El peor rechazo

No hay nada que golpee tan profundamente a alguien como el rechazo. El saber que alguien nos considera indignos, desagradables o incompetentes, afecta la percepción que tenemos de nuestro propio valor. Un trabajo reprobado o la pérdida de un empleo, son cosas que contaminan el paisaje de nuestras vidas. Felizmente, la mayoría de nosotros podemos manejar esta clase de situaciones, aunque la experiencia no es nada agradable.
La Biblia habla de una clase diferente de rechazo, que es otro asunto completamente diferente. Es difícil concebir el terror final que experimentarán quienes rechazan la amorosa oferta de salvación de Dios. Oirán estas tres palabras viniendo de la boca del Señor Jesús: “Apartaos de mí”. El Señor dice estas palabras más de una vez en los Evangelios para anunciar el juicio final de los desobedientes. Estas personas encontrarán su destino en la agonía de la separación eterna de Dios.
Muchas personas han tenido dificultad para aceptar la clara severidad de las palabras de Jesús. No reconocen que este rechazo final es, en realidad, la respuesta apropiada a la negativa del incrédulo de recibir la solución del Señor en cuanto al problema del pecado de la humanidad. Sí, este rechazo es el final del camino, un camino pavimentado con toda una vida de decisiones que dejaron a Dios fuera.
Cada decisión de actuar de modo independiente, es una decisión de aceptar el veredicto final del Salvador. O, como lo expresó G. K. Chesterton: “El infierno es el gran cumplido de Dios a la realidad de la libertad humana, y a la dignidad de la elección humana”. |

A Dark Sabbath

Just as Christ once rested in the stern of a boat through a raging storm, He rested in the tomb as storms raged within His disciples. A day after Jesus’ death, fear, doubt, and grief must have cycled endlessly through their minds. Memories of their lives with Him must have played there too: how it felt to stand upon a rolling sea, to feed thousands with a few loaves of bread, or to see Lazarus’ burial clothes heaped in the dirt. No doubt their hearts grew sick with confusion as they contemplated these things.
The disciples’ feeble faith shouldn’t surprise us, because if we’re honest, we see it in ourselves. The “little of faith,” as Jesus often called them, failed to believe or remember things the Lord said of Himself—that He’d lay down His life and take it up again. Had His followers faithfully held these things in their hearts, that Sabbath day might have been a time of joyful anticipation.
At times in our lives, God may seem absent, but ultimately we know that He will never leave us (Heb. 13:5). And unlike the disciples, we’ll never experience the dark prospect of a failed Savior. But many times we forget the promises of God. In the face of uncertainty, how frequently do we turn to a “do-it-yourself” Christianity to fix our problems?
Too often we look no further than our own solutions, when what we need is the wonder-working power of Christ’s resurrection and a posture of humility as we wait on Him. If we are willing to wait through the darkness of night, we can rest in knowing that morning will surely come. |

Un pueblo especial

Cada vez que los sentimientos de baja autoestima nos amenacen con el desaliento, necesitamos confiar en la verdad de la Palabra de Dios, no en nuestras emociones. Hoy examinaremos cuatro frases que describen cómo el Señor ve a cada creyente. Lo ve como:
1. Linaje escogido. Dios nos escogió para ser parte de su reino y de su familia, porque así lo quiso. Nadie que haya sido elegido por el Todopoderoso es insignificante.
2. Real sacerdocio. Como creyentes, somos hijos de Dios y, por tanto, parte de una familia real. En otras palabras, somos “herederos de Dios y coherederos con Cristo” (Ro 8.17). Así como Jesús cumplió los papeles de rey y sacerdote, Dios también nos ha confiado las responsabilidades sacerdotales de adoración e intercesión por los demás.
3. Nación santa. La iglesia, o cuerpo de Cristo, es un grupo de personas santas, que significa “apartadas” para los propósitos de Dios. Nuestra vida nunca carece de sentido, porque vivir para el Señor es la misión más grande que podemos tener.
4. Pueblo adquirido por Dios. Usted y yo somos posesión de Dios (Dt 14.2; Tit 2.14; 1 P 2.9). Él nos valora tanto que envió a su Hijo a morir en nuestro lugar para que pudiéramos ser suyos.
Cada una de estas descripciones muestra el alto valor que Dios le da a usted. Satanás puede susurrar crítica y condenación, pero no puede cambiar lo que usted es realmente. Comience el día de hoy recordando su verdadera identidad y viviendo el llamamiento supremo del Señor. |

