For most of my childhood, my hometown had very link little diversity. I was one of a small handful link of Asian kids at my elementary school (people thought we were all related) and being adopted into an interracial family made me doubly unusual. Staying in the closet until college only added fuel to the awkward, anxiety-filled fire that was my adolescence. I link didn't exactly fit in.
