!
Look at the hint provided by the gentleman and his blue Celeste coat. He was hiding this from us:

That's why they made this weird looking scene within the street sequence. Just to trigger us on the French flag. That's their hint, which they were so eager to communicate to their viewers back in 1977!

Patrick Sexton from Ireland wrote to let me know about some interesting symbolism he ran into while visiting the place where the Academy Awards happen in Hollywood. I took a look and uncovered much more.
Magic Castle, located at 7001 Franklin Avenue in the Hollywood district of Los Angeles, California, is a nightclub for magicians and magic enthusiasts, as well as the clubhouse for the Academy of Magical Arts. It bills itself as “the most unusual private club in the world.”
The lobby of the Castle has no visible doors to the interior, and visitors must say a secret phrase to a sculpture of an owl to gain access, exposing the entrance to the club.

With the renovation of the El Capitan Theater next door in the early 1990s, Disney began leasing the building for special events, including its use as a “toy box” for the 1995 premiere of “Toy Story.”
In 1998, Disney purchased the building. In 2002, after extensive renovation, Disney reopened the building as the El Capitan Entertainment Centre. Disney restored original fixtures, including backlighted stone filigree, wrought iron torchieres, Batchelder tiles and old post boxes once used by Masonic officers.

Getting back to Intolerance…”this complex film consists of four distinct, but parallel, stories — intercut with increasing frequency as the film builds to a climax — that demonstrate mankind’s persistent intolerance throughout the ages. The film sets up moral and psychological connections among the different stories. The timeline covers approximately 2,500 years:
The ancient “Babylonian” story (539 BC) depicts the conflict between Prince Belshazzar of Babylon and Cyrus the Great of Persia. The fall of Babylon is a result of intolerance arising from a conflict between devotees of two rival Babylonian gods — Bel-Marduk and Ishtar.
The Biblical “Judean” story (ca. 27 AD) recounts how — after the Wedding at Cana and the Woman Taken in Adultery — intolerance led to the Crucifixion of Jesus. This sequence is the shortest of the four.
The Renaissance “French” story (1572) tells of the failure of the religious tolerance that led to the St. Bartholomew’s Day Massacre of Huguenots by Roman Catholic royals.
The American “Modern” story (ca. 1914) demonstrates how crime, moral puritanism, and conflicts between ruthless capitalists and striking workers help ruin the lives of marginal Americans.” -Source
The films seems to be all about intolerance as the name suggests rather than presenting tolerant solutions to coexistence. Was this film or its director worthy of glorifying almost 100 years later?
The Babylonian story is the one that the developers decided to build out at Hollywood & Highland. Here is a closeup shot:
The elephant reminds me of the the pachyderms discussed in Bolton, Arsenic and War, and Pasternoster Squares. The pair of lions are symbols of Babylonian Ishtar (also known as the Sumerian Inanna, or Egyptian Isis). Here’s what I’m calling the Ishtar gate:
The god on the right is Assyrian Nisroch (Bablyonian Nusku). The pinecone (pineal gland) is strangely absent in the Hollywood version. Nusku was the son of the god Sin. That’s interesting because Ishtar (Sumerian Inanna) was the daughter of Sin. In the Sumerian version Inanna and her sun-god brother Utu were twins. One big happy freaky alien family of Sin.
Some religious authors consider Nisroch to be a fallen angel….Johann Weyer and Collin de Plancy wrote that Nisroch is chief of cuisine to the princes in Hell. -Source

Thinking on this I drew a line from the Ishtar Gate at Hollywood & Highland to the original location of the Ishtar Gate in Babylon (modern day Iraq). The real Ishtar Gate is now in Berlin.
The distance between Ishtar Gates measures 6555 miles.
Look at how the line from the Ishtar gate in Hollywood perfectly traces the reconstructed wall of Babylon:
Babylon is located at 32° 32′ 32″ N latitude.
David Flynn’s book Temple at the Center of Time lists the distance from the Foundation Stone at the center of the Dome of the Rock in Jerusalem to Babylon as 539.86 miles and I verified that this is indeed a fact. Flynn correlates this with the fact that Babylon fell on 12 Oct 539 BC.
The night before that date a disembodied hand [from the fourth dimension?] appeared and King Belshazzar couldsee the writing on the wall (and thus the origin of this idiom):