There is a way that seems right to a man, but in the end it leads to death. –Proverbs 14:12
Road construction. Everyone wants its benefits, but no one wants its hassles. Road construction means slow traffic, inconvenient detours, extra travel time and hot tempers. Drivers will do most anything to avoid traveling in the orange cone zone. Our city even posts “orange cone alerts” on the morning rush hour broadcast in order to allow drivers the opportunity to choose another route to work. What baffles me is that even with all of the road signs and warnings, drivers continue to travel the same route day after day expecting something different and then getting frustrated when it’s not!
Our spiritual life is much the same way. No one wants to stay in the same lane of traffic he or she began in. We really do want the benefits of a soul under construction. Slow traffic, inconvenient detours, extra travel time and hot tempers are as much a part of the spiritual journey as they are a part of daily road construction. In fact, if we’re honest, they bring about the same level of personal frustration.
Growth takes time. So does healing, maturity, forgiveness, restoration and reconciliation. Sure, a quick fix looks good, but only on the surface, much like a pothole that road crews gave the “token fill.” It works for a while, but one unlucky driver will pay the consequences of a job that only fixed the surface.
A road under construction takes time and attention; so does the soul. Church attendance, prayers, Bible reading and even serving in ministry, when not allowed to penetrate deep into our hearts to touch our souls, only makes the surface of our lives look good. Soul work requires hard labor, critical examination of one’s life, ruthless scrutiny of one’s decisions and integrity, not to mention deep wells of grace, and rich gifts of forgiveness. This work takes perseverance and discipline, yet the payoff for a well-constructed soul is worth the effort!
GOING DEEPER:
1. How is the construction of your soul progressing? Take time to evaluate today.
2. Honest soul work is difficult and is likely to bring about the occasional detours, roadblocks and potholes of personal pain, confrontations and exposure of sin. But the end result of a soul set free is worth the work. Commit today to persevering through the tough moments of soul-building.

All a man’s ways seem innocent to him, but motives are weighed by the Lord. –Proverbs 16:2
A lady answered the knock on her door to find a man with a sad expression. “I’m sorry to disturb you,” he said, “but I’m collecting money for an unfortunate family in the neighborhood. The husband is out of work, the kids are hungry, the utilities will soon be cut off and worse, they’re going to be kicked out of their apartment if they don’t pay the rent by this afternoon.” “I’ll be happy to help,” said the woman with great concern. “But who are you?” “I’m the landlord,” he replied.*
We all have motives for the things we do. Yet, often these motives operate unchecked, below the surface of our own awareness. Could it be that like the landlord in the story, our motives for doing good deeds are too often layered with self-interest? I believe that all Christians, to one extent or another, struggle with mixed motives for our actions. When we take time to truthfully evaluate, we find that we constantly face the inward tug-of-war between saint and sinner. Like the Apostle Paul, all Christ-followers experience the desire to do those things that please the Lord, but often end up doing something different instead. Or, like the landlord in the story, we bring mixed motives to even our best attempts to serve in Jesus’ name. We serve the Lord, even while pursuing self-interests like recognition, fame, comfort, success, pride, control, money, getting someone off our back and the like.
What’s the answer to the problem of mixed motives? Honestly, I think this is a life-long struggle we face. We need to be prepared for the battle. We can minimize the effect of our own mixed motives by being honest with ourselves, performing regular self-evaluation combined with confession and repentance. God’s grace is sufficient to help us win the daily battles. We will never completely banish this foe from our lives during this life, but we can gain the upper hand in the struggle by checking our motives regularly and by trusting God to make us more like His Son.
GOING DEEPER:
1. Reflect on a recent experience where you volunteered time to serve in a ministry or did something good for someone else. Can you identify any mixed motives that were at work?
2. If you find that you are experiencing a struggle with mixed motives, confess this to the Lord. Ask for His presence in your life to help you put away self-interest in your actions.

