Rotating Colors

Here is another way of using the Animation Shop Rotate Colors Image Effect.

I looked through my gradients for one that looked like the one she used and the closest gradient I could find is pj-crayons (it's in set 1).

I created my text as vector text rather than floating, because I needed to edit the text to get the gradient to fill the whole of each letter from top to bottom (Objects/Convert Text to Curves/As Character Shapes).
If you've never converted text to curves as character shapes, try it out. Create your text as vector then duplicate it. Move the top text layer vertically on the canvas so you can see both text layers. Then convert the top text layer to character shapes (Objects/Convert Text to Curves/As Character Shapes) and compare the difference.

I selected my text (Selections/From Vector Object) and added a drop shadow on a lower layer (2, 2, 25, 2, #404040).

In AS, I used different settings for the rotate colors effect (2.0 secs, 10fps). I tried the settings from the tutorial first but I had a dramatic "skip" when the color changed to a light color and I didn't like how it looked. I changed the settings to give the text a more gradual transition. Changing the settings created more frames (21 instead of 17) and changed the timing of each frame to 10fps.

Looks good, Su!

I thought it looked kind of fast also.  By changing my settings, it added more frames and slowed it down.

Thanks for trying this tutorial and posting your results!

You didn't do anything wrong, Sharon.  Your tag looks right on!

It moves differently because of the angle of the gradient.  It looks like you've used angle=45 instead of angle=0.  It's a nice effect, and I'm glad to see an example with a different angle .

Thanks for trying this tutorial and showing your results!

ColoredHeartsSmileyAWmls06.gif Wow, awesome work, Sharon and Gran!

You've got an interesting effect there, Sharon
Thanks for trying something different!

Great looking siggies, Gran!
Can you share the name of the gradient you used?
I'd like to see if I have that one.
Do you remember the name of the font you used on the second tag?

Thanks for giving this tut a go and posting your results! I enjoyed seeing them!