“Although usually left untranslated in English translations of Daniel, these words are known Aramaic names of measures of currency: MENE, a mina (from the root meaning “to count”), TEKEL, a spelling of shekel (from the root meaning “to weigh”), PERES, half a mina (from the root meaning “to divide”, but additionally resembling the word for “Persia”).
Despite various inducements, none of the royal magicians or advisors can interpret the omen. The King sends for Daniel, an exiled Jew taken from Jerusalem, who had served in high office under Nebuchadnezzar. Rejecting offers of reward, Daniel warns the King of the folly of his arrogant blasphemy before reading the text.
The meaning that Daniel decrypts from these words is based on passive verbs corresponding to the measure names.
And this is the writing that was inscribed: mina, mina, shekel, half-mina. This is the interpretation of the matter: mina, God has numbered the days of your kingdom and brought it to an end; shekel, you have been weighed on the scales and found wanting; half-mina, your kingdom is divided and given to the Medes and Persians. -Daniel 5:25–28

Flynn says that Issac Newton “looked on the whole universe and all that is in it as a riddle, as a secret which could be read by applying pure thought to certain evidence, certain mystic clues which God had laid about the world to allow a sort of philosopher’s treasure hunt to the esoteric brotherhood.

The current name Jerusalem, or Yerusalem as it is sometimes pronounced, is derived from UR-SALEM or the “Capital city of Salem.” The Sumerian UR was used only for capital cities and there could only be one UR in Mesopotamia. Abram and Sarai both grew up in the Mesopotamian capital city of UR. When Abram was 99 Yahweh renamed him Abraham and his wife became known as Sarah.

The four letters YHWH (Hebrew: יהוה) known as the tetragrammaton refer to Yahweh, the name of the god of Israel. Observant Jews write down but do not pronounce the Tetragrammaton, because it is considered too sacred to be used for common activities. -Source

This is essentially identical to Plutarch’s 1st century description of ISIS at her temple at Sais where it was inscribed:

The histories of the Sumerians, Babylonians, Assyrians, Egyptians, and Jews are intertwined in a gordian knot.

And thanks to Kaleb who sent me the following correlation. The Secret Intelligence Service Building (MI6) is known within the intelligence community as Babylon-on-the-Thames for its resemblance to a ziggurat:

Consider also the building known as The Ziggurat in southern California (designed by William Pereira, the architect of the Transamerica Pyramid) which just happens to be located at 33°33′ N that I blogged about in my 2013 post. It’s home to the western division of the Department of Homeland Security.

Thanks to Joylon who wrote a comment on my Santa Monica Pier post alerting me to the mysterious Park La Brea development which is 2.5 miles away from Hollywood & Highland.
Park La Brea is unlike the rest of the urban fabric in greater Los Angeles.
The street layout was created in a masonic pattern as a reference to the masonic heritage of the Metropolitan Life Insurance Company, which built the complex toward the end of World War II and immediately thereafter.
Metropolitan Life Insurance also constructed a sister complex, Park Merced in San Francisco, which features a similar street layout as Park La Brea. At the same time, they built Stuyvesant Town and Peter Cooper Village in Manhattan, Parkchester in The Bronx, and Parkfairfax in Alexandria, Virginia just outside Washington, DC. -Source
Who would have thought Met Life had a masonic heritage? The street layout reminds me of this arrangement:
A different Patrick contacted me (also of Irish extraction) to say that La Breá means sunny day in Irish. The octagonal street layout is of course a solar symbol. Park La Breá has some interesting sister complexes.
Speaking of sister complexes, in Babylonian and Assyrian mythology, Ereshkigal, sister of the sky goddess Ishtar/Inanna, was the goddess of the land of the dead from which no-one returns. She managed the destiny of those who were beyond the grave, in the Underworld where she was queen. Note the pairs of lions and owls, Ereshkigal’s bird legs and wings. Not exactly human.
Zecharia Sitchin details how Inanna went down to Ereshkigal’s realm where she was met with less than familial affection. Ereshkigal killed her and hung her lifeless body on a stake. Only with uncle Enki’s help was Innana resurrected. -Source
We have been conditioned to think that magic is only an illusion, or a tale told to children. What if paranormal or ceremonial magic-magick was real in the sense that it is a communication and exchange of energy with real entities in an unseen realm? What if Hollywood was encoding this knowledge into films?