Un propósito especial

El Señor nos ha hecho un pueblo especial para que podamos cumplir con una misión especial. Isaías 43.21 dice: “Este pueblo he creado para mí; mis alabanzas publicará”. Una parte integral de la adoración al Señor es proclamar su grandeza.
Alabar a nuestro Padre celestial es aplaudirlo por ser Él quién es, y por lo que ha hecho. Esto implica la liberación de nuestras emociones para expresar la adoración abierta y confiada al Señor. Cuando alguien ama a otra persona, la respuesta más natural es elogiarla. De la misma manera, quienes aman a Cristo descubren que la alabanza viene con facilidad a sus labios.
Alabar al Señor es bueno para nosotros. En nuestra sociedad egoísta, las personas están interesadas básicamente en satisfacer sus necesidades. Por desgracia, esta misma actitud se ha infiltrado en algunas iglesias. Pero Dios no quiere que vengamos a la iglesia pensando solo en nosotros. La alabanza levanta nuestros ojos a Cristo, y llena nuestro corazón con la satisfacción que no tenemos cuando nos centramos exclusivamente en nuestros problemas y necesidades.
Aunque la alabanza y la adoración están asociadas, por lo general, con los servicios de la iglesia, ellas deben caracterizarnos en dondequiera que estemos. Algunas de las experiencias más íntimas y preciosas de la adoración pueden ocurrir en los momentos pasados a solas con Dios.
Si usted se da cuenta de que su alabanza carece de vitalidad, exprese su deseo sincero al Señor de aprender a alabarle con todo el corazón. Enfocarse en la adoración es la clave. Recuerde las maneras en que Dios ha cuidado de usted, y dígale lo grande que es Él. |

Cómo manejar la soledad

La soledad puede ser un problema para toda la vida, o algo que dure poco tiempo. La duración la determina, muchas veces, la manera como la manejemos. Volvernos al Señor puede ayudarnos a encontrar la manera de superarla.
Admita sus sentimientos de soledad. Ser creyentes no nos impide experimentar la sensación de soledad. De hecho, muchos salmos de David hablan de su anhelo de tener compañerismo. Si le expresamos nuestros sentimientos al Padre celestial y clamamos por su toque, Él nos responderá (Sal+91.15). Yo le digo a Dios con frecuencia que necesito su abrazo. Y su respuesta es tan real, como si un ser humano me estrechara entre sus brazos.
Cultive amistad con personas que aman a Dios. Debemos pedir a Dios que nos dé personas que nos dirijan a Él en los buenos y en los malos momentos. Son esos amigos que ven nuestras faltas y nos siguen queriendo. Por ejemplo, uno de mis amigos más queridos dice a menudo en son de broma, refiriéndose a mí: “Charles nunca espera que lo entiendan, simplemente que lo amen”.
Ancle su vida a las Sagradas Escrituras. Si nos aferramos a la Palabra de Dios en nuestros momentos de soledad, terminaremos teniendo un mejor conocimiento del Señor. Antes de predicar el primer sermón de mi vida, mi madre me compartió Josué 1.9 para que recordara que debía esforzarme y ser valiente, porque Dios estaría conmigo siempre. Este sigue siendo el versículo que busco cuando necesito ayuda.
Si usted está luchando con sentimientos de soledad, clame a Dios por ayuda. Él estará con usted para acompañarle. |

En busca de dirección

Como hemos visto, hay un patrón para buscar la dirección de Dios. El primer paso —la limpieza— es realmente importante en todo el proceso. De hecho, casi todos los pasos restantes no tienen ningún orden en particular, y pueden articularse en muchos aspectos.
La excepción es la entrega. El Señor no puede compartir sus planes para nuestra vida hasta que nos comprometamos a seguirle, pase lo que pase. Él sabe si estamos buscando su dirección para obedecer, o simplemente para pensar en lo que Él dice.
Por tanto, la entrega antecede al momento de pedir. Primera de Juan 5.14, 15 dice que el Señor nos escucha y concede nuestras peticiones cuando pedimos conforme a su voluntad. Es posible hacer peticiones que no son de Dios, pero los creyentes que se rinden a Él sabrán cómo pedir correctamente, por lo que recibirán la mejor respuesta posible.
La mayoría de las veces, Dios guía a los creyentes a una respuesta por medio de su Palabra; por esta razón animo a las personas a meditar en ella (Sal 119.105). Nuestra lectura puede llevarnos al pasaje que trata nuestra situación, o revelarnos un principio aplicable. A veces, Dios da un mensaje clarísimo al corazón de una persona, que nadie más encontraría en ese pasaje específico. La clave es creer que el Señor le guiará, y tener esa fe (Mr 11.24).
El proceso de buscar dirección suele ser lento, por lo que debemos esperar.
Adelantarse y manipular las circunstancias puede ser un error costoso. El omnisciente Soberano del universo actúa a favor de quienes esperan en Él (Is 64.4). Si usted busca su dirección, la recibirá. |

