Using the Internet Archive Wayback Machine

Have you heard of the Internet Archive Wayback Machine? I`ve been using it for years to access sites that have disappeared. And luckily for me, I`ve been able to access old tutorials this way and some of the screenshots are still visible (not always though).

I am used to using the older version of the Wayback Machine, but there is another version of the Wayback Machine available that used to be called "beta". It may be official by now, I`m not sure. I`m not one of those people who are adventurous enough to use beta versions when the current version is working for me.

I am having real trouble using either of these at this point. Maybe it`s the browser that I`m using that is a problem, I don`t know. The site used to be so responsive for me and I was able to easily retrieve pages. Now the site just seems to sit sometimes and acts like I never entered an address. I don`t seem to be able to access the pages that I could access in the past.

But again, luckily for me, I bookmark pages like crazy. And I have a page from the older version of the Wayback Machine that I use to access other pages from instead of going to the Wayback site. When I am viewing an older page, there is a box where I can put an address and click the Go button. I will retrieve pages that I can`t access from either of the Wayback links above. I don`t understand why there is a difference. Maybe it`s just me that has trouble with it.

I will share one of my older Wayback links with you so you can use it if you don`t get satisfactory results using the available links above. Maybe this will bring back some memories for some of you. The link goes to an archive page of an old MSN Group called WebPage GiveAway. Does anyone remember that group? I used to go there and view all the backgrounds, web pages, and the copy and paste "backgrounds" that she offered. At Yuku, I started to call them posties or wrappers, but I think you know what I mean.