VENECIA (Italia). Una película bastante convencional sobre las miserias del sur estadounidense sirve de base para recuperar el lado más oscuro de Nicolas Cage, que en "Joe" abandona momentáneamente el cine más comercial para retomar un estilo de personajes que le van como un guante.
"Joe", dirigida por David Gordon Green -responsable de filmes como "Snow Angels" o "Pineapple Express") - recibió hoy algunos aplausos en su proyección en la sección oficial del 70 Festival de cine de Venecia, aunque no deslumbró con su previsible historia.
"He vivido en el sur y siempre me han interesado las historias del sur", explicó en rueda de prensa Green, acompañado por un Cage bastante parco en palabras y que se mostró encantado de participar en el proyecto de un realizador del que aseguró ser fan y con el que quería trabajar "desesperadamente".
"Lo hubiera hecho desnudo si me lo hubiera pedido", afirmó el actor, que destacó del director que no tiene miedo "de salir de la zona confortable". Un proyecto "espectacular" que ha sido uno de los "más memorables" de su carrera como actor, que incluye títulos como "Arizona Baby", "Wild at Heart" o "Leaving Las Vegas", por el que ganó el Óscar al mejor actor.
En esta ocasión Cage interpreta a Joe, un hombre que vive en un pueblo cualquier de Estados Unidos, con antecedentes de cárcel y violencia, que vive siguiendo unas reglas muy particulares y que un día se encuentra con un adolescente al que toma bajo su protección.
El joven Tye Sheridan interpreta brillantemente a Gary aunque es Gary Poulter, el actor que da vida a su padre, el que realmente está por encima de todos sus compañeros de reparto. Era su primera experiencia en el cine y también fue la última porque falleció poco después de terminar el rodaje de "Joe", según explicó el director, que resaltó que Poulter fue encontrado por el responsable del "casting" cuando vivía en las calles de una ciudad de Texas.
"Ha sido un gran honor trabajar con alguien tan bueno como Nicolas -un sueño hecho realidad- pero también una increíble experiencia hacerlo con alguien como Poulter", que había tenido un "negro camino en el pasado" y al que se abría un futuro mucho mejor a partir de su participación en "Joe". Poulter hizo unas pruebas tan brillantes que el director decidió aumentar su papel en la historia, en la que se convierte en el personaje clave, en el padre alcohólico y maltratador que provoca una reacción en cadena.
"Nos ayudó de una forma que no puedo describir", afirmó Green de un actor que borda un papel muchas veces interpretado pero al que dota de una enorme veracidad. "Joe" está basada en un libro de Larry Brown que el realizador quería llevar al cine desde hacía años. Le fascinaba su visión de la masculinidad, la forma en la que un hombre es incapaz de gestionar sus problemas internos.
Casi como en un western, con el gran tema de la redención como centro de una historia en la que el protagonista intenta cambiar su vida, redimirse, adaptando el papel de padre para un joven, casi un niño, que no cuenta con unos padres que le protejan, señaló el realizador. Porque, como señaló Cage, "el amor es amor y no tiene que ver con los lazos de sangre". Es sobre esa premisa sobre la que se construye una historia en la que la violencia y la justicia personal se imponen a la legalidad.
En el vértice superior de todo esto está Joe, un personaje que Cage no ha querido interpretar, sino sentir. "La palabra 'actuar' me molesta porque implica una mentira. Prefiero la palabra 'ser'". Una historia muy diferente a las rodadas hasta ahora por un director que reconoce que tiene una "carrera muy inusual" pero en la que todos sus trabajos, de una manera u otra, tienen una relación. "Probablemente, cuando tenga ochenta años, la gente logrará ver un recorrido preciso en mi filmografía", agregó.
