Es Hermes, "dios de los rebaños", "protector de los comerciantes" y "mensajero de Zeus", y acompaña a las almas al inframundo.
También resalta como patrono de la elocuencia y se le cree inventor de la escritura.
Inventó la astronomía, las matemáticas y los pesos y medidas , por lo que se le consideró dios de los comerciantes.
No todas sus advocaciones eran positivas , pues no solo protegía los abusos de los comerciantes, sino que era dios de los ladrones, y ladrón el mismo por vocación irresistible, de la que no se libraban ni los propios dioses. Así por ejemplo le robó a Poseidón el tridente.
Era además de mensajero de los dioses , "dios de los caminos".
Hermes llegó a ser el dios tutelar de la juventud y de la salud y fortaleza física, el intermediario entre hombres y dioses y el protector de la fecundidad.
Sus principales atributos son las alas en los pies, el caduceo de heraldo (especie de vara con dos alas extendidas en su parte superior y rodeada de dos serpientes) y la bolsa.
Hermes es un dios griego que en el mundo romano recibiría el nombre de Mercurio.

Jacob’s Ladder
Jacob’s ladder appears in the ‘Tracing Board’ and is reaching into the Heavens. Jacob was the grandson of Abraham and Sarah, the son of Isaac and Rebecca. Jacob's 12 sons were the ancestors of the 12 tribes of Israel. The 12 tribes of Israel is a reference to the twelve houses of the Zodiac, just like the 12 apostles of Jesus are. That’s why Leonardo Da Vinci portrayed the apostles in 4 groups of three in his painting of the Last Supper separating the zodiac into four seasons.

Jacob dreamt of the Milky Way as a ladder with angels ascending and descending it. The ascending angles of course are the up and down moving stars in the sky.

During summertime the Milky Way stands erect on the horizon and forms a ‘Stairway to Heaven’ or Jacob’s ladder. The idea of representing the Milky Way as a stairway or ladder leading to Heaven was a very common theme in ancient times. This idea was expressed as a rope, a tree (World Tree) or a ladder leading into the skies. The Maya called the Milky Way the Wakah Chan during summer sunrise ‘the raised up sky’ and it was represented as the World Tree.
On the website the Scottish Rite freemasons speak about the ‘The Volume of the Sacred Law’ appearing on the table with the circle and dot (Sun) supporting Jacob’s ladder. The Volume of the Sacred Law is a reference to the religious book, the Holy Bible containing the Masonic square and compasses.
This statement I believe states that the Sun (circle and dot) is supporting the Milky Way (Jacob’s ladder) and that this knowledge is contained in ‘The Volume of the Sacred Law’, the Bible which rests between the Sun (circle and dot) and the Milky Way (Jacob’s ladder). In other words they are speaking of the importance of the Sun on the Milky Way (Galactic Alignment), information that is contained in the bible...

Think of a large tree, we only see half of the tree. We look in amazement and wonderment at the life that is harboured in its branches and the incredible atmospheric processing factory the tree is. We forget that below us is the other half of the tree, its roots providing a harbour for an entire ecosystem, and the roots are an enormous chemical processing plant.   Duir - Double-ended oak treeThis picture comes from an ancient druid grove in Derby and shows an oak tree (Duir) with its branches and roots entwined to make the circle of life. In the 90s an ancient oak tree was uncovered as the sea went very far out on the Norfolk coast. It had been buried upside-down within a circle of posts, a woodhenge. Time Team built a replica of it that was most impressive and gave you a strong sense of what the place must have been about. I have often wondered what is beneath Silbury Hill, not just what is in it. The Nile as Tree of Life: but which is the root and which is the branch? What is up and what is down? For the Ancients, The Med was the bottom of Egypt, South was at the top. The Delta is the roots.  Black is white. Above is below. Top is down.