Esperar en Dios

Nuestra cultura es una sociedad de “lo inmediato”. Gracias a inventos como la computadora y el microondas, estamos acostumbrados a los resultados rápidos. Un ritmo acelerado no es necesariamente malo, pero debemos evitar buscar siempre la realización inmediata de las cosas, sin esperar el tiempo de Dios.
Este problema es muy anterior a la era de la computación. En Génesis 15.4, 5, Dios le dice a Abraham que, aunque él y su esposa Sara eran demasiado viejos para tener hijos, de él nacería una gran nación. Abraham le creyó a Dios, pero pronto decidió tomar el asunto en sus manos. Se llegó a Agar, la sierva de Sara, para que ella pudiera tener el hijo prometido (Gn 16).
Es probable que Abraham justificara su decisión, al pensar que el Señor quería que tuviera un hijo. ¡Puesto que era imposible tenerlo de otra manera, eso era seguramente lo que Dios quería que hiciera! Pero no era así. Abraham tuvo que cargar con las consecuencias de sus acciones: celos, resentimientos y hostilidad entre Sara y Agar. Estos problemas, a su vez, crearon después más dificultades, tanto a corto plazo como a lo largo de la historia.
Pero el Señor fue fiel, y catorce años después Sara tuvo un hijo. Pero las consecuencias de la decisión de Abraham de ignorar el plan de Dios están todavía con nosotros. Los dos muchachos llegaron a ser padres de dos naciones que siguen en conflicto hasta el día de hoy.
Como Abraham, nosotros debemos creer las promesas de Dios, pero preferimos los resultados inmediatos. O que las cosas sean a nuestra manera. Pídale al Señor que le dirija, y espere en Él. Lo que Él haga quizás no sea lo que usted quiere, pero será siempre lo mejor. |

La actitud de un verdadero creyente

El apóstol Pablo tenía cierta mentalidad que los cristianos harían bien en imitar (1 Co 11.1). En su actitud había:
Humildad. El orgullo no puede ocultarse en el corazón de un creyente que entiende la misericordia divina. Pablo difundió el evangelio porque sabía que la gracia que fue suficiente para salvar a un pecador como él, era suficiente para todos.
Un sentido de gratitud. El apóstol nunca olvidó hasta dónde lo había llevado la gracia de Dios. Recordaba a menudo a los creyentes el papel que había tenido en la persecución de la iglesia (1 Ti 1.13). La gratitud de Pablo por la salvación de su vida anterior nunca menguó. El libro de Hechos registra la ansiedad constante y el sufrimiento en sus viajes, pero seguía alabando al Señor por el privilegio de servirle.
Un sentido de dependencia. Para referirse a la fuente de su fortaleza, Pablo utilizó estas palabras: “Por la gracia de Dios soy lo que soy” (1 Co 15.10). Él sabía lo que era depender de la bondad propia humana, y esforzarse por ser buen religioso —y no quería saber nada de eso. Pablo deseaba más de Cristo, y nada de sí mismo (Fil 3.8).
Un espíritu de absoluta confianza. Al final de su vida, Pablo estaba más seguro que nunca, de que Dios era real, que tenía el control, y de que era digno de toda honra, gloria y alabanza (2 Ti 4.6-8).
¿Ve estas actitudes en usted? Siga el ejemplo del apóstol Pablo. Alabe al Señor por todo lo que ha hecho por usted, y luego dedíquese a trabajar para su reino. No permita que su gracia se derrame en vano sobre su vida (1 Co 15.10). |

Nuestra relación inseparable

Dios es amor. Su naturaleza es cuidar incondicionalmente de su creación. Lo cual significa que no importa lo que haga una persona —incluso si le rechaza— el Señor no dejará de amarla. Después de leer esa frase, muchas personas buscarán un montón de motivos para creer que ellas son la excepción. Así que, permítame dejar en claro que Dios nos ama a todos y lo único que nos impide experimentar ese amor es nuestra actitud. Se trata de si vamos a creer en nuestros sentimientos, o en la verdad de las Sagradas Escrituras.
Pablo señala que Dios está a favor del creyente (vea Ro 8.31). Dio a su Hijo Jesucristo para que muriera, y de esa manera pudiéramos ser purificados e iniciar una relación con Él. El sacrificio de Jesús es prueba del amor de Dios, pero hay muchas otras expresiones de su amor por nosotros. El Señor tiene un propósito y un plan para la vida de cada persona. Por medio de su control soberano, Él obra en cada situación —buena y mala— para nuestro beneficio (Ro 8.28). Es un Padre amoroso que no solo está interesado en lo que nos suceda, sino también está activamente involucrado en nuestra vida diaria.
Algunas personas leen y creen intelectualmente cada palabra de la Biblia, pero todavía no se sienten amadas porque se consideran indignas. Sus dudas actúan como un muro, evitando que el flujo del amor de Dios llegue a sus corazones. Esta barrera se mantendrá mientras la persona crea que debe ganarse el amor de Dios. Pero ningún pecador merece ser amado incondicionalmente. Y aunque Dios lo sabe, nos da su amor libremente. De nosotros depende aceptarlo o no. |

