Daphne, emoticon may not be the best term for what these are. They are faces made with text. They are very common in Japanese pop culture.

| The first part is the history/about and when you scroll down the page, you should be able to find a list of categories. Click on any and it will take you to the "emoticon" collection. They are really cute and funny (^_~)