Both these events happened during the exact SAME moon phases (waxing crescent)...the day after a NEW MOON!From the NEW MOON (the darkest night, geddit?) to the following day. On a NEW MOON sunlight is shone on the side of the moon (dark side) that we can't see...hence the darkest phase. After the new moon, the sunlit portion is increasing, but less than half, so it is waxing crescent. After the first quarter, the sunlit portion is still increasing, but now it is more than half, so it is waxing gibbous. After the full moon (maximum illumination), the light continually decreases. So the waning gibbous phase occurs next. Following the third quarter is the waning crescent, which wanes until the light is completely gone -- a new moon.

 Había una vez un zorro muy joven, él ya no quiso vivir más en la casa de sus padres así que decidió dejarlos y vivir solo. Una noche cuando sus progenitores dormían, él preparó todo para irse. Salió a pie juntillas para no hacer ruido, abrió la puerta con mucho sigilo y después de atravesarla la cerró con mucho cuidado. Caminó tratando de no pisar la maleza seca que abundaba por ese lugar. La noche no estaba muy oscura, así que caminó todo lo que pudo, hasta que se cansó y se quedó dormido entre las grietas de una gran roca. Cuando amaneció, despertó sobresaltado, pues había olvidado que ya no estaba en su casa sino en el campo. Miró para todos lados, no reconocía el lugar, tampoco por donde había venido, subió hacia una pequeña loma tratando de divisar su casa, pero fue en vano, no logró ver nada, se asustó y se entristeció un poco. Luego pensó:
«Seguiré adelante, soy un zorro fuerte y mi padre me enseñó a cazar, no debo asustarme». Así que se puso en camino; después de un largo caminar vio a los lejos un bosque.
«¡Comida!», pensó, y se dirigió a ella corriendo con desesperación.
Llegó al bosque cansado y sediento, olfateó el aire y siguió su instinto animal, pronto encontró un riachuelo en donde bebió agua hasta saciarse. Luego de descansar un poco escuchó revolotear tiernos pichones, a los cuales comenzó a perseguirlos hasta alcanzarlos, los devoró y así satisfizo su hambre. El cansancio le hizo dormirse y durmió toda la tarde. Al despertarse era ya de noche y vio que sobre él se posaba una brillante luz, era la luna cuyos brazos de plata le cubrían, se sintió muy bien, miró a ver de dónde venía tan exquisita luz y luego de moverse un poco divisó entre el follaje de los altos árboles, a la luna, inmensa, bella, cautivante, radiante. Era una inmensa reina acompañada de otras más pequeñas, pero hermosas también que con rutilante brillo posaban junto a ella. El zorro quedó anonadado, su pecho se inflamó, sus sentidos quedaron paralizados por un instante y se sintió como flotando en el aire tibio de la noche, estaba enamorado. La volvió a mirar y suspiró.
 —Hola hermosa y bella luna, te pido que seas mi novia —le dijo a viva voz, ella no respondió—. ¿Qué pasa, por qué no me respondes? —le preguntó—, ¿será porque estás muy lejos?, eso no es problema mi dulce amada, te alcanzaré, escalaré la montaña en donde estás sentada y allí te hablaré de mi amor ¡Espérame!
El zorro corrió con todas sus fuerzas, contendió con la gravedad como nunca nadie antes lo había hecho, su amor le hizo superar muchos obstáculos y desafíos, que ningún ser osaría siquiera intentarlo. Por fin estuvo al pie de la montaña.
—Ahora subiré y te pediré que vivas conmigo para siempre, amada mía.
El zorro corrió cuesta arriba, estaba agotado, no podía más y aún le faltaba un largo trecho, pero siguió adelante, hizo un gran esfuerzo, llegó a la cumbre arrastrándose, totalmente agotado. Estando en la cima se paró sobre sus patas posteriores y alargando sus patitas delanteras la miró con dulzura y dio un salto hacia ella para abrazarla y besarla, pero no pudo alcanzarla, se dio cuenta que estaba aún más alta, entonces el zorro triste y cansado por el enorme sacrificio, murió.
La luna compasiva al ver lo que había hecho el zorro por su amor, lanzó sus brazos de fulgurante luz hacía él, y el cuerpo inerte del zorro comenzó a elevarse y a elevarse hasta que por fin cumplió su sueño de estar en los brazos de su amada luna.
Y colorín colorado, este cuento peruano se ha terminado.