My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. –John 10:27
Near the village of Gevas in eastern Turkey, while shepherds ate their breakfast, one of their sheep jumped off a 45-foot cliff to its death. Then, as the stunned shepherds looked on, the rest of the flock followed. In all, 1,500 sheep mindlessly stumbled off the cliff. The only good news was that the last 1,000 were cushioned in their fall by the growing woolly pile of those who jumped first. According to The Washington Post, 450 sheep died.
The Bible often refers to human beings as sheep (Psalm 100:3, Isaiah 53:6, Matthew 9:36). Easily distracted and susceptible to group influence, we would rather follow the crowd than the wisdom of the Shepherd.
I’m glad the Bible also describes sheep in a positive way. Jesus said, “I am the Good Shepherd…My sheep hear my voice, and I know them and they follow me” (John 10:14, 27).
So the big question for us is: whom are we following? One another? Self-centered shepherds? Or the voice and direction of the Good Shepherd?
Our challenge is to avoid the mistake of the sheep who blindly followed one another over a cliff. We must make it our daily purpose to ask ourselves: am I listening for the voice of the Good Shepherd? Am I following Him?
Savior, like a shepherd lead us,
Much we need thy tender care;
In thy pleasant pastures feed us,
For our use Thy folds prepare. — Thrupp |

You may say, “I am allowed to do anything.” But I reply, “Not everything is good for you.” And even though ‘I am allowed to do anything,’ I must not become a slave to anything. — 1 Corinthians 6:12 (NLT)
An athletic young man stood before his peers. An ordinary piece of sewing thread was cut from a spool and wrapped once around his torso and arms and tied. He was asked to break free from the thread. Like a young Samson in training, he easily broke the thread that bound him. The young man’s peers teased him, “Oooooohhhhhhh,” they chided, in chorus.
A longer piece of thread was wrapped around the young man. This time the thread was wrapped around his body three times. The young man, again, was asked to break free from his bonds. This time, it took real effort on the young man’s behalf, but he broke free of the threads. Again, his friends mockingly cheered, “Woohoo!” The young man struck a body-builders’ pose in response.
Finally, one last, long piece of thread was cut from the spool and wrapped around the young man. This time, the thread was wrapped a dozen times around his body. But this time, as he tried to break free, he struggled and struggled. His friends cheered him on. Soon, the cheers turned to laughter. This young man could not break the thread and finally gave up.
This story can serve as a good warning to us about the power of bad habits. Bad habits are formed by repetition. Like a body wrapped in a single thread, negative or destructive behaviors are not that difficult to stop. Yet, just as multiple threads are increasingly more difficult to break free of, as behaviors are repeated, bad habits become more and more difficult to stop — and have more and more power over our desires and choices.
Don’t be misled that a negative or destructive behavior isn’t a big deal. If you aren’t careful, that bad habit just may wrap you up in such a way that makes it very difficult to break free.

Cosas que pueden ser sacudidas

Dios tiene maneras de sacudir al mundo cuando se propone hacer algo grande. Por ejemplo, hizo temblar literalmente a la Tierra cuando Jesús murió en la cruz, y también cuando el Espíritu Santo vino en Pentecostés (Mt 27.51). No hubo nada casual en la actividad sísmica que acompañó a estos dos hechos. Y fueron mensajes nada sutiles: ¡Presten atención, porque están sucediendo cosas importantes!
Es posible que la Tierra no esté temblando hoy, pero Dios está, sin duda, moviendo algunas cosas. Está dejando que las alianzas políticas, los sistemas financieros y los patrones éticos se tambaleen. Estamos viendo la poca solidez y el deterioro de las estructuras sobre las cuales hemos basado el orgullo y la esperanza nacionales. Las familias están en crisis, y muchos matrimonios están colapsando. Lamentablemente, la gente ha construido su vida sobre los débiles fundamentos de la sabiduría, bondad e ingenuidad humanas. Pero hay solo un fundamento seguro: Jesucristo (1 Co 3.11).
Dios tiene siempre un propósito al permitir sacudidas en su ordenada creación. Entre otras cosas, está sacudiendo a la iglesia de su apatía y enfoque en sí misma, recordando a los creyentes que no deben confiar en las inestables estructuras de este mundo, sino descansar en el firme y seguro fundamento provisto por el amor, la salvación y el reino de Dios.
Como embajadores del Señor en el mundo, y los únicos que estamos sobre terreno firme, tenemos la responsabilidad de ofrecer verdadera esperanza a aquellos que han perdido el rumbo. Ningún trabajo, gobierno, o incluso religión, pueden darle a una persona seguridad por mucho tiempo. El único refugio perdurable es una relación con el soberano Señor Jesucristo. |

