Located in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains, Rome is the largest city in and the county seat of Floyd County, Georgia, United States. It is the principal city of the Rome, Georgia, Metropolitan Statistical Area, population 96,250 (2009), which encompasses all of Floyd County. At the 2010 census, the city alone had a total population of 36,303.[1] It is the largest city in Northwest Georgia and the 19th largest city in the state.
Rome was built at the confluence of the Etowah and the Oostanaula rivers, forming the Coosa River. It is on seven hills with the rivers running between them, a feature that inspired the early European-American settlers to name it for Rome, the capital of Italy. It developed as a market and trading city due to its advantageous location on the rivers, sending the cotton commodity crop downriver to the Gulf Coast.
It is the second largest city, after Gadsden, Alabama, near the center of the triangular area defined by the Interstate highways between Atlanta, Birmingham and Chattanooga. It has developed as a regional center in such areas as medical care and education. In addition to its public school system, there are several private schools. Higher-level institutions include private Berry College and Shorter University, and the public Georgia Northwestern Technical College and Georgia Highlands College.
In the late 1920s a United States company built a rayon plant in a joint project with an Italian company. This project and the American city of Rome were honored by Italy in 1929, when its dictator Benito Mussolini sent a replica of the statue of Romulus and Remus nursing from a mother wolf, a symbol of the founding myth of the original Rome.

Rome is located at the confluence of the Etowah and the Oostanaula rivers, whose merging forms the Coosa River. This gave it access to the waterways, the major transportation routes of the era. Because of this water feature, Rome developed as a regional trade center, based originally on King Cotton. As cotton plantations were developed in the area, Rome was an increasingly important market town, shipping the commodity downriver to other markets.[3] It was designated as the county seat of Floyd County, Georgia.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 29.8 square miles (77 km2) of which 29.4 square miles (76 km2) is land and 0.5 square miles (1.3 km2) is water. The total area is 1.54% water.
The seven hills that inspired the name of Rome are known as Blossom, Jackson, Lumpkin, Mount Aventine, Myrtle, Old Shorter, and Neely hills. (The latter is also known as Tower or Clock Tower Hill). Some of the hills have been partially graded since Rome was founded.

Native American era[edit]
People of the Mississippian culture are known to have inhabited the area from about 1000 CE. These people are believed to have died off from disease brought by exposure to the Spaniards in the late 16th century. The Cherokee migrated into the Southeast and established themselves in the early 17th century.
Specifics before the Spanish expeditions in the 16th century are largely unknown, but archeologists have found evidence of thousands of years of indigenous cultures along these rivers.

There is some debate over whether Hernando de Soto was the first Spanish conquistador to encounter Native Americans in the area now known as Rome, but it is usually agreed that he passed through the region with his expedition in 1540.[4] In 1560, Tristán de Luna sent a detachment of 140 soldiers and two Dominican friars north along de Soto's route. They established relations with the Coosa chiefdom as they recorded assisting the Coosa in a raid against the rebellious province of Napochín, in what is now known as Tennessee.[5] Exposed to new Eurasian infectious diseases, these mound builder peoples suffered high mortality rates, as they lacked immunity and within 20 years the community was abandoned. The Creek emerged in the area, one of the major Muscogee-speaking tribes.[6]
The Abihka tribe of Creek in the area of Rome later became part of the Upper Creek. They merged with other Creek tribes to become the Ulibahalis, who later migrated westward into Alabama in the general region of Gadsden.[7][8] By the mid-18th century, Iroquoian-speaking Cherokee had moved into the area and occupied it. They had moved down from areas of Tennessee, under pressure from settlement by European Americans migrating from eastern territories.
A Cherokee village named Chatuga was settled in this area during the late eighteenth century, in the period of the Chickamauga Wars during and after the American Revolutionary War. The Cherokee referred to this area as "Head of Coosa." Several Cherokee leaders settled here, developing plantations, including chiefs Major Ridge and John Ross.[9] In the 20th century, Ridge's home here was preserved as Chieftains House. It has been adapted by the state for use as the Chieftains Museum and is used to represent the history of the Cherokee in this area, especially Major Ridge.
In the 18th century, a high demand in Europe for American deer skins had led to a brisk trade between Indian hunters and white traders, and as a result, a few white traders and some settlers (primarily from the British Colonies of Georgia and Carolina) were accepted by the Head of Coosa Cherokee. These were later joined by missionaries, and then more settlers. After the American War of Independence, most new settlers came from the area of Georgia east of the Proclamation Line of 1763.

In 1793, in response to a Cherokee raid into Tennessee, John Sevier, the Governor of Tennessee, led a retaliatory raid against the Cherokee in the vicinity of Myrtle Hill, in what was known as the Battle of Hightower.
In 1802, the United States and Georgia executed the Compact of 1802, in which Georgia sold its claimed Western lands (a claim dating to the colonial era) to the United States. In return, the federal government agreed to ignore Cherokee land titles and remove all Cherokee from Georgia. The commitment to evict the Cherokee was not immediately enforced, and Chiefs John Ross and Major Ridge led efforts to stop their removal, including several Federal lawsuits.

The European Masons’ selection of July 4th as the day to celebrate their independence from the English Crown is based on the European Masons’ knowledge of Egyptian and Moorish Science, Culture and Philosophy of Cosmic Law and Nature. The phrase “Nature’s Law and Nature’s God” written in the Declaration of Independence is the foundation law and key to establishing and maintaining civilization and government. Indeed the European Masons are standing on the shoulders of the Ancient Moabites, Egyptians, Sumerians, Babylonians, Canaanites and Hittites. What occurs astronomically is Sirius, the brightest star in the sky, reappears in the sky after being behind the Sun for 70 days. This astronomical phenomenon is referred to as the “Heliacal Rising of Sirius”. The word, heliacal, means pertaining to the Sun. The root word hel is derived from the Greek and means Sun and the suffix al denotes an adjective and means ‘pertaining to’. The “Helical Rising of Sirius” occurs shortly after the Summer Solstice which is on June 21st in the Northern Hemisphere. The solstice is a fixed point determined by geometrical measurements that marks the outer limits of the Sun’s apparent motion. The European Masons hold the Summer Solstice in high regards because it signals the near onset of annual floods, especially the flooding of the Nile River, which coincides with the Helical Rising of Sirius which occurs between July 3th and July 7th when Sirius enters Cancer. During this time the Earth’s orbit places the planet the furthest from the Sun. This astronomical phenomenon is called Aphelion. Have you ever wondered why the word BITCH is defined as a female dog? The association of the hot days of Summer with the phrase “Dog Days of Summer” is derived from Sirius being known as the Dog Star because of the bright star’s prominence in the constellation Canis Major. Sirius is located to the South in the sky and East of Orion and the stars in Orion’s belt appear to point toward Sirius. Sirius is associated with Isis, the goddess of the eastern horizon in the sky. Therefore Sirius is the Eastern Star. The names of the women’s secret orders referred to as the Order of the Eastern Star (OAS) and the Daughter of Isis are based in the astronomical event – the “Heliacal Rising of Sirius”. The Star Sirius is personified as Isis, standing in a celestial boat with a five – pointed star over her head, and facing Osiris on the right standing in his boat. Also, Isis was depicted as a large dog, or shown in Rome riding side-saddle on a large dog. So, now you know that the word BITCH being defined as a female dog is rooted in astronomy. The linguistic manipulation of words that reflect the creative and intuitive nature of women leads to the psychological subjugation of women. George Walker Bush  pronunciación (?·i) (n. New Haven, Connecticut, Estados Unidos, 6 de julio de 1946), conocido como George W. Bush o simplemente George Bush, fue el cuadragésimo tercer presidente de los Estados Unidos de América desde el 20 de enero de 2001 hasta el 20 de enero de 2009. Entre 1995 y 2000 había sido el 46o gobernador del estado de Texas. Milita en el Partido Republicano.
Antes de alcanzar la presidencia sirvió como piloto en la guardia nacional del estado de Texas y ha sido empresario tanto en la industria petrolífera como en el deporte profesional, como mánager general del equipo de béisbol de los Texas Rangers.
Bush fue elegido gobernador de Texas en 1994, siendo reelegido para dicho cargo en 1998. Ganó la nominación del Partido Republicano para presentarse como candidato en las elecciones presidenciales de su país en 2000, siendo su rival el entonces vicepresidente Al Gore, del Partido Demócrata. Resultó electo Presidente de los Estados Unidos en unas elecciones generales particularmente batalladas, con controvertidas secuelas que terminaron con la intervención de la Corte Suprema.[1] Ganó las elecciones de 2004, cuando disputaba la presidencia con su rival John Kerry, del Partido Demócrata, extendiéndose su mandato hasta principios de 2009.
Pertenece a una familia de políticos; es hijo del ex presidente George H. W. Bush, hermano del ex gobernador del estado de Florida Jeb Bush y nieto del ex senador Prescott Bush. Bush es el segundo hijo de un presidente estadounidense en acceder a la presidencia de la nación (el primero fue John Quincy Adams).