Jesus told them, “Go back to John and tell him what you have heard and seen — the blind see, the lame walk, the lepers are cured, the deaf hear, the dead are raised to life, and the Good News is being preached to the poor.” –Matthew 11:4-5 (NLT)
I was thinking the other day about blinders. You’ve probably seen a horse wearing blinders before. They are used to keep the horse’s eyes focused on its destination, by preventing them from seeing anything but what is immediately in front of them. Without those coverings, the horse can become easily distracted. With blinders, the horse is only aware of what is ahead of it. For horses, blinders are useful.
Sometimes, people wear blinders too. They aren’t physical blinders, mind you, but ones of the heart and mind that serve to focus our attention. These blinders can serve a positive role, but, oftentimes, they are negative, especially when we become focused on our problems and miss the bigger picture of what God is doing.
For an example, the Gospel of Matthew relates a story about John the Baptist. From prison, John the Baptist sends his disciples to ask Jesus if he is the One. As a result of his ministry, John had been thrown into prison. Now, this same man who clearly recognized Jesus as the Messiah, suddenly couldn’t see past his own circumstances. His circumstances had blinded him to the bigger picture, causing him to doubt who Jesus was. Jesus’ response to John’s question is found in Matthew 11. He told John’s disciples to report to him what they have seen. In essence, Jesus was asking John to remove the blinders caused by his circumstances; to see beyond his cell walls and realize all that Jesus was doing.
What is your vision like? Is it hard to see God working because you have blinders on? Is it hard to believe or trust or take steps of faith because all you can see is what’s right in front of you? Sometimes life is not as you thought it would be and you’ve put blinders on and can only see life based on your circumstances. Maybe you wonder why God isn’t working in your life or showing Himself to you anymore. Perhaps you need to stop wondering where God is and take off the blinders that hinder your vision. Understand that our circumstances never change who God is. Our challenge is to trust God even in the midst of our circumstances.
When you doubt or find it difficult to trust God, know that He wants to help you take off your blinders. Don’t get trapped in your circumstances and lose sight of who you know the Lord to be.

2. Think of two ways you have seen God work recently in someone else’s life. How can you use that as encouragement when times of doubt come?

Las recompensas de un servidor

Por su gracia, Dios da salvación a quienes ponen su fe en Jesús. No podemos ganarnos este regalo, ni tampoco lo merecemos. Pero nuestro Padre celestial sí ve nuestras buenas obras, y promete recompensarnos según lo que hayamos hecho para Él.
El servicio tiene lugar cuando dejamos que el Señor obre por medio de nosotros, para su honra y gloria; cuando los recursos divinos satisfacen las necesidades humanas mediante nosotros.
Apocalipsis 22.12 nos estimula: “He aquí yo vengo pronto, y mi galardón conmigo, para recompensar a cada uno según sea su obra”. Ya sea grande o pequeño, todo servicio hecho en el nombre de Jesús será recompensado. Pero debemos asegurarnos de que nuestras acciones sean para la gloria de Cristo. Si la motivación es nuestra propia gloria, la única recompensa que recibiremos será la alabanza (si acaso) de quienes nos rodean. Y sabemos que la aprobación de los hombres no satisface ni es duradera.
Si bien algunas recompensas serán dadas en el cielo, otras pueden recibirse ahora mismo. Por ejemplo, el gozo que sentimos al permitir que Dios bendiga a otros por medio de nosotros, y al agradar a Cristo. Además, hay un profundo sentido de satisfacción cuando llevamos a una persona a Jesús y la enseñamos a andar por fe.
Servir a los demás es una gran bendición y una responsabilidad. Debemos considerar sinceramente cuál es nuestra motivación para estar seguros de que nuestro propósito sea glorificar a Cristo. Solo así recibiremos las recompensas que nos serán dadas, no solo en la eternidad, sino también en la Tierra. |