Bush nació en New Haven, Connecticut, siendo el primer hijo del matrimonio formado George H. W. Bush y su esposa Barbara. Desde el periodo colonial la familia Bush siempre había residido en zonas rurales, pero los Bush decidieron romper la tradición en 1948, año en que se trasladaron al estado de Texas. Allí, Bush fue criado en las ciudades de Midland y Houston, junto a sus hermanos menores Jeb, Neil, Marvin y sus hermanas Dorothy y Robin (falleciendo esta última a la temprana edad de tres años, a causa de una leucemia).[2]
Continuando con la tradición familiar, Bush asistió a la Phillips Academy en Andover, Massachusetts.También siguió los pasos de su padre al ser aceptado en la Universidad Yale, donde ingresa en la sociedad secreta conocida como Skull & Bones, y en 1968 obtiene la Licenciatura en Letras. En mayo de 1968 –momento cumbre en la Guerra de Vietnam-, Bush ingresa en la Guardia Nacional Aérea de Texas (en inglés; Texas Air National Guard), donde después de dos años de entrenamiento aprendió a volar el F-102 Delta Dagger. Sirvió como piloto del F-102 hasta 1972.[3]
En 1974 se le permitió finalizar su servicio militar de seis años con seis meses de antelación con el fin de asistir a la Harvard Business School, donde un año después consiguió el Máster de Administración de Empresas (MBA). Después de graduarse, Bush retorna a Texas y se involucra en el negocio petrolífero. Dos años más tarde, contrae matrimonio con Laura Welch, una bibliotecaria originaria de Midland, Texas. Fruto de este matrimonio nacen, en 1981, sus dos hijas gemelas Barbara y Jenna.
El 4 de septiembre de 1976, cerca de la casa de veraneo de su familia en Kennebunkport, Maine, la policía arrestó a Bush por conducir bajo los efectos del alcohol. Se declaró culpable y fue multado con 150 dólares y una suspensión que le impedía conducir por Maine durante 30 días. Las noticias acerca de su arresto fueron publicadas cinco días antes de la elección presidencial de 2000. Bush ha descrito esos días antes de su conversión religiosa, acaecida cuando rondaba los cuarenta años, como un período "nómada" y una "juventud irresponsable", y admitió que bebía en exceso en esa época. También ha declarado que dejó la bebida en 1986 y que la responsabilidad de su cambio fue, en parte, fruto de una reunión que mantuvo en 1985 con el reverendo Billy Graham.[4]
